Hi Carole you are always so busy sewing away I’m in awe of how much you get done, I’ve decided I’m just one of those sewers that procrastinates unfortunately. Funnily enough I did get my husband to go in the loft to get the cases down with our summer clothes in which had my bucket hat that I made last summer. You have inspired me to make a couple more 😊. I don’t do the big four I tend to stick with indi patterns I think it is because presentation makes them look less desirable I don’t think I have the imagination to think out of the box the way you do. Ha ha there is something in me that can never be still! My father is the same way and he is 90 so I am really hoping I take after him. Re Indie patterns, yes they really do try and sell their patterns and there are always so many 'real' makes out there that they use as their photos, not the wooden models the Big 4 use! They always look so much more modern and appealing I totally agree but I guess I stick to what I know mostly and try and look beyond those awful images 😂. Thanks so much for watching 🧵😊
I love the hat! I gave up on Big 4 a long time ago, but I don't print anything at home anymore unless it's 20 pages or less. I usually send in 4 or 5 patterns at once to be printed - more efficient on the postage and they are nice smooth sheets. You wont have to print off all the pages on most Love Notions Patterns!! Look for the guide that shows exactly which pages you need to print for the view and size you are making. Their instructions are best viewed on a screen, as there are links that go anywhere you need- including tutorials- in the instructions. The Juliet will be lovely!! Congratulations on reaching your 2-year anniversary! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hi Lynn, thanks so much for your hints and tips. I don't know how you can be so patient as to wait for PDFs to be printed, I am always so desperate to get sewing! Re printing patterns. I can never work out how to layer patterns ( I think I need Adobe which I don't have )and the trouble is as well, I can't decide on a view so needed the whole lot printed anyway. Simple patterns and exciting fabrics make the garment GREAT! I completely agree! New Look 6217 is a keeper. Believe it or not, I still have not sewn it up. Your top is lovely. Summer had arrived in the UK....now it is gone and back to wind, rain and cold! I reckon you could sew up 6217 in about 60 mins, start to finish 😂. That PDF pattern I printed out, well that was a disaster, I will explain on Friday! You see, this is why I love good old fashion paper patterns, all done for you and half the price. Thanks Izzy, those hats are such fun to do! For some reason I just love doing the top stitching going round and round 😂. Re the big 4, I just tend to sew the same size all the time. I hardly ever read the finished garment measurements but lets be honest, I don't get perfect fitting garments like you do. However, I just 'came a cropper' with a pattern this week on sizing, maybe should have paid more attention 😂. Our forecast looks amazing for the weekend, shall I send some sun over there?! Mind you if yours was lovely then you really would have wanted to be at the island house. Enjoy all the fun this weekend 💗😘

For A0 printing I use CLC Print - it's £1.50 per page, and free postage if over £5. Brilliant service, usually get confirmation that it's done the same day, then it takes a couple of days or so for delivery.

I have been meaning to make a bucket hat for sun protection and thank you for the tip of putting an eyelet or small grommet in the top. Charlie does the dress model try on when I sew for our youngest son. Queue the barking 😂 as soon as you mention your daughter’s dog barks!
Re the 6022, I put in that sleeve detail on a plain t-shirt I made where the sleeves didn’t look quite right. It made all the difference. The t-shirt looks has a more feminine look now and I really like it. I was going to ditch the t shirt as a failure, as the sleeves and shoulders fitted oddly, so it’s a good hack. Happy sewing and sorry to hear about Mickey.
I cannot believe you sent me this! Yesterday I had an absolute nightmare with the Raglan t shirt I wanted to make, the Simplicity one. The sleeves just stuck out whatever I did, after trying several things I did exactly what you said and added some gathers. It, as you say has made it look more feminine. How weird you commented saying the exact same thing 🤣, I've said it many times but I'm sure I'm a witch! Thank you so much for your kindness re Mickey. We still haven't got over it yet to be honest. I recently had a go at a LoveNotions T-Shirt. I had to ask my son help with the pdf layerings 😅. We got there in the end. It turned out really well with first attempts with my overlock machine. The outlook from your holiday home is fantastic. The bucket hats look great so stop telling yourself you don’t suit hats, it’s nonsense 😃. I’ve had Lutterloh disaster in the having sent the damaged one back to Create and Craft they contacted me to say they had sold out and had no more so couldn’t replace it and have refunded me. I’m very disappointed. We’re about to go away in our motorhome for a month so I’ll deal with buying another one when we get back. I’m taking a couple of stitcherys and some small cross stitch patterns with me so I can at least do some sewing. This will be new sewing to me and I’m looking forward to it. The New Look is a great pattern. I make it a lot for my daughter who teaches grade 1. She thinks it's so easy to wear. I've only made 1 for me but I'll do more this year. By the way, don't print every page on pdf's. You can layer and just print the pieces you need. Congratulations on 2 years 👏 👏.

I think I have a very similar taste to you, and that being so, take a look at Simplicity 9612 sailor trousers they are fab… also new look 6517 the trousers are also fab but you may already have this pattern? Hi Sue! Adam to the rescue again. As soon as he watched my video today he messaged me to tell me of a lovely family company that print them off and I think he then mentioned it in his video. What would I do without him?! I have now printed off the pattern and I tried to do it without my husband watching then of course, he walked by the machine 😂 FORTY PAGES??? He said!! I would not say buckets hats don't fit you! I think they look Beautiful! I tried those knickers from acaia and they just did not work well for me. I'm still looking for another pattern.
Oh bless you Zelda, you are too kind!! Those Acacia knickers didn't work for my daughter either so I just traced out her favourite pair which was so easy to do and copied the same principle of making them up. Don't worry about buying a pattern, just grab your favourite pair!! 👙xx
Hi Ann, I have made it in cotton jersey yes and it made a lovely T shirt. There are a few other vloggers out there who have done the same over the years. I would cut both pieces on the fold though rather than bother with the back opening if you didn't want that. Remember to remove the seam allowance on the centre back though, just move the piece 1.5cm over the fold. Good luck and let me know how you get on! Have a good weekend 🧵😊

I've heard you mention it before after you shopped at Joanns in FL, but it's not a term I'm familiar with, and I am very familiar with what our Joann's stocks. Hi there. I am so sorry, I did mean eyelets (the rings with the holes!). I only got the idea as all the shop bought ones have them presumably to be cooler. Pop fabric is a brand that JoAnns sell, I have seen it in every JoAnn I have been to . It is cotton jersey and available in many designs mainly childrens and novelty to be honest. There is a thicker version and a thinner version. It has its uses but I do prefer the better quality cotton jersey as that bounces back. Many people disagree with me though 😂. Hi there! Pop fabric is a brand that JoAnns in the US sell. It is mainly novelty and children's prints and all cotton jersey although it tends to be two different weights. It is great for kids wear and PJs but I wasn't keen when I used it for a T Shirt once. A lot of people love it though. Hope that answers your question 🧵😊
