I loved mine. In the 90's during my first run I had 2 co-phased and talked all over the world. When taking them down one got broken and the other sat on the ground for nearly 20 years. I started having swr issues and found a crack in the coil housing. I had the damaged V5000, an unusable clr2 and the second section of the clr2 from the broken made a perfect bushing. Hence you have the VCLR 5002.
@@udx-483muddbucket5 I switched from the CLR2 to a set of stack 3s in the early 90s. Big change from Omni directional to a beam. Took some getting used to. I tried everything over the years. Moonrakers and PDL2. I think the PDL2 was the best beam antenna I ever had
Have no idea what the originals were. I just used those tie pieces from the TV antenna and they appeared to be pretty close to what I remember it looking like.✌✌
No problem. It was a blessing I had the other broken CLR2 because the second section was a perfect fit over the Maco after removing the casting ridge inside.✌✌
Ring tuning is the easiest, and strongest, method of matching an antenna longer than a 1/4 wave to 50 ohms. The theory is that the 50 ohm point is somewhere on the ring, but you have to be patient (or use an antenna analyzer) to find it.
