Thank you. Appreciate your review and not making the unboxing a drawn out affair like other reviews. I like how you mentioned buying / owning a Leica is partly intangible. I’m on my second new Leica film camera; the unboxing of a new Leica is always memorable. Your RAW images seem better than the Leica looks with admirable image quality.
Nice video but nothing in it or any other video for that matter will convince me to upgrade. The Q2 is all I need and paying another £5k after having the Q2 for less than three years is crazy. Thanks for sharing.
There is a lot of hype around the Q3, but I concluded in the video that it doesn’t make objective sense to upgrade from the Q2. Not enough improvements to justify the cost. Probably would be better to wait for the Q4. The Q2 is still plenty capable. Even the Q is useable today.
You get charged at time of preorder at B&H if you use a digital wallet like Apple Pay, PayPal, etc. If you use a normal credit card you don't get charged until it ships.
The three main improvements that would sway me to buy this are: 1. Improved autofocus. 2. Tilt screen 3. Greater dynamic range when dropping it to 36MP (pixel binning), making for cleaner images in low light.
@@MrAndyGA Mathphotographer has done some detailed testing showing that 36MP mode increases dynamic range by 1 stop and lowers noise. I've had mine for about 3 weeks, upgraded from an original Q. I'm a big fan of the tilt screen and the autofocus is definitely better. I never shot the Q2 though so IDK if real use is actually an improvement.
I wanted to ask since you got the handgrip for the Q3, would it fit on the Q2? I’m struggling to find one in my country and the only available options in stock are for the Q3.
Hi …. We have the same mindset about Leica ! Q 3 ….tilt screen . Same sensor as M11 …. A 28 mm Summilux with your M11 and a 35 mm Summicron and 50 mm Summilux . Shalom,
Excellent unboxing and gear review. Next step, join a photographic workshop so you can learn about what makes a photo interesting, learn about composition and creating images that are engaging. The best way to feel better about spending 6k, is to use it for what it was made for otherwise just use your iPhone⭐️👍🏼😊
I would say so too, you didn’t just get it because it also is a luxury item, but looked at it as a photographic tool and made some good points about how it can improve your photography technically. So it sounds like you are really interested in photography, which is the very fuel needed to get better with it over time in my experience. Like Beuys said, everyone is an artist. Thanks for the nice and honest review!
@@sc1 Leica has a history of releasing new cameras that initially lock up My Q2 never did, then I sold the Q2 for the Q2M no issue either. I think the SL3 will sell like hot cakes with faster AF like the Q3 Panasonic electronics are good now.
@@walkingmeditation61 Sure, I have only the Q3 with me this weekend on a family trip because I want to shoot video, and I don’t need a long lens. But for most photographic purposes, I will still use the M11. I realize I can still shoot manual on the Q3, but the M11 is a more satisfying experience. But for trips where I plan on filming video, the Q3 makes sense.
