[NEW] Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wash & Wax New vs Old Version - Which is Best?

Meguiar's has a new Hybrid Ceramic Wash & Wax that is supposed to be the best of both worlds of the old version with better foam and more simplified to use. As with anything, there is always a trade off. In this case, better foam and cleaning in lieu of the awesome water beading. Check it out and comment what you think!

Thanks for the tests. You just saved me $15 from Walmart. I cannot believe how bad this product is vs the old version. Subbed.

Armour all ceramic wash n wax is under rated. Leaves behind good hydrophobics and noticeable increase in gloss. Also gets better results with repeated washes can replace sealants for many people. One other ceramic wash n wax that actually works is turtle wax ceramic wash.

Thank you so much for your reply darknight160😊 🙏 In my country, we have green bottled wash labelled as "ArmorAll Shield + Ceramic Car Wash" while another orange bottled labelled as "ArmorAll Speed Shine Wash and Wax". I will get the green bottled as you've recommended. Thank you so much again 😃

@@priscillang1097 I should be more clear the soap in the bottle is green. But ya I think the shield one is correct. Great soap if you can't be bothered to apply sealant every few months. This ceramic soap has lasted 4 months on some of my vehicles. Use it every wash and sealants become irrelevant in my opinion.

I always thought that the two separate liquid thing was weird and a marketing hype in my opinion to draw the consumer in and make them think it's some sort of special "extra" stuff you are adding to your chemical. Looks like Mequiars probably thought the same thing (or it wasn't as good of a seller as they thought it would be originally? Who knows). I use the Griot's Garage Ceramic Wash and Coat. It definitely leaves a little bit of additional beading and slickness to the paint. Not game changer by any sense of the word or meaning, but it does perform well and does what it says it will do on the label. I don't think it leaves much (if any) protection, but I don't put much faith into ANY car wash product having any useful amount of protection in them anyway. It's kind of a hard trick to create a useful WASH product that has enough protection in it to being anything meaningful. I've personally never found one that actually worked real well on the "protection" end of the product. That being a wash and wax, wash and seal, wash and ceramic, whatever product that claims it can actually "wax" your vehicle upon you washing it. They all wash, but hardly any of them actually PROTECT (Wax, Seal, Ceramic Coat, etc.) the surfaces being washed. After I use my Griot's Ceramic Wash N Coat, it does have some noticeable protection addition to the surface, although it's very slight. And I always use the Griot's Garage Ceramic Speed Shine (one of the best drying aides on the market at this moment in time in my personal opinion) so I am always "topping up" my protection anyway. I have found that the synergy between the Griot's Garage products is really good. I can use their Ceramic Wash & Coat, then use their Ceramic Speed Shine as a drying aide, and then follow that with their Ceramic 3 in 1 wax as my protection stage and everything works great together. Now I only use the 3-in-1 wax every fourth wash (once a month or so) over the top of the Ceramic Speed Shine but I personally have never had a problem doing that and I have never seen "build up" you hear about from some others by layering products over the top of other products or simply layering for so long that it builds up on top of many different types of products. I think a good rule of thumb (which some other detailers have also talked about) is SYNERGY. Sticking with one brand sometimes is a good thing as the company (or at least the REPUTABLE companies) have already done the extensive testing (and field beta testing) with their product(s) so that you know that you will most likely get a good user experience when you use them together with other products from that company. Griot's Ceramic line up (which I have every product from their Ceramic line except the new Ceramic Rinseless wash), does work well together. I have had no problem whatsoever using the ceramic line up together with other Griot's ceramic products. Anyone who put's any type of faith in any of these products actually leaving your vehicle with a "PROTECTED" finish, is not a car detailer or enthusiast by any stretch of the imagination. It's probably a consumer that washes their car every so often and just needed a car wash from the store. Great review again Martin. I always enjoy your candor and I know if you review and test a product, you will give your honest opinion (good or bad) on how the product(s) perform. And that means everything. Too many influencers out their get sucked into that $$ hole if you know what I mean. I know you value honesty and will only give your honest opinion or the product will go right into the trash can. Well, actually, I think you have actually thrown a few dud's into the trash can already! Thanks again for all your honest reviews and testing. It takes a ton of your own personal time filming, editing, and presenting these videos and it is much appreciated sir. Take care buddy and see you on the next one.

Ill probably just stick with carpro hydro2 foam. I foam it on AFTER i rinse off my hand wash soap and it leaves excellent protection. I also have an air applicator for the original hydro2 that works quite well.
@WilliamSwartzendruber
@WilliamSwartzendruber 3 месяца назад
I can confirm the new stuff does diddly-squat to add new protection. Especially if you've had to strip the clearcoat clean in order to remove adhesive. At best, this is a maintenance product with admirable cleaning capability.

I used my pressure washer with a low pressure nozzle and stuck the soap dispenser hose directly in the jug. I didn't mix in a container with water. After spraying on, I used a good sponge to agitate and wash and then rinsed off with a high pressure nozzle. It worked great. Used half the jug though but that's alright. I also used my leaf blower to dry the car afterwards.

In a meguiars video I watched before they said the hybrid mitt makes sure the sio2 stick and without it it didn’t work as well I’m curious if you tried the new wash and wax with the mitt and used both sides of that would change the results ?
@BelLavoroAutoSpa
@BelLavoroAutoSpa 7 месяцев назад
That was with the precious formulation. I talked with someone in development over there and he said it's not needed for the new stuff. I found that if I apply this direct to a wash mitt, it works well protection wise.

Some error here I think , the car is super contaminated as of the flat water behavior on a ceramic coated car , I think this product need a clean paint surface to add it protection otherwise it will all rinse off. And yes it’s for already protected paints and add and longer the protection like a quick detailer will do and the previous version.

I bought a bottle of the "new" ceramic wash-n-wax a few months ago and it was NOWHERE near as clear as your bottle. It is completely solid yellow and THICK - nowhere near as runny as yours. On my black Porsche the protection/beading was okay at best, but the gloss was actually reduced i'd say. Definitely not as deep and glossy as regular old Gold Class or Adams shampoo. I'm wondering if they are still sorting this formula out.

@@BelLavoroAutoSpa Youre right; I went and checked. It is the Ultimate wash-n-wax, not the ceramic. So it's carnuba based. My bad. Still, same results - the Adams definitely still beats it. Also just tried the Adams Graphene Shampoo and its okay. Also tried it as a mix. The regular Adams still seems to be the top performer on pure gloss black imho (although I havent tried Gyeon or Koch yet...)

One thing you might want to consider for products that don’t yield immediate results is to dry the car off and give the chemical time to cure for let’s say a 30 minutes or so, the test it for beading, I’m sure you’ll be surprised

I've been down that road with a couple of soaps where that was suggested. Slight improvement, nothing to write home about. Personally, I don't care for ceramic maintenance shampoos. Give me good results or I'll just use a good car shampoo and top it with a detailer.

Well I hope that meguiar's will not stop the previous version of Hybrid ceramic wash and wax! Because this new version does not seem to be up to date regarding hydrophobicity! With the old version for maintaining a ceramic coating where the hybrid ceramic range is really great, when using it correctly it's amazing. Yes there are 2 solutions but it doesn't bother me! Otherwise good review my friend 👌 Hoping that the M888 ceramic coating will do better, that it at least competes with a carpro CQuartz lite!. Because I like the Meguiar's brand. If it's worth it I would like to test the new M888, maybe even test with hybrid paint coating as topper and maintenance with M799 pro hybrid ceramic bead booster and the "old" hybrid ceramic wash and wax shampoo for a good mono brand.
