Here is the response from Lucky 8 Off Road Equipment on why the filler piece is the way it is: "We shortened the sill plate because it serves cosmetic purposes only. On the 90, when using a larger tire, there's a greater potential for rubbing issues in that area, especially with tires around 35 inches. We wanted to avoid interference with the trim sills. We feel It's better left off, ensuring that if the plastic piece becomes dislodged due to tire rubbing, there won't be any damage from the tire catching the sill piece."
Those are some beefy looking rock sliders. I totally agree with you that some kind of thick metal skid plate be installed to protect the high voltage wires. That seems like a possible point of failure. Have fun with that monster. I’m still jealous!!!!😂
Those rock guards look really solid. I would find a skid plate to cover the high voltage wires, it is not worth the risk without it. The headlight protectors are almost invisible once installed and better than say a cage on this modern Land Rover. Enjoy your adventures Steve. 👍👍
I haven't seen one in person as they will not be in the US until next year. I don't understand why anyone compares it to the Defender, it is very German in design and it is like comparing a G-Wagon to a Defender. I respect what Ineos did with restoring the first Land Rover JUE 477 but the Grenadier share no lineage to the Defender and lacks the British style and feel that you get from most British vehicles.
Mmmm...Land Rover..... In 1983 I was in Cooktown far north Queensland(Australia) holidaying with friends. Everybody that was serious in those days used Toyota Land Cruisers to get about. Short wheel based petrol land cruisers were used to muster cattle, Long wheel based for traveling on tracks and going to town. One exception was this middle aged, shirtless, hippy dude (we used to call them mung beans). He lived in the bush somewhere and would tear about the place in this old SWB Land Rover (no doors, lay down screen, looked like tractor tyres) selling pot to tourists. It was such a cool little mountain goat and I wanted it bad. Still want it.
I'm surprised you didn't immediately whip up a skid plate to protectthe wires. It looks flat, which seems like a trivial job for someone with your skills. Did I miss a complication?
