they have such a huge opportunity to make this game truly scary with some kind of enemy that stalks you in the mines and tries to kill you when you're alone
There was the lore about something being trapped under KING SNAKE mine during Serpent's Moon and recently if you darksight under kingsnake in the mine tunnel you'll see the orange glow of an enemy.
They already said multiple times that they are only interested in creating original monsters, not pulling from folklore. So maybe some spin on the Wendigo, but not the Wendigo itself. Same reason we're not gonna get a vampire.
I mean it was already annoying when desall came out and it was pretty much only that map for like 2 weeks. 30 days of the same map sounds really painful even if its good.
Literally hilarious how you immediately pulled the redditors out into this comment as if we haven’t been playing the same 3 maps with the same ish design for so long. Lmao. New map is gonna be great and people can take breaks
@@ale13442 server stability has nothing to do with stutters caused by rendering heavy assets (for example when you enter a large compound). Also, the new global illumination system will obviously require a lot of resources, although in the current version the lighting settings are very demanding too
@@sosnihuica2k10 It does . It results in packet loss and fps drops. It is one of the biggest issues Hunt players have been complaining about the whole time.Packet loss occurs when data traveling between your PC and a game server gets lost along the way. Like high ping, packet loss can cause lag spikes and in-game issues like rubberbanding.
"We really like the verticality" The verticality is my main complaint for Desalle. Hopefully it won't be too bad. If I can't cover every angle with a full trio of experienced players, then they have added too many angles to cover. This game is actually more tactical than most games marketing themselves as tactical. You don't have SMG's or Assault rifles to spray and get lucky, we have bolt action, single shot, and single action revolvers. You have to use your brain in order to win games. A well-planned attack or defense can overcome a cracked player most of the time and enable you stand a chance against even cheaters. If you melee a cheater before they can pull the trigger, their cheats don't count for much. I hope this map leans into the tactical game that allot of experienced players use and newer players should learn. I tend to shy away from some of the "Gimme" mechanics they have added in the past. I understand that you have to make the game accessible to newer and lower skill players, but for every offensive game mechanic there should be a defensive counter and vice versa. I am both excited and worried when it comes to the new map, and new direction crytek is taking this game. I hope that this august update caters to every player, not just focusing on countering players who play nothing but this game. We are here too crytek, and you have lost a large portion of the veteran player base for a variety of reasons. Chiefly the fact that cheaters get to play uncontested. There are literally players who have tried to offer me a monthly payment plan for the cheats that they use ($110 a month BTW), reported them, and seen them continue to play. Some of these players are well known in the community and I have heard people defend them doggedly. There is nothing that takes the wind out of my sails more than losing to someone I know for a fact is cheating (Because I used to play with them before they started using cheats and was in the discord call with them when they were setting it up). I have recorded and sent in reports for 4 or 5 different people who were blatantly cheating on my team and these people are still playing years later. Ban them, swiftly and ruthlessly. These are straight up bad people cheats aside, and they have no place in the Hunt Showdown community. These are the people who are causing players like me to refuse purchasing skins, and in extreme cases, stop playing all together. They are costing you money and players; I cannot believe that this has been a problem for this long. You think that placing all the cheaters in 6 star is a good enough fix for most of the community (I guess it is to be fair), but this does not work for the players who never lose in 5 star and can almost never win in hard core 6 star (Due to the cheater problem). I would say without exaggeration that close to 10% of the 6-star player base is using either traditional cheats or file manipulation to gain an unfair advantage. This equates to running into a cheater as much as every other game. It is so prevalent that my team cannot lose without thinking that we have been wiped by a cheater. It rips the fun from the game and serves us up to the most toxic, awful people in the community. It's not fair, and you need to fix it because it's been slowly killing your veteran player base. Why would I want to continue playing a game that so clearly does not want me here. I have been here since the literal day it was released into beta, I don't deserve to be treated this way for the crime of having a passion for your game. All this being said, I am sincerely excited for this update and hope that it includes some much-needed changes on multiple levels of this game.
Personally, i never really warmed up to DeSalle, it's okay i guess and has nice spots. I never quite liked the verticality everyone talks about (except when you encounter long range snipers, much easier to get away from them on DeSalle) nor do I like the compounds with 10 entries on different levels. In theory it is great and helps against turtle teams that don't move at all, in reality the sound system doesn't really work for me all that well anymore. I used to be able to hear anything, knowing exactly where someone is or is coming from. Now people walk up behind me and into compounds and I didn't hear a thing. Yesterday we were underground, I heard shots very loud above us and outside the compound, my teammate 10 meters away did not hear a single shot the whole time. Now it could be my settings but I think sound became increasingly less reliable over the past years, one of THE biggest selling points in Hunt. If that does not improve significantly I don't feel confident about the new map tbh... here's hoping the engine upgrade will improve on that as well. In terms of cheaters, I still rarely encounter them (I play in 4-6 star lobbies, mostly 5 though) but the number increased for sure and when that happens, it really sucks all the fun out... that should be a top priority, mods are somehow able to detect them, games on itself still seem to struggle...
I just hope optimization will be alright cuz I don't want to upgrade PC yet. A lot of devs are getting lazy cuz of DLSS I hope Crytek didn't and game will run just fine on lower settings.
it mostly comes down to CPU. It's really, really hard to optomise for CPU bound engines. Most gamers have the GPU side good, CPU is becoming more and more a bottleneck in recent years. Its unlucky, I need to get a 3D cpu soon
@@MrAdas-pe9fkat the moment, due to a ton of unrelated factors, I would personally recommend an AMD CPU over an Intel one. Especially when it comes to gaming.
@@124thDragoon Yeah, I was thinking bout upgrading everything in my PC besides GPU cuz I have 8years old things which works fine but yeah CPU is super old. Thanks
@@MrAdas-pe9fk for cpu I would definitely go an intel tbh, I was a die hard AMD fan for years and years but recently using intel ive had WAY more luck in terms of how well my pc runs, only thing with anything intel is that they run hot and they run hot easily, do not cheap out on a good cooling setup if you go an intel (would highly recommend an all in one cooler) but AMD is defo the way to go if you're on more of a budget
imagine if the hunt devs made a singleplayer game, kinda like metro, with these environments... i love hunt and love the pvp, but sometimes i just wanna take in these beautiful scenarios and can't
oh man, I still see the adjacent extraction points even with the new update. But this is such a very good map reveal/interview! So hyped! let's make #1896 trending!
So I actually tested kiteskin and I've posted the short on my channel but the furthest you can fall in Hunt is 15m. most of the current buildings are within this. But yeah even with kiteskin at 15m fall it only deals half your health. But if you drop to 16m even with kiteskin your dead. So hopefully they change it cause you could almost fall 30m if the damage was accurate to the distance with kiteskin and not die, if they fixed it.
@@NOAURATV Yeah, I saw that, pretty informative, also fall damage is not being "reworked", it's being fixed, as of right now, fall damage applies damage depending on the time you spent on free fall, now they will just take into account the height you jumped off of, and for that they need to fix what registers as solid footing for your landings, right now there is a lot of desync and skating when you involve weird geometry like props or some weird rocks, that's what they are changing.
@@AndyTF141What would probably be smarter is if they instead took your speed when you hit the ground, I think that’s how source games do it. And then kiteskin would just be a 50% dmg resistance to fall damage.
unless they are increasing the players on map it's going to be SOOOOO easy to get away with the bounty without a fight. Meaning less fights per match :( All this talk about deliberate routes based on your loadout just means, less chance players bump into each other. The map is beautiful, but I expect it will be the least favorite/fun to play for veteran hunt players. Could be the biggest blunder for crytek in terms of fun factor. If we are able to atleast know what map we are going into we can choose shotguns every time for this new map for example and do alright, which is the case on launch for the first month. But hopefully the idea of players knowing what map and being able to choose a loadout accordingly sticks in some way. Because this new map is gonna be short range weapons or die. Every frame of footage you can either hardly see anything, or if you can, there's an escape route right next to you. So you won't be able to corner a team anymore they will always always just be able to run away, not great.
I'm a little worried about teams just camping hardcore in the mines with traps, like bounty holders running and hiding in there. But, it sounds like there are a lot of routes in and out so hopefully it'll be easy to flank or get them from multiple directions.
this is my biggest fear to be honest, to have a really big and nice map and it to feel so empty and boring cause you cant see anyone else there til the very end or when bounty has been taken. current maps feel that way right now, sometimes.
I know I might be in the minority but I really hope they get rid of bullet drop. I personally don't feel like it belongs in Hunt. Other than that, I'm overall excited for the new update!
Ideas i wish they'd consider- 1. why not make every compound able to contain 2 clues and make it random which 2 each game has them. 2. make trios always solo boss so that it's actually a Showdown.. 3. you have a 45min match game, a boss that can be killed in under a minute, only 5 min banish time, and only a 30 second extract time. almost certain it takes close to 4 min to cross the map without a fight (couldn't find reference and can't remember when i timed it). balance this by changing the way extract works so not to promote a "kill, banish, run, extract" style gameplay in a game that is called Hunt:SHOWDOWN and not Hunt:Rundown.. 4. stop fixing the "stalemate" situations by incorporating more ways to run and trap. introduce something that chases people away from camping. come up with something similar to burning down a building or smoking someone out. new engine able to handle smoke bombs so these shotgunners and melee players can push the long range shooters?
When looking at the map, keep in mind the tree symbols are more and less dense across the map. Also don't forget about the verticality of the map. Most people forget about the elevation changes when they look at the map
I would love to see a roaming werewolf/wendigo wild target. It would roam outside camps and after losing 50% of HP it would roar like crazy, so most of the map would hear it and then would try to run away to hide in mines. Think of encounters. Other teams would hear it, could go straight to the mines or ambush you on the way.
And now that we have sexy mines and lighting can they please add flashlight as a defualt part of Hunter kit :D And while they at it maybe some chalange alters as a way to get/chose specific burn traits. Kinda like with the older events. But not at supply points :D
Would be cool to have some exclusive mine monsters which hang around the walls camouflaged and only attack you when it gets to bright . Would be nice to have some short parts of the caves which are really dark where this monsters can hang around. so you either fight them or you need to slowly get through this dark passages
That all looks so amazing and made with so much love. I will absolutly spend money on skins like this is a dlc. Like honestly, even if this would be a 20$ DLC this would be the money worth and I will absolutly support thm in continuing such butifull decisions. All the Love there is to the developers
"Will you burn out from 30 days?" Hell no. Not everyone can play games every day, so to those of us who only get to play once a week for example, that's like 3-4 days of playing the map. Besides, 30 days will be a great amount of time for everyone to test the shit out of the map through and through.
I wonder what night map will look like. The interior "dark" lighting looks different, and they mentioned reworking shadows in one of the developer updates.
I imagine it being very hard to chase a bounty through the mines. Like you cant use darksight and if u look at the map u step in traps. Maybe a new way/effect for tracking bounty?
No matter what game, Sniping should ALWAYS require Great Skill and Effort. Or else you get games like BF2042 where bullet is fast, drop is nothing, firerate is fast, damage is high and Noobs/Bad players get Rewarded for sitting back sniping with minimal effort but great efficiency against enemy team.
I guess they did their testing with the events and how much are people affected from burnout from that and determined that when there will be an active event going on the people will just bear through it.
I genuinely like that everyone is forced to play the new map for 30 days. The map eill be good and also its fair for everyone to learn it a get used to the new engine. W
Can't wait for bullet drop to make skilled headshots with pistols and iron sights become a thing of the past. Long live randomly shooting in the air hoping for shots to lands. Very skillful, won't result in a massive increase in lucky shots at all.
My biggest question is: WHAT WITH APERTURE ?? I love using Lebel Aperture on distance like 150-250m. With bulletdrop it will be usless becous you cant see below your front sight...
With this amazing new map, the game is looking more and more like RDR2 but better xD Btw having a roaming boss inside the mines like a huge bear or maybe a vampire looking a bit like the assassin, spawning and disapearing in a swarm of bats etc could have been fun. This game is getting better and better i love it even if it mean i probably have to buy a new computer for 15th august lel
@@caseyorbison89 they're not, have like 900 something hours so far and ive only had that happen a handful of times. though I have always been in the 5 star range of matchmaking so maybe it's alot more common in other star ratings
@jdakiller1017 900 hours is nothing in this game man. Not to be mean but I have 4k hours and I'm 6 and it happens all the time. I wish I was in your lobbies.
A monster I think could fit into the mines is one that hides, only coming out when it knows you're not looking, but has distinct audio cues to signify it's coming closer. When fought it remains out to try to get you for a brief time before disappearing again. You can see it peeking from behind corners, or even hanging from the ceiling before it engages
Hm i guess it will run the same or better on high level of details. But the low level of details will not be as low as it is now so yea. Before the high details were way too demanding for some options, now they will get more reasonable. I doubt low details will still run the same tho
The most important problem in HUNT are ping abusers. If crytek dont block region its only visual change. I just wanna play in fair game with players from this same region. hunt is FPS game how they dont fix it from 6 years. This game is unfair from 6 years.
They said, that the first 30 Days will only be Mammons Gulch and the other Maps will be polished for the new engine. Do you know, if the shooting range will be available in the new engine, despite that Lawson Delta will be updated after the release of the new engine? Kinda wanna test the bullet drop before i get steam rolled :D
