I have owned 3 wonderbooms for a while now. Two wonderboom 2's and one wonderboom 1 with "UE" on top, which is the first generation I think. I prefer the sound of the wonderboom 1 and it's a tad smaller as well. The sound of the wonderboom 2 is more open and clear, and probably more neutral/balanced, but the wonderboom 1 sounds warmer with a bit elevated mid-bass which makes it more pleasant to my ears. It also sounds a tad more boxed-in and muddy compared to the wonderboom 2 because of that elevated mid-bass but I still prefer it, it just sounds very pleasant. I listen to anything on them, from classical music to house/techno and hiphop. Of course the wonderboom 2's can be coupled in stereo, which is very nice, but I think it's silly it is not the standard mode when you couple them, you have to long press the button again for stereo mode after coupling. Outdoor mode can be useful indoors as well. If the speaker is stuffed in a corner which elevates the bass too much, you can fix that with this mode. While both are great, overall, I'd still go with the wonderboom 1 because it just sounds so nice!
Sound seems identical and inseparable. However I am surprise that currently Amazon is selling Original Wonderboom for $20 more than the new version 2 ! Am I missing something?
The sound quality on the original is better. The bass is deeper and the sound is crisper on the high end. It is also a little bit louder. Also the new straps tend to rip easier. I had an original and i recently sold my WB2. I prefer the original. Its just better

In fact, I was really surprised only last week, when at my local Costco branch I did see a set of 2 black Wonderboom "Original" (Old version) being currently sold at the end of 2020, for $100, when the new came out long back and Though the original WB s can be paired (Synch) to replicate the same sound source for a larger area of listeners (Around the pool or a small party, but this can not be configured in a Right and Left Channels, unlike the new version (A big spect plus). Now add this to the ease of return in Costco, I was seriously wondering as to how they are going to convenience their customers to keep these and not return, the moment they figure out this is the years older generation. This all explains and the fact that I am as always well cared & in good hands! without knowing it when buying from Costco. Needless to say, I am going to treat my several older WB s even better now that I know this. Thanks my friend sharing this. 👋👌 Oh Just checked and Costco also sells the kit online, if anyone interested to buy. This is currently $20 cheaper than the same kit at Walmart or BestBuy, though I think their kit comes with two speakers of different colors, that personally, I don't like that configuration. Maybe I buy one more to save some for the future, in case any of those failed on me and from reviews, I know nothing goes wrong with them, but eventually, their internal rechargeable batteries over the years may fail to charge. Leaving users with the option to used it always attached to a USB cable or make a DIY battery swap but even then, and if you find the right proprietary batteries, they are not cheap, maybe almost close to this price! Just picked up a used wonderboom 1 for €25 for some musical motivation for my cold showers. Great little speaker, big sound. Not disappointed! I like the form factor much better than any of these tube shape speakers. This little sound grenade is the perfect shower speaker. 🙂👍🏻
LKH10 I have both versions and in my opinion, the original wonderboom has the better sound. Base and tones are much nicer. The wonderboom 2 is slightly louder but has less base and sounds too tinny for my liking! I’d wished I purchase a 2nd wonderboom instead and saved the money!
I'm watching this vid because I also bought the original wb and refuse to believe the sound quality could be improved. Functionality, yes, sound quality - no! And DO NOT buy the megaboom! I returned it the next day, tinny sound, no bass, absolute garbage.
SirJackRyan yes but that’s not the stereo system the Stereo system is almost like head phones when you pair the wonder boom two it works as a left speaker and the other a right speaker on the original they are play at the same frequency
I asked the same question. Iv got a wonderboom already. I think they'll pair just fine since the wonderboom pairs to 5th e other type of speakers. But I'm more concerned about whether I'll be able to get L and R stereo sound
