@@tokelahti On the old MagSafe model, the cable and the charger were 1 unit. So you need to replace both.

@@tokelahti Before the cable could not be detached from the charger so if the cable broke you have to buy an entirely new charger. Whereas with this new charger you can not only detach the cable form the charger but the cable is also braided.

@@allansh828 well it actually doesn’t really affect it at all. it actually is smart and what i expected. the notch keeps the webcam good because too thin of bezels fucks it up. the notch doesn’t even do anything negative tho cause it doesn’t take away from anything at all. it’s even with the bar so it doesn’t do anything. same as the phone.

Wow! I have the mbpro 2012 too. Is you’rs still fast? I’ve traded mine for a 2015 mbpro. I still miss the 2012 keyboard. Best ever! Like a piano so smooth.

For me, the biggest surprise was the plethora of option configurations! It basically comes down to budget constraints. You pick the price that’s right for you. I believe all of these will have mammoth performance specs. I am not dissatisfied with my M1.

My guess is that it is replaceable and that the replacement keyboard will include all these extras for free: the bottom case, the battery, and a new touchpad. Total cost ~$1K

Lol nah it isn't. Thats just a design choice because the previous keys were big so it wouldn't look like the area around the keys were black, but these keys are shaped a little different so apple had to paint the area near the keys black otherwise it would look nasty.

Luke nice vlog once again. Could you please advise me about MacBook Pros. I was planning to get a MacBook pro with M1 chip 13inch and then I decided to go for the New 14inch. Although I am a normal user, not playing any games or doing video editing, what would you recommend me. Since the price difference is huge between 13 and 14 inch. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Luke. I liked your comments. I was surprised at the purchase options, but it wasn't that hard too choose based on my budget and intended use. I wan't sure I would actually be able to order one today, but their servers held up and I've got a 16" MBP coming on Tuesday. Can't wait to see what it does.

What is the best config for working with vector graphics and photos (think Affinity product line)? I don't edit video - I'm a graphic designer and I will be getting the 14inch. I'm guessing it'll be something from the Pro line but perhaps you have more insight into this. Always appreciate your work Luke, look forward to getting your opinion

I'm liking the unibody inspired design. I am so happy that we got MagSafe back. The notch doesn't bother me that much since I don't do a lot of productivity work on my MBP, but it is bigger than I'd like.

The question alot of us are asking right now is if its worth it to spend the 200 extra to upgrade from the 8-core to the 10-core SOC. Im tempted to get the 10-core version, but is it practical if the performance gains are marginal?

If only Parallels on the M1 doesn't sucked that much.. I am very skeptical from going from my Macbook pro 16" 5500m to this m1 pro or m1 max macbooks because most games (specially older titles) doesn't run very well on a virtual machine on Apple Silicon this time (I have a macbook air m1)... if Apple officially releases a apple silicon bootcamp with good windows gaming performance, then it will a different story.

Nvidia Ampere uses Samsung 8nm/TSMC 7nm process node, while Apple M1 uses TSMC 5nm process node. This might partially explain the improvement in graphics power efficiency. Looking forward to your real world comparisons.

My only concern about that knowledge, is that I use the built-in magnifier, and I’m curious if the software is such that it’ll not let the notch get in the way? I’ll have to try that when they are on display in stores.

@@Stevel_ But it isn't that big of a deal. It just sits in the middle of the menu bar which is a wasted space anyway and in full screen it just blacks out. So, overall you just gain back the vertical space taken by menu bar before.

Not quite. It would have been the perfect MacBook Pro without the notch, with a current spec HDMI port (instead of the outdated 2.0 they included here), and an Ethernet port in the power brick.

@@utkarsharyan "it just sits in the middle of the menu bar" looking ugly, in what was before a seamless translucent space. Then when you go full screen on apps, they create a fake bezel to hide it. So exactly why did they get rid of the real bezel? And what space are we actually gaining when they create a fake bezel? Many apps on Mac, in full screen mode take over the menu bar area and use all of that space as screen real estate. Now, those apps are being shifted down on this screen under a fake bezel, so it's essentially the exact same screen real estate as if they left the screen uninterrupted by that hideous notch and these fake bigger screen numbers are nothing but marketing spin as it's unusable space artificially created from a giant, unnecessary notch.

M1 MAX already ordered. I like the notch because I see it for what it is - an expansion of the screen that still provides a great camera, in the right place. Less crazy about the black keyboard deck because I liked the contrast, but whatever. I'll probably use it in clamshell mode 80% of the time.

To me, the new design reminds me of the powerbook g4 titanium. Though it is quiet slimmer and lighter. But those rounded corners at the bottom and the flat top… Even the blacked space between the keys was also present at the titaniums. I love it.

There was one still image where they showed an iPhone and MacBook and iPad and there was a picture of a girl playing guitar and there were chord diagrams below her showing how to play the chords and it look like a cool music app but I don’t know what it is. And I tried to go back and scrub through it about seven times and still couldn’t find that image. If anybody knows what app that is and could tell me I would appreciate it. Thanks.
