I think the tantive hallway scene is absolute gold. You can build on the one hallway and make a full tantive scene also the figs are awesome and the packaging look great . Also it’s the very first scene in Star Wars and how it got started . How can you not love it!!!
I love how iconic the set is. With 7 figures in a $55 set there's lots of room to grow to $100 or more. Just a question of when it retires and how deep the discounts get...
Picked up 24 units of World Map at $200 each last December. Couldn't be happier. Being the set with largest piece counts, it def is something worth collecting.
@@DGBricksYT no worries at all. At the time of my purchase, no one was paying attention to it and many sellers were willing discounts just to get rid of it. 😂 My only regret was not being able to locate more units at that price then.
World map and Batman have tons of rebrickable alternatives you can make, especially if you have more than one. I think that has added to the popularity. There really is endless possibilities with them.
Hey guys, thanks for another colab! BTW: When I filter all sold world maps in the US since the start of February 24 on Ebay prices usualy range between 300$ - 400$. Where the heck did you find 700$ sold item? Could you please forward me? Take care!
If you filter by sold items and then sort highest price to lowest, you'll find the example I showed from Feb 1st. I didn't realize that was such an outlier, but it does look like there are some other high $$$ sales. Didn't mean to mislead!
I think the real lesson is that extremely popular pop culture sets that are museum piece quality will be highly sought after. Keeping an eye on opportunities to pick up a couple Eiffel Towers and Titanics before they retire We also need to start giving major credence to MOC possibilities on art sets like Batman art. So many incredible portraits or even your own can be made with those pieces.
I think you have the right idea. I will certainly be eyeing the Titanic in particular since its form factor is friendlier to those with limited space. And on Art sets, I truly have no idea.
Need to look at the art sets and non-licensed large sets as home decorating and not Legos. Art world maps wall art that is a little different has been really popular in home decor for past few years. Colliseum aka roman decor in home decorating has always been popular. What is popular and what is not in home decor? Why some did good and others did not. And most of the alternative art builds always used the Batman set. Sorry but one more thing have to add. These are things I thought at the time and made me really consider these but being a relatively new Lego investor I eventually second guessed myself and did not buy them because everyone talks about Star wars and cool builds.....
You bring up some good points on home decor. I'm not sure I'd have bought Art sets just on conviction, I'd want to see some data. Now that there's positive data on it though, lots more investors will be moving in to the Art theme. The Roman Empire may be in peoples' minds because of that whole joke recently, but I'm not sure that really explains the $550 Colosseum instantly jumping to $900. Lots of mysteries with LEGO investing...
Good job guys. Very enjoyable. Even though I am a hobby investor, and in a different market being from Australia, your content is excellent and relevant. Keep them coming. Very much appreciated.
What was that other Ideas set that would never die? Oh yeah, the Treehouse 21318. Asha's Cottage was $10 at Costco just a month ago, yikes. I grabbed two reluctantly. One for a gift, the other for parts. I'm not a fan of the Star Wars midi-scale sets but they will sell really well, the Invisible Hand being the only one I'm really interested in. A lot of people myself included are happy to miss out on the Coliseum and the World Map no matter how much they climb as the sheer size of these along with the sale price is just too risky to lose sleep over.
Well here i was bored,so I thought let's have alook on RU-vid for something interesting.o man I found it..what a show.i am already following kdx bricks.love his show and knowledge now i have your chanel.looking forward to going back to your previous shows. Many thanks...BTW I'm a very small fish at about 1100 pounds in value but will have a fair bit more soon so I'll be watching with interest
Thought the Micro SSD, Clone Gunships, and Tie Bomber were getting pushed to 2025 for retirement. This is based on one of your earlier videos about a month ago.
One thing is for some sets to be listed at 2x MSRP on ebay, but that does not mean they will also be bought by someone for that amount... It can stay forever at that price... We need to see at what prices are they sold at...
For the World Map and Batman, etc. Ive seen a lot of impressive MOCs hung on walls, so thats perhaps two reason for price increase post retirement - sets that can be hung on a wall (like a painting, taking up limited space) and scarcity. Who knows!
I managed to pick up 2 world maps at a good price. I thought the set with the largest number of pieces just cannot be missing in a large collection. Not having it would be embarrassing, no? In addition, even if at some point there will be a regular (not just 1x1 pieces) set with more than 11.6K pieces, that set would likely be very expensive. So in that sense the world map is a steal for being the set with the largest number of pieces.
I picked up 13 of the wish sets for $8 each at costco and later decided to return them all. These were just not selling at all. Please tell Kevin to return them while he still can
Hello recently I just purchase the lego Luke Skywalker helmet brand new, however it didn't came in with a seal trips or translucent tap, what does that mean and does it affect the value?
Does your set have dotted semicircles on the lower back side of the set? Some sets use tape seals, others use this newer pop-type seal. I've never heard of any difference in value. The pop-type ones might hold up better to temperature in storage, but that's about it.
After the lackluster performance of the Architecture Landmarks subtheme I expected little of the Colosseum. It could be as simple as a supply/demand imbalance.
Of the 3 new ones, I think Invisible Hand for its low price point & the fact it's the first LEGO set depicting this ship. The Executor SSD is scheduled to retire this year, so that's the one I'll be buying first.
You did good! Dont be greedy ;o) But I get the feeling. Its the gamble with Lego. I bought a world map early Jan for 250 Euros. Hope I will also make 100 profit on it
As far as the harry potter universe goes, what do you think about the possibility of sets based around the new Hogwarts Legacy videogame? It was a great game and very well recieved & it was the best selling game of 2023. I have been thinking about that myself that could be interesting if they did something around that
I didn't have much to say because I never played KOTOR and barely know anything about the character. Revan is hugely valuable but he's also 8 years retired and was a limited May 4th promo.
Bad sets - map, batman, birds of paradise, and coliseum were not popular. weird, no supply, so even with low demand price increases. can't just pick all the bad sets and hope.
Good points. BoP benefits greatly from belonging to a collection, not so with the other 3 so far. If the price appreciation on mainstream picks starts to lag, then I'd reassess buying habits.
