Is this a review unit or your own lens? If it’s the latter, how did you manage to get one? This silver chrome Limited edition on the pre-owned market is going for about the same prices as the original from the 60s & 70s!
He has contacts at his local Leica store I think. I saw on a Reddit sub a user share their black version. Maybe their are some in the wild already. Good for Math.
Indeed you are RICH .... this is so far out of my range....this being said , Lieca has built superb re creation of old lens. Yes is true Leica quality. Beautiful glass. I have 90mm F2 SUMMICRON APO/ASPH 6 BIT. I treasure my SUMMICRON !! My little bit of Heaven.
you have very interesting Videos. I really like Leica Lenses but i am not a fan of the Leica M cameras. They just dont fit my shooting style. I have got a Canon R5 now, and i found out that there are adapters for Leica M lenses on Canon RF bodys. To you have any experience with this Adapters? Is there a lose of quality if i use adaptet lenses? The R5 has a very good focus Assist function. (The 3 small Arrows) and Focus peaking. Maybe this will work out great. But i dont know... I dont want to spent a lot of money on a M Lens just to find out that there is some Quality lost because the Systems to not fit.
Just out of my experience. An adapter doesn't degrade quality but I find that Leica lenses on Canon, Nikon, and Sony mirrorless doesn't show the true quality of the lens because you will get corner smearing. This is due to a thick sensor layer on those cameras. You can use Leica M lenses but it won't show the true quality of the M lenses. You can get a Leica SL.
Looks like Mathias has to increase his insurance coverage. Such a lens just sold at auction for 60,000 Euros including buyer's premium. Congrats for such a good investment.
Beautiful and amazing camera equipment you have! I’m a Canon guy, but really considering getting on a SL, unfortunately I will have to wait on the awesome Leica lenses for now! Great videos and thanks for sharing!
It has nothing to do with comparing it to any Voigtlander. Optically is a very good lens but completely different signature than any other lens out there. You have the 0.95, the f1 and now 1.2. The Voigtlander has nothing to do with any of these lenses. Comparing the two is like comparing a Bugatti to a Subaru when it comes to price. Sure they both take great images and Voigtlander could deliver stellar shots but that's not the case here. The case here is that this lens is sought after where the Voigtlander could be found literally anywhere for about $1,000.00. Like I said, optically they're both great lenses. Just two different worlds.
@@steveGabrail This 50/1.2 is a remake of the original vintage lens version copying also its faults. IMO a pure collector item. The CV 50/1.2 is the much better modern lens counterpart which will surpass this 50/1.2 Noctilux in most aspects. I would go in a heartbeat with the CV lens instead if I needed a fast 50 mm lens. I honestly can't understand all this Leica Noctilux hype with overhyped pricing for collectors.
@@MB-or8js I’m completely aware that this is a remake. And as I said, it’s a decent lens at most. However, voigtlander will never come close to having such a hype and people going crazy to buying this. Voigtlander will get you stellar images.
This lens looks stunning! I love Leica's 1960s design language for lenses, it looks a lot like my 90mm tele-elmarit and like the 50mm summilux in black chrome (besides the color). Besides, how does the optical quality compare to the summilux asph? The aperture is very close and the price isn't too far apart for the black version
Is this Leica the partner lens for huawei? Oh now i can take a look the sample result of photo 5:45 f/0.95? 6:46 if we loss the warranty card is it ok? 8:57 I like the reflection
I usually keep the outer box as well, kinda like a dust cover for the original box, and I do believe when reselling, it is more desirable if you have the outer box as well.
OH MEIN GOTT, sie haben den Plexiglas-Behälter zurückgebracht... I WANT ONE! Sidenote: I think the silver lens cap (Objektivrückdeckel) was included with the re-issue of the Thambar 90mm.
@@mathphotographer It's indeed confusing why this special lens cap is not part of all the vintage line lenses... it would fit so well to the Summaron 28mm in chrom. It can be acquired as a spare part from Leica though.
Painful to watch the outer box being torn up! Even if you don't want it for collector completeness (and you really should, investment value wise), you can use it to protect the inner box.
The outer grey box with serial numbers also includes the date of manufacturing, ripping it up and discarding it is foolish, it is worth to a collector in a few years at least EUR 5k.
That’s not nice. I don’t think Math is stupid. You obviously watch his channel. Math has gifted us knowledge, experience and visuals you can’t find anywhere (in my experience). We all value things a bit differently. Math uses these as tools and not full-time shelf props. I don’t think this will be resold to anyone else...ever. Math is the final owner-collector. As for the protective outer box...maybe he was so excited to open the box for us? It’s obvious he is meticulous and careful how he handles the piece later on.
