I make and restore leather products in my spare time, mostly bags, backpacks and small items like wallets and card-holders. I am still learning a ton every time I take on a new project and always appreciate feedback on my creations.
For the moment I don't take orders as I like to spend too many hours getting the finished product as good as I can : this means that if I were to sell these bags, the selling price would be way more than the bags are worth due to the hours of work involved.
As always, do let me know what you think of this video. If you have any tips or comments please let me know by dropping a comment below this video :)

It is indeed, just be careful not to cut yourself, that blade is scary!

Your Dremel set-up is Brilliant. Thank you. I just got my own vintage strap cutter off of eBay (an unlabeled version of your own wood & brass). I'm looking forward to putting it to good use for the next several years and then passing it on to the Godkids. Almost all of my kit I've found scrolling through the vintage and antique tools of eBay (the American dealers tend to have good prices). - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

Using a drill press or a bench grinder is much faster if you have one. Less than $10 for the wire brush attachment

Beautiful job, GORGEOUS TOOL! I just ordered a similar CS Osborne draw knife. Unfortunately, not the brass one. Yet, still an antique one (where the handle TWISTS to tighten the ruler/guide. Thanks! G

I have a similar cutter with the same makers mark. Not as fancy of a handle though.

I found one on an antique site. The handle is solid metal too. Not as pretty as yours but will do the trick.

They have the regular solid aluminum handle draw gauge for around 50$. ( cheaper Chinese copycats sell for 20$). They also have a 150$ - 250$ version that are s’aime of the highest quality you can find and have a resharpenable blade. Not this one in the video. The one in the video has actually been modified though and is no longer sold.

That exposed blade scares me.

You’re only missing a small plate that sits between the adjustment screw and blade.

Thanks, now you mention it I remember seeing that small metal piece on other draw gauges! Will have to see if I can find a replacement.

With CS Osborn tools you need to sharpen them yourself, otherwise they are great at great prices.

Especially when it's from 1906 lol

@@Handles-R-Lame I don’t think that tool really is over a hundred years old.

I was wondering the same thing, so I contacted CS Osborn directly and they confirmed the following: "Hi James If stamped “NEWARK” it’s older than 1906" Sadly they gave me no further context or information about this specific tool :')
