As an over the top gearhead, I'm really getting into your channel, Tom. Last fall, I built a 100 gallon gas tank for a friend's RV and used the same processes. He thought I was going overboard with it. But he'll never have issues with it. And I'm an empty nester, too! I remember when my daughter brought home a boy from college. She quit dating him because they had a flat on his pickup one night (Abilene, TX) and no cell service. So he couldn't get his dad on the phone to come change the tire. So my little girl hiked up her skirt, pulled out his spare tire, and proceeded to change it herself. She's 46 now and has a Snap On tool box full of tools most guys would be jealous of. She loves to off road with me!

She travelled 200km by train, we travelled 600km with a camper trailer behind us and got there to meet them at the train station. POR or other fuel tank sealants are handy especially if you are buying a junkyard one. Most likely the tank will have at least one drilled in bottom to drain it. I've patched a few tanks with one or other fuel tank patch kits. Including at least one military HUMVEE that had a leak. Back in early in service, some of the maintenance sections had a universal "patch kits" for hoods, or fuel tank, coolant ect ect. At a trailhead a long time back I had to help out a guy patching his CJ-5 fuel tank. Go figure his "buddies" left him in the wind, as all of his fuel was draining out. Quick fix epoxy.
