Kurenai Yuhi finally makes a return to the Storm series and this time she is a playable character! I’ve been long awaiting her arrival and I have to say… it was all WORTH it!!! Kurenai is such an amazing character in Storm Connections. She has great neutral, amazing resets, combo damage is great and her combo potential is actually insane! Her jutsus are also great during combos and help extend them even further with her amazing air neutral. CyberConnect 2/Bandai Namco definitely outdone themselves this time and the visuals she brings with her are outstanding!
Kurenai has two primary jutsus in her arsenal. Her first jutsu allows her to surround herself with paper bombs that causes the opponent to be in a bounced state on hit. This is a nice combo extension tool, because you can use it right after an air combo to extend your combos even further! It is also nice to use whenever your opponent is about to approach you. The activation of this jutsu is a little on the slow side, so be sure to use it at a safe distance.
Her second jutsu allows her to make a genjutsu phantom of herself that explodes on impact. On hit it causes the opponent to be in an airborne state and it is easy to ninja dash right after this. Like her first jutsu you can also use this as a combo extension tool after an air combo. You can also use this jutsu as a defensive tool whenever you want your opponent to take a step back. Do know tat you can summon multiple phantoms at a time, so be sure to use that to your advantage!
Overall, Kurenai is an amazing new addition to Storm Connections and I’m glad that she is a great character. Definitely check try her out for yourself if you haven’t already!
