REVIEW VIDEO
My primary role and full-time job is to produce written reviews but RU-vid and social media is growing quickly so please follow me on Facebook, “Chris Parkin’s Shooting Sports”. Or Instagram “chrisparkin431” for regular updates on what I am using, what’s in for review? I do not organise special setups for smooth video; you get real world footage of my experiences with the products in question. I’m not paid for content or to advertise my opinion on RU-vid so am free to give MY OPINION, yours may differ. Mine is based on Ten years of paid professional written reviews of shooting equipment in magazines in England, U.S. Europe and Scandinavia. I do not buy items and have no reason to say nice things about what I have invested or wasted my own income in, I just say it how I think it when I encounter it. If you like this channel and would like to help support the reviews via PayPal, please use... www.paypal.com/paypalme/chris... ...and contribute to a growing video channel with weekly updates both on reviews and advice on getting the most from your equipment. Although I have a Patreon account, it seems am awkward format with losses to you and I through their services which are not particularly appropriate to my channel so I would prefer Paypal if you are in the mood!

Great review, I’ve watching the M18 for some time with fingers crossed. Just hoping that one of the companies would take this rifle into PR shooting.....

@@chrisparkin431 You just mentioned in one of your videos, that a true alu-chassis makes the rifle ring into your head... NOONE ever told me that... you may saved me 2000€ with that line. 🙏🏻

@@chrisparkin431 Thank you for your clarification. I´m about to "build" my first precision rifle... Its quite a devastated market in Europe... For once - its even tough to get a high quality chassis - and than you are very limited in the choice of action... and than most manufacturers - like my beloved Tikka - dont sell barelled actions... Going for the Norwegian "Vision" chassis ... Its fairly unknown as they do close to no promotion... Have you may ever come in contact with one of their chassis by any chance?

I noticed that you swapped the scopes over from minnox to Kahles on the Oryx chassis. What do you prefer?

I love my Mauser M18. It's designed to be a simple, decent, cost effective crossover rifle that you can hunt and shoot at the range. However, it's not designed as a precision long range rifle. Modifying it with expensive components to make it something it isn't just doesn't make sense to me. Sure, it's great to see it holds up to scrutiny, but I don't think anyone's sticking a 3k Kahles scope on a $500 rifle that's doubled in price with a chassis and entering competitions with it. Surely anyone in that position would be using a fully custom built, or at least a Sako or even a Tikka instead.

I think you underestimate the build quality of Mauser actions. My M18 is in 300 win mag and I can hit 4L milk jugs at 1000m away with the standard synthetic stock. A highly capable rifle in the hands of a good shooter and good handloader.
@ph4tboy
@ph4tboy 8 месяцев назад
@@mattb5801 good to hear you don't need to spend the big bucks to get an accurate shooter. Mines in 270 and the only range in my city goes to a max of 500m. You said 4L. Are you Aussie? Canadian?

Wish they offered this configuration in 6.5 PRC in the U.S.
@DJUwU
@DJUwU 8 месяцев назад
yeah...same. Do you know the reason why Mauser doesn't sell certain chassis/configurations in the US? No offense to the rest of the world...but the US loves guns the most...and will buy the most guns per capita...so I don't see why their business executives don't want to sell his Long Range Chassis in the US!

how does a rifle like this perform in adverse conditions? i just got a permit and iam considering it as an option but i tend to drag my guns through hell on the way to my hunting ground.
