Got the lens yesterday, shot this video today. I was looking for videos on this lens myself. Check out Joe X • COLD STEEL ESPADA XL -... timestamps 0:00 intro 1:20 first impressions 3:48 lightroom 40cm vs 70cm 8:14 outro
35 mm is probably the most used and legendary focal lens for any Leica M (ok except the original M3 that did not have the tramlines for it). So the latest version of the Summilux is a great choice approved by many for your M11. Now calling it a macro-lens... hmmm let us say is probably being a little over-optimistic, if not not realising that "macro" is usually kept for lenses that go down to the 1:1 ration, far, very far from what the Summilux 35 can achieve even at 40 cm. Thanks for the images and their analysis.
Thanks so much for watching my videos and commenting. You're definitely right about macro lol. Wanted to mention, I ended up preferring the zeiss distagon 35 1.4 over the summilux. But that was really splitting hairs
I really like how balanced this video is for how you talk about it! I also never realized the macro/close focus capabilities of this lens with the high mp of the body! That is a killer combo!
Keep the Summarit 75, because you'll miss, when it's gone. With the LUX 35 it makes a great kit for daily use and travel. A 75 mm is perfect for both portrait and landscape; even for street photography if you want to keep a little distance to the scenery. 😇
Thanks for sharing. I've put in an order for this lens and i'm not sure if i made the right choice. It's nice to hear that you wanted "more" and that you haven't regretted it
I really feel like my camera is complete now. I don't need to read any more forums or watch any more lens videos. Hopefully it fills that void for you as well. Also, congrats on your purchase
Nice job I want that lens but I’m not gonna lie the 35 Voightlander APO has been getting some awesome reviews. I do feel the 1.4 vs. f/2 matters more for my M11 than a camera with IBIS! Great work!
I shot an armwrestling tournament with that vm 35 apo. There's a tournament next month at the exact same venue. Going to bring this summilux and shoot it the exact same way. Will post a comparison video afterwards.
There's a really long story tied to that clip. I had to get it serviced after it blew up in the tank. That was an old 1570 movement so it cost a lot and took forever to get it back. It's funny now...but at the time I couldn't believe it.
btw I don't mess with 1570's. Using a microstella wrench is beyond my comfort level. I've broken 2 powermatic 80s trying to make them keep perfect time. Those are way cheaper than 1570s.
@@gurugamer8632 yeah I think that'll boil down to if you want more light or less chromatic aberrations. I think the apo is a little sharper as well. For me, the extra stop of light was the big draw. Also the summilux doesn't cost so much.
