New Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 2019 is here and it’s bigger, more feature loaded and now available with a more powerful engine as well. With the base price starting from Rs 4.19 lakh and going up to Rs 5.69 lakh, the prices haven’t gone up by much either.
Exterior and safety: The new WagonR is longer and wider than its previous version and the wheelbase is also longer by 35mm, leaving more space inside the cabin. It’s based on a new platform which is stronger than the one on which the previous WagonR was based. There’s also more focus on safety now and ABS and driver side airbag comes standard, while passenger airbag is available as an option on all variants and is standard on top.
Variants and Powertrain: The new WagonR is available in 3 variants - L, V and Z. There are two engine options too -- 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre. The base L variant can be had with the 1.0-litre petrol engine and manual transmission only. The V variant, on the other hand, is available with both the engine options and with both manual transmission and AMT. The top Z variant can only be had with the 1.2-litre petrol engine with either of the transmission. Maruti Suzuki claims a mileage of 22.5kmpl for the 1.0-litre petrol engine and 22.5kmpl for the 1.2-litre unit. The smaller engine makes 68PS of maximum power while the bigger engine makes 83PS.

Boot space: The WagonR’s boot volume now stands at 341 litre, which is more than any if its rivals. The boot space is also more than some of the bigger cars like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Baleno. The WagonR also comes with a 60:40 split rear seat, which gives it more capability to stow luggage of different sizes and shapes.
Exterior colour options: The Wagon R is available in six colours - Silky Silver, Magna Grey, Autumn Orange, Nutmeg Brown, Poolside Blue and Superior White.
