These past couple years I’ve been experimenting with braid to leader on bottom baits and man, it’s a night and day difference. Hookset feel way better and braid (in small diameters 40lb>) is way more sensitive and responsive than straight flouro. I honestly think I can cast with braid significantly further and can skip with ease. Give it a try! Maxcuatro is what I use

Try something like the "Lure Hound". I found that sometimes just the weight of it knocks the lure loose. You caught plenty of nice fish. I see blugill fry everywhere. To bad loosing the key fish. The weights are so close.

Tips for keeping the fish calm on the board to get good pics?

Wet the board. Keep them in the water until you are ready to take the photo. Fish grip help in this scenario. And keep the board tilted to force the fish against the bump board. This helps keep the mouth closed. Also, keep an eye on the tail. You see it start to curl, it's about to flop off your board. And that's my tip of the day. Fish hard!

Bro I love you're videos but the way you measure your fish make me cringe lol.... spread your legs and throw them over the side........put your board in the yak at an angle with the net under it. Come fish in Georgia and I'll shoal you some aggressive Shoal bass..... 50% will jump off the board

New Melones was created in the 70s . Great lake with lots of different species . That bridge over the lake on hiway 49 was made popular by the Russian mafia . Some said that they threw so many bodies off it that they piled up above the water level . That's a joke . Lake is very deep in places

I fish alot of tournaments and night tournaments not on kayak unfortunately but night tournaments. Question ever heard or seen anything...wierd or different? Me and partner heard some crazy stuff on a wed night tournament that neither could explain.

That lake is good using moving baits in the morning. When the suns up and going to get warmer. The fish moves deeper but will stay as close to the shore since baitfish will tend to move up shallow to feed whatever they can eat. While the bass stay deep and covers to ambush small baits. When the sun goes down. Thats when u can start using moving bait again.

Greg I was having the same issue losing fish on a jig last weekend. I got on a cool offshore bite at Berryessa and I was losing them at the boat left and right. After watching my footage at home I realized that my drag was just a little looser than normal and I could hear my reel peeling drag on my hook sets in the videos. Not sure if that was the issue for you, but I thought I'd share my learning lesson.

Also I am switching from straight 12lb fluoro to 30lb braid + 12lb leader to see if that gives me some more sensitivity and better hook sets. I've never really got to catch fish in such large volumes on a jig, so that day really helped me get some ideas on how dial in my jig setup.

Just starting Kayak fishing due to your videos! I will try to purchase off your links . Does the bait determine a Bass vs Trout? When I used to fish I always thought it was just trout, off shore at these lakes, not bass.

Awesome man! I think the bass will tend to school up more so than trout when you look on your graph. Those clusters of fishing on my graph off shore were tight together and were a wolfpack of smaller bass
