Don’t think for one second just because a kitchen has been renovated that its perfect and won’t cost you thousands of dollars in repairs to fix. Check this out.
Thanks Tom for all your great videos. Very informative. I bought a house 3 years ago here on Vancouver Island and had it inspected. The inspector told me the house way in great condition. The house is now 10 years old but after watching your videos I decided to do some of my own inspections. So far I have discovered that the kitchen sink and main bathroom sinks have no p traps. I'm pretty sure code says p traps should be installed to prevent sewer gas from entering the home. Anyway gives me something to fix now but I'm surprised our inspector didn't find this for us. Wished you lived here on the Island. Thanks again for your helpful videos.
What are you supposed to do with 10 foot of tubing with less than 10 foot of space to run it? Seems like it would take most of the cabinet space if you didnt loop it
That discharge hose doesn't have a high drain loop either. Something that is standard for pretty much every manufacturer. The loop should go up as high as possible to the countertop to prevent backflow of water into the dw. And keeps the dishcharge hose dry and free from pooling of dirty water which can be a source of odor.
I know for sure he does. He has several videos of home inspections of new construction homes on his channel. He's found a good deal of problems in some of them.
DEFINITELY. Look at some of his other videos. He definitely recommends them as the contractors cut corners like crazy. Especially, a certain ethnic demographic.
Hi Nicole N, Yes I absolutely recommend people get inspections for brand new homes or buildings. If you check out my videos I show brand new 1.5 million dollar condos with considerable issues that you would want to know able before you were to buy a unit. Are you in Vancouver?
Hi Tom, just wondering if you've ever encountered issues with the way an undermount sink was installed to granite/quartz/caesar stone? Specifically, my brother just moved into a brand new home and they're just using pipe strapping wire to hold the sink in place which doesn't seem right because there are no other clips. The only other thing that could be holding it is epoxy but we can't tell. Would you recommend that we remove the pipe strapping wire and see if it holds without it before the 1 year BC new home warranty inspection? Thank you!
My inspections are about finding the issues before they cost my clients 10’s of thousands of dollars 4 18. Clients offer renegotiate the price of the home based on my findings to get it fixed.
Technically it will work if under 10' but to make the appliance last longer it should be shortened and loops eliminated is what he is saying. I would to the same thing.
@@garathjax420 idk if the hose needed to be extended they will need to move the dishwasher, causing them to redo the cabinetry. The wiring will require running its own socket. Not a quick fix.
I think that whole plumbing and electrical installation looks shady. Do you actually have that low standard for expensive builds/renovations over there in North America.
