I was there, I heard him in that concert and in London. London is a great part of Munich (DVD) MJ could not sing more. He was angry, he tried but couldn't sing well. He was human not a robot or a lot of playbacks. Thanks for the truth!
Some people might think this downgrades him or something but i think it shows how hard working he was even though he had playback he still sang even if no one could hear him
People also fail to remember he was well out of what would’ve been his vocal prime by this time. He still had a lot to work with in the studio, but age was quietly taking its toll on the road.
yea exactly. but i think this was the reason he was having throat issues during the history tour, because he was just blurting along to his own playbacked voice in the album key.
I think that he could not hear himself very well so it was may hard to hit the right notes. But I am so surprised that he was still singing while playback was on. Even it was not really necessary to do that he wanted to get the feeling maybe. And to be fair he was singing live from age 11 until the bad tour. So this along deserves so much respect 🙏🏼
He was also singing fully live on the dangerous tour, maybe not 100% but he still sang 60-70% live (or at least 50% live depending on his condition) at the age of 34, while energetically moving or dancing on stage the entire time. Some people don’t like the fact that Michael heavily relied on playback on the history tour but they should know that by that point, he was pushing 40 while dealing with not only laryngitis but also lupus which must have affected his lungs. If you watch his concert in Brunei on the history tour, he didn’t look really good there with sweat constantly dripping down his face. It’s just insane how he could put on such an amazing performance per show while struggling with his heath. If you look at current young artists who are not even 30, even though they have much better technology and infrusture system to back them up at concert venues, they still use auto tune without any intense dance routines. Anyway, I think the reason why Michael was often out of pitch here was probably because he wasn’t hearing himself while singing behind playback.
@@mikky802000 Yes you are right. I meant that he sang until Bad Tour all songs live. At the 2. part of the Bad Tour the last songs was part playback and after that (dangerous und History Tour) he was singing half live and half playback. But who can blame him :)
At that Weekend in Munich 04.07-06.07.1997 MJ had A flu. That’s why at the two Munich Concerts his condition and voice was critical also before at the concert in Wien Austria. Also he had another health issues too and want quit the History Tour. The most people dont know that, that’s why it’s unfair to say that MJ can’t sing live. I was on Tour with MJ thats why I know that.
@@brainstormingredligh He was a normal, loving and humble person but the tour brings back the medication problem and he wants cancel it in Munich 1997. But honest there are so many Anecdotes with him over years.

When I was with him alone and we play hide and seek or Play Stadion MJ feels happy and free and we spoke about school and really normal things and he talk a lot but when we was outside with Media and Fand everything gets out of control and the security must organize everything and some Media or Fans was sometimes rude. And the next day the media writing BS about him on purpose.

I heard him say in an interview that after a show his adrenaline is so high that he couldn't even sleep..Karen Faye (his makeup artist since Thriller) said sometimes it would take him a couple days to come down from the adrenaline!! Crazy!! Imagine the rush you would get from tens of thousands if people screaming and crying for you..I've been to see him in '88 BAD Tour and the it took hours for me to return to normal because of the adrenaline and excitement if seeing him!! So that's just me so it must of been 10x that for MJ!
I think also by singing even though there was playback, it'd make it easier to keep on sync with the lip synching..Still must of damaged his voice more by doing that considering he had laryngitis!❤❤❤❤

Maybe he never performed this live, maybe this is just the way he sings along on the playback, not intended for the audience to hear, but this was recorded and may still have been edited into the audio of this video afterwards. Not sure, but could definitely be a possibility...
when he is using playback, he only hears the playback being packed in the monitors, he cannot hear his own voice at all. It’s like when we have the headphones on and just sing along with music imagining we sound good but actually we sound like shit.
I don’t get how he had no “in ears” (wasn’t connected to the monitors). Apparently This is It would have been the first time he did that? That’s crazy to me! I mean he still sang live, the whole Bad Tour was live I think. How did he pull that all off with no In Ears?
@@mayganphynix8267 he uses floor monitors instead of earpieces. They work the same, both make him hear the sound of the band and himself. Many artists choose floor monitors over earpieces. You can check Blake Shelton‘a performance on the Voice, he always uses stage monitors too.
Hahaha it proves how going to playback didn’t necessarily had to do with energy or age. But with the fact that he actually saw that this wouldn’t sound as good as playback. If dangerous was released in 1981 he would’ve sung without playback like he did in his tours with the brothers. And it would sound like this, harsh and raw. But people like it. This sounds exactly like how he sang all his songs in years like 1981 or 1979 or 1984
I mean, this kinda shows that when using playback he could've at least had the Mic on for some of 'hee hees and ad libs and stuff. Some much different energy when comparing his jam performance at Wembley or Bucharest when he did some ad libs at the start to Mexico city when he did none.
Show me 1 artist who dances athletically and sings live - MJ was on tour doing 3+ performances a week. I am even surprised he still sang over the playback. Normal people in the real world can’t even get out of a chair let alone compose music Tour dance and sing. Yet they are able to fat finger stupid comments on their laptop.

Ok its mj voice but its not the original concert of munich . What do you want ? Everybody knows he did not sing always . But his not the only one A lot of artist do this
I believe he himself wasn't hearing himself. Do this experiment. Put on a song with some ear phones on the highest volume and then record yourself singing along. I'm sure you'll be surprised with how awful you'll sound.
As a trained musician. I realized after watching countless hours of MJ live. He’s not actually singing. Look it you if you want. Artist that dance and move most the time can’t sing. Even trained lungs can’t. Next to impossible. Huge fan and still love spinning my MJ vinyl. Just can’t watch him in concert.
Michael did sing and dance at the same time without using playback at all (before multiple health issues plagued him during the history tour in 1997. That was why his fans, especially his international fans loved going to his concerts. You should check out his bad tour (or the victory tour).
