Wow wow wow the 9F looks and sounds stunning the level of detail on it is phenomenal and all credit to hornby, fantastic video and update wishing you and Barbara all the very best for 2024 kind regards Danny 😀 😊
Hello, m'lord! 'Tis wonderful to see you upon your throne... not that one, your shed throne... :) Anyhow, those cement cars are fantastic- a very nice gift, but the 9F is a dream! What a stunner! Congrats and a Happy New Year to you and the family!
Hi Lord Al , a great update. I do enjoy your work and changes. Such a great layout. I am so happy that you were visited by Mr Christmas. Great stuff and the bridge is going to look amazing. Have fun. Looking forward to the next one. Have a wonderful new year, and keep safe and healthy, both you and your wife and family. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Another good video.. must have been a good boy with all the presents.. Looking forward to seeing the new build.. Agree bolting bridges a good option, let me know sizes, may be able to supply. Lima coaches still great value for money and run smooth and balanced, but as you pointed out, some need rewheeling, but paying around £10 per coach, compared to new of up to £50+, makes a big difference on a full rake, pay for a new loco. Glad you pleased with 9f, thinking of buying one, they run this area pulling limestone hoppers, and didn’t need a banker engine on the climb over Northwich arches. Will have to look at the Gaugemaster system, think I followed the logic. The 66 sounded good with great pulling power, did you say that was an ex Lima Loco with TTS sound. All the best to you and yours, and hope you have a happy and prosperous 2024. x The Bigfella x
Thank you so much Paul.. the lima coaches i got £7 each. Bargain ..lol The loco 9F runs superbly and great sound . i will do a better film on that .i found more things on the F numbers. so that`s to come. The 66 is years old now when TTS was only £20 ..lol But the next big thing is doing bridges at least get them painted and lots of stuff to strip down as well. So thank you so much for watching and a Very Happy New Year to you Bigfella and family..Have a good one..
Great addition to the fleet, and the details and sounds are great, look forward to seeing the much improvement bridge installation too, happy new year to you and family- Mark
Railway layouts are always being updated. I know mine was. Love the new bridges. I hope it's not "a bridge too far." Glad storms caused no damage to the shed. Remember messure twice, cut once. I like Lady Barbara's dial tone. It certainly got my attention here in California. Bill & Janet
Thunderbolts and lightning, very very frightening! And what was that about a vaccine for the layout ... oh a backscene! Those bridges will look great and love the new locos
Hi Lord (& Lady) Merry Christmas to you both. Nice wee update there Al. So far in the past year I fitted 4 HM7000 sound decoders to old & new Locos. The latest being a Class 66 - Royal Scotsman which I bought to give to my mother-in-law, to give to me for Christmas! (sound familiar) ?. Although they can be a bit of a bu**er to set up and you sometimes need to load & reload the sound file to the loco, £65 - £70 for a sound decoder, they are a game changer and you should give them a try on some of your non-sound locos. Where else can you find a sound decoder at that price? Maybe even do a video of you fitting them. I operate all four via bluetooth on my android smart phone AND my DCC controller, they run great on both and it give the operator the opportunity to control the sound on two locos at the same time. One on bluetooth and one on DCC. Love the videos and the relaxed presentation of them. Keep up the great work Al. All the best for 2024 to you and yours. Bob, Black Isle MRC
Thank you so much for watching Bobby .May be a good idea to have a look at fitting them..But at least i know they work great on DCC .And it seems like others have there minds put at rest on it now. Thank you so much for the lovely comments and you and your family have a Very Happy New Year to come..
Hi Happy Al ! Nice video and update pal! Those bridges look rather tasty :) Hope you have a wonderful 2024 be happy (you always are :)) safe and well .Take care regard's Michael.
Thank you so much for watching Michael.. I`ll do my best to make the bridges look good for you all. Very Happy New Year Michael and family. have a good one.
Cracking video Al. you know me i love the the 9Fs. as i have a few in my collection. happy new year to you. and give my regards to her Ladyship Barbara, take care all the best Tony.
Thank you so much Tony .This 9F is superb it runs so sweet and sounds great.. Thank you for watching .. And all the very best to you and your lovely wife ....Happy new year Tony and family.
Hi Allan, So glad you mentioned about the blue tooth on the 9F I wasn’t sure about buying hornby new stuff if it would work on gauge master controller looking forward to seeing the new bridge installed quite like the look of it cheers Al
i did have my doubts. But as you have seen no issues . i hope it`s put your mind at rest over buying one and others . it does run really well. Happy new year.
I can highly recommend the HM7000 sound chip as I fitted 4 to old & new locos. Once the soundfile is downloaded and installed onto the decoder, they are so easy to operate from your smartphone or DCC controller. At £65-£70 depending whether it's a 8 pin, NXT18 or 21 pin. You cannot getter better value for a sound chip. I found the first one a bit of a fiddle to get working but after a bit of a rant on the Hornby Forum, I received brilliant info from their tech dept. and the other three were easy to install and get up and running. No, I don't work for Hornby and I don't get a commission, but I can't recommend the HM7000 decoders enough. They are great value. I would imagine, through time, other manufacturers will have to follow suit and bring their prices down but for now - great value. They come with an A1 sound file (I think) pre-loaded and you can then download whichever loco soundfile your installing it into. I've never bought a now Hornby loco with HM7000 fitted (can't afford it), but retro fitting my old locos with HM7000 decoders is really worth while. 4 down 21 to go!!!!!! Hope this helps you make up your mind. Regards, Bob, Black Isle MRC
Thank you so much for the information ill give some thought in the new year and may be fit sound to my Gold Flying Scotsman .Should be well worth looking into it some time next year ..Thank you.
Hi Allan, those bridges look fantastic, really good replacement for the old suspension bridge. I’m really looking forward to seeing them in place. That 9f is a great loco, the sound sounds very good too, I’ve seen one in N Gauge which may very well join my fleet at some point. Happy New Year to you and the family, cheers Allan, John 🍻🥂
I can`t wait to them in place either. i`ll be stripping stuff out tomorrow and lets see how that goes..lol i wonder how bugs and dead spiders i will find..lol.. As for the 9F it`s superb . i was playing with today and found more sounds on it ..But she runs sweet. The hard part is filming it all..Anyway i`ll give a go and thank you for watching John.. Very Happy New Year to you John and family.
Hi Lord Al 👍 hope you and family had a fantastic Christmas and thank you for the Christmas card. The bridges are going to look fabulous when installed can’t wait. The sound from the steam loco is fantastic. All the best to you and the family in the New Year Andy
Hi lord Al and a happy new year to you and the family. The bridges look excellent mate and the new stock gets a thumbs up even though I'm not a steam person. Lightening strikes are scary, I've been struck once, well the vehicle was struck, what a bang and it stopped dead, nothing worked for a minute or two and there was a burn mark on the bonnet and 2 holes in the road where the wheels were. Unbelievable, never experienced anything like it. Anyway crack on with those bridges and I'll catch you next time. Atb Andy
Thank you Andy. Just hope the bridges turn out as good as they look. WOW on the lightening..That`s a near miss for sure. So Andy a Very Happy New Year to you and family. Have fun Andy..
Hey Allan, love the 9F still have to experience sound on any loco first hand myself so wondering what that will be like, one day. Happy New Year to you and yours.
Sure no worries just let me know when the best day. Give me a week or so just to finish the new bridge’s off. If that’s okay with you. Any and most days are good for me So looking forward to seeing you.
Nice end of the year update Lord Al. The bridge project looks interesting. I'm wondering what will be visible underneath the thee arches. You did well at Christmas, the 9F is a beauty as are the cement wagons. See you in the new year your Lordship.
Thank you so much David ..Hopefully i get the paint job right on the bridges. lol.. and the 9F is Superb lots of cool sounds on it i need to show off next time.. The cement wagons are well worth the money just in detail alone. So on that note a Very Happy New Year David and your family
Hi Allan and Barbara. New bridge looks absolutely fabulous. Saying that the suspension bridge looks great as well. Love thunder storms didn't get any down here. 9f what a brilliant looking loco, I'm only dc so wouldn't have all the bells and whistles. Hey Allan always getting my vape in shot as well.🤣 Can't wait to see the new bridge in place. Thanks Allan. Have a fantastic new year buddy. 🍾🍾 Pete.
Thank you Pete for watching .Had a word with him up stairs your next on the list for a good storm..lol.. If you go down the bluetooth route you can have sound on DC . Yes the vape is never far away it`s my stress out tool..lol. So a very happy new year to you and family.. Have a good one.
Hi Al Those bridges do look good, glad you covered that chip as I was thinking about getting a couple but did wondered if there fully operational from a prodigy as per a regular chip. Hope you had a good christmas and a Happy New year to you all
Thank you on the bridges if you wont some there only £15 from my local model shop .he makes them. Had her running quite a few hours now with no issues and runs very smooth . Am well pleased with it. Far better than the old ones. Christmas was great lots of fun..hope you did and i did see you had post issues again. May be the post man does not like you any more ,,lol.lol. On that note a Very Happy New Year Clive. have a good one.
The 9f is a stunning looking loco, runs sweet too. Like the new tankers, the details are amazing on those. Nice running sesh. All the best Lord Al, Happy New Year. Brian @ The Angels
Thank you so much Brian.. there will be more to come on the 9f as i have found some more cool features on it . so all the best and happy new year to you Brian and family.
Hi lord Al. Loving the update video. Great acquisition in the 9F! I have recently purchased two of the bachmann sound 9F’s. Love them! Hope you both have an amazing new year. See you in 2024 - Riggsy
Great update Allan, the new bridges will certainly look the part when you've got them all painted up, be great to see the progress on these. Great choice with the 9f, they certainly do look fantastic locos, with stunning reviews generally, loads of power there too, bythe looks of it. You are right with the HM7000 decoder. I fitted one to an 08 a while ago, whether it would run on DCCwas my concern. It runs beautifully on the Z21, no issues. You can switch to the bluetooth, using the hornby app, but why would you with a good DCC system. Chip works well. It was later discovered they are not good on 12v DC / analogue.
Yes the 9F has some cool features on it .i for got to show off but that`s for next time . Hopefully the colour choice should work well ...IVORY and Brown ..what do think on that idea. And thankfully she works superb on DCC . And she runs so smoothly .. Well chuffed ..lol Very Happy New Year to you John..
The 9F is the best new engine you've ever bought. You forgot to mention that I accidentally spotted her on camera in the previous video. Welcome little miss 9F. You are music to my ears, and I'm not just saying that. If you could think of a name for her, what would you choose?
Hello yuor Lordship. I was going to ask you a question, but I think you may have already answered it. I have new Hornby standard points and some of my locos are either jumping over the Points or derailing. So I look for a video about the problem and fount one with a very time.. All he said was " there is an easy fix for Hornby standard points " and throw them in the rubbish bin and then held up an Express Points and said "this is the cure." Martin. (Thailand) What did I get for Christmas? An A1 Doncaster and my 20 year old daughter walking out of University. Have a very Happy New Year.🚽🚽🚽🪣
