I think the interaction between Mike and Terry will be similar to Johnny and Kreese’s interaction in 1x2. Terry comes back and is all like “Hey Mike, good to see you!” but Mike is still angry at Terry so he wants to fight him. Mike and Terry have a short fight but in the end Terry leaves but leaves a note with the location if he changes his mind. Which he will
(don’t worry about my name its a fake acc for ck) Terry wants to suppress amanda a bit because she confronted tory during the tournament Maybe amanda wanted to tell tory whats really going on Also suki is in cobra kai now!!! As a fast & furious fan I’m really glad!
There's no comparison. Mike Barnes was just a Mercenary hired for Business while Johnny saw Kreese as a Father ultimately feeling betrayed when Kreese called him a Loser and choked him after losing to Daniel. The latter led Johnny down a dark Path while the former seems to be successful doing well for himself not being effected by his Loss to Daniel which was ultimately his own Fault. However, I do see Mike as still wanting to beat up Daniel so I think he's getting ready to fight Daniel at some Lounge, it may even be a part of the Final Fight in the Season between the Senseis/Adults.
Mike Barnes looks like he means business...because he _always_ looks like he means business. I'm looking forward to learning more of Barnes's backstory and how he coped with such a devastating loss at the end of KKIII. We know just how bad losing against Daniel impacted Johnny's life long-term...but what about Mike? Per his deal with Terry Silver, Mike lost the entirety of his 50% ownership in *all* the new Cobra Kai dojos that were ready to go up...
with barnes in kk3 it was nothing personal with Daniel and kreese he did not have a personal connection with kreese like johhny did so the loss against Daniel will not have had such a huge impact in his ongoing life .
Even if he has no personal grudge against Daniel because it was a business transaction-he might want a rematch just to see who would win, like Johnny and Daniel eventually did (with a double knockout).
I can't wait to see Daniel face when he see Mike Barnes. Do you think he is going to gets worse flashback than Johnny, Kreese, Chozen and Terry? I also want to see Mike fight Daniel, Johnny and Chozen. 👊
I'm very excited to see who's side Mike Barnes is on! It's now my second biggest question of the season right behind the context of Terry's "I told you not to play with fire".
I want him to be the MOST scary and dangerous villain. Just as Silver replaced Kreese as the most dangerous and evil villain he should steal the dojos from Silver and be the MOST dangerous opponent. From a literary standpoint it makes sense to up the ante.
@@Zurround Silver has full ownership over all the dojos, so Barnes won’t be able to steal them. Not a lot of people are thinking about this, but what if Barnes doesn’t join silver, or Daniel. He joins kreese, as they both want revenge on silver, maybe Barnes even breaks kreese out of prison. We’ve never had a 3 way war in cobra Kai, and it would be so epic. Imagine Johnny Daniel and Chozen vs silver, Kim, and possibly snake and Dennis vs kreese, and Barnes.
Regarding Devon in Cobra Kai; I think considering the fact that Eagle Fang is going to be MIA for at least the first half of the season, coupled with the fact that Devon was new enough to the point that she wouldn't have been fully entrenched in the rivalry that was ongoing, makes this make sense. In the end, with Eagle Fang gone and Miyagi Do perhaps giving off the facade of shutting down as well, Cobra Kai would simply be the most accessible place for her to go if she wants to continue doing karate.
For me the best scenario would be the one where Mike remains a wildcard throughout, loyal only to himself and most probably an enemy to BOTH Daniel and Cobra Kai
Makes perfect sense that Devon joins CK. She's highly motivated to win the next tournament, and we can presume Eagle Fang and Miyagi Do will be on hiatus until Daniel and Chozen get the ball rolling on a revival (and Johnny returns from Mexico). Devon will have to find somewhere else to train, and it's logical to join the best remaining dojo. She was only in Eagle Fang briefly, not enough time to build a deep loyalty or get emotionally invested in that bitter rivalry like the other kids.
Anything is possible. But, because she was not in the rivalry like all the others, that may explain why she could go in undercover for eagle fang- just because nobody knows who she is.
Yoo 1 Min ago I love cobra kai and the karate kid love it so much I'm big fan of your channel really love how you break it down and explain the plot keep up the awesome work! 👍
I think it was inevitable that Devon would join Cobra Kai. It was suggested in Season 4 a few times. 1) During the All-Valley - Devon predicted that Tory would win, which suggests she was very impressed by Tory's skills and would likely be inspired to learn her way of fighting. Tory's win would help validate her own judgement. 2) She tells Johnny she'll come back next year as a better and more experienced fighter, which shows she is very keen to learn and progress - but her sensei has now taken off to Mexico! So as she's hungry to learn more she is suddenly left without a sensei. She's forced to turn elsewhere for help, meanwhile there are CK dojos popping up everywhere she turns! 3) She strikes me as someone who will always want to be on the winning side, so joining CK will most likely seem very appealing to her, as they won the All-Valley. After all, CK is very much trending in the valley at the moment and it must seem very attractive and appealing for someone of that age with all the hype and popularity that's attached to it. 4) The young characters seem to be switching sides from one season to the next, so it seemed likely that this would happen again. Interested to see where it all leads. Terry Silver for President!
Since Cobra Kai won the tournament, Eagle Fang and Miyago-Do had to "leave the valley". So that's probably one reason why she goes to Cobra Kai. Devon is Korean-American. The new female Cobra Kai sensei is Korean, so Devon could feel more comfortable with her as her sensei, than Johnny.
@@mickey216 Agreed. Devon is Korean so she is likely impressed and/or recruited by the strong Korean female sensei. Kim might even approach her parents to get her to switch.
Hey Ken, always enjoy your videos. As far as CK content channels go, you're the best around! Really appreciate your work. After seeing Barnes is now legit I cannot wait to see the upcoming trailer!
I think sensei Kim is going to be absolutely ferocious. All the other senseis have matured and take a more strategic approach. I feel like the writers may want some really aggresive characters. Sensei Kim and the return of Mike Barnes should deliver that, I would imagine.
@@KenCole Me too! Though we don't know much about her yet, it seems like she would be in the picture per Terry's request to help turn Cobra Kai into an empire. I picture her being ferocious because if she is the daughter of Kreese and Silver's Master Sensei, you would think she has been learning the mindset of "Strike First" and "No Mercy" from such a young age (Or was it Kreese and Silver who took a defensive style and crafted it to suit their intentions?). Could she arrive thinking she is doing an honorable thing for her family name ( Because Terry Silver can pitch anything to anyone)...Only to find her father's karate style has been hijacked and warped into the vision that Kreese and Terry wanted it to be? Through their trauma from war, psychotic tendencies, and desire to control, changed the style into something she doesn't like. What if she started the season out on Silver's side and shifts throughout the season to becoming his adversary?
KEN COLE: This is a remarkable breakdown. I like the idea of Tory mentoring Devon because of how similar they are, and I think that Tory is going to see a bit of herself in Devon and she's not going to like what she sees and is therefore going to do what Amanda did for her in S4 and guide her down a better path and possibly be the one to guide her over to Miyagi Do even before she herself officially joins. I also think that it's possible that in that Mike Barns image that we got that he could either be ready to fight either Silver or Chozen because if you take a closer look yes he's angry (which is an understatement), he's got his fists raised, but if you look into his eyes you can tell he's nervous and the only two people that could make him nervous are Silver or Chozen
@@KenCole Thanks. You know people can disguise who they really are and their own intentions by changing their body language and faces and hide behind them, but they can't change or hide behind their eyes. Eyes are a window to a person's soul and therefore you can always tell what kind of person that you are really dealing with by looking into their eyes as opposed to their faces. As Mr. Miyagi would say ALWAYS LOOK EYES.
Yaaaaaaaa!!! This is just amazing! What a crazy dream! Please make the next KenCast about this? It would be great to have Drew with you or anyone you like.
Which team is Mike Barnes fighting for? Considering that actor Sean Kanan just released a book titled "Way of the Cobra," I doubt we're about to see his character fight AGAINST Cobra Kai... But, in a few days we'll find out for sure.
@ Zurround! 1000 I think Mike Barnes and Chozen are equal since they’ve both kept up with their training and if Silver is the ultimate villain then maybe Mike fights him in season 6
I hope Devon is a mole. I hope there is a rivalry between Barnes & Silver. I hope Chozen invested his inheritance well, and has money and connections to bring Silver and Kreese down. I hope Robby & Miguel bury the hatchet for good. I hope there is a wedding on the horizon. I hope Bobby & Jimmy make an appearance to help defeat Cobra Kai.
she is nit a mole not every theory needs o be that deep and if she was silver would inf out man. dint think johnny would out any kids in any danger with silver there
Regarding the photo of Mike Barnes, I think that maybe Mike Barnes will meet Daniel Larusso at a party... maybe Mike will go to the party tricked by Terry into facing Daniel Larusso
You should make a video on what’s going to happen to Johnny because the last thing silver said to kreese is “ Don’t worry about Lawrence, I’ll take good care of him too”. And I feel like that hasn’t been talked enough
I think Season 5 will morph and evolve from the “teenage-like conflict” to more of a darker and grittier adult-like story.. dealing with the adult fighters like Daniel, Chozen, Terry, Mike Barnes..
@@pauldavis5665 yes it would be a good match for sure, but looking back, Barns was the only opponent to really win. If he wouldn’t have taken so many penalties he would have won easily against Daniel.
@@user-pc7mg8zj2i True. But Chozen also beat Daniel in their most recent fight last season (even though it was more of a sparring match). With all the experience he acquired over the years Chozen has improved to almost Miyagi level in my opinion.
This looks like it is being set up to introduce Mike and then later bring in Julie. I think we will see Julie in the last season. Julie has a level of fighting system that none of them really seen before. She was taught to fight blind in the movie and jump cars so it is going to be interesting.
I think she should be the mortal enemy of sensei KIM. DUH, each style has only ONE female sensei that I am aware of in this story so it would be the ultimate cat fight, even more intense than the Sam Tory conflict.
Hi Ken, great video, thanks so much for doing this, its great to finally see mike barnes, its been a long time coming, I know sean would have slipped back into this role like a glove, hes a great actor, yes it will be interesting to see what mike has been up to. I think if daniel has johnny and chosen, it wouldn't make sense to have mike join them against terry, cos terry would only have his new sensei and maybe the other sensei, so its more likely that mike would go with cobra kai, I might be wrong, we shall see. and yes you may have a point about devon, is she wanting to better herself or be a spy in the camp. i'm looking forward to seeing how tori does against terry silvers pipe dummy, hope she demolishes it cos she has a lot of rage and anger, but then again anger only leads to hate and the darkside, lol but still i'm really looking forward to this season, and I hope krease gets out of jail somehow and makes everything right for everyone, with the most important being johnny, I think their relationship is special. keep up the good work my friend, martyn from newcastle, england.
As excited as I was for the return of Chozen and how his character would be ressurected , I am even more ciked to see how Barnes character emerges and has evolved over time. My guess is the writers had headaches trying to reinvent Mike and decide the best scenario for him to come back with so many possibilities for the character.. My prediction is in order to even the odds with the villians and the redeemed , atleast early on Mike will join Terry after being manipulated with a sweet business offer that reimburses him for his loss years back and Terry takes the blame while giving Mike his 50 percent unconditionally for helping Terry out.. Mike will see Terrys CK dojo commercial and come looking for him to settle the score and may even fight Terry first..At some point Mike again is decieved by Terry and joins Daniel and Company... One further point ! The pic of Tori coming in with the trophy to confront Terry will be her resignation and point of transformation ..She will call Terry out on his B.S , throw the trophy down and join Myagi Do.
I think Tories is developing further a concious and we might get that moment that we missed in the original karate kid movie with bobby Brown dropping his belt in front of kreese and walked away.
Remember the best movie bathtub scene in part 3, 2nd best bath tub scene is Scarface..but yea remember "do you fight as hard as you negotiate?" Mike will be a salesman!
This is really great made! Well done. I'm really looking forward to the 5th season. I deliberately don't watch previews to wait in suspense for the new season. At some point I hope we get to see more characters in the future. Alli, Dutch, Bobby, Jimmy, Vidal, Julie, and the other 2 bullies at Barnes
Very interesting! I wonder if Mike Barnes is actually on the side of Cobra Kai though?... I wouldn't have thought him and Terry would be on good terms after KK3. 🤔
There's a lot that comes to mind: - I'm excited to see how Barnes' story is gonna go. Sean Kanan (who played Mike Barnes) already teased something interesting in his tweet (I think) that the writers have made a cool story for Mike Barnes. Whatever sides he's gonna be on, I know Mike Barnes is gonna spice up the season so well. - What the heck is Devon doing here? Probably either she really wants to continue learning karate anywhere or she wants to be Tory's friend. I can't even bear myself to think while Devon's been confirmed to join Cobra Kai. I just hope Tory will guide Devon to the light at some point or the other way around and, hopefully, Devon is not gonna get as corrupted as Kenny. - It's just a thought, but I think we're gonna see some spying here, just like Silver did in KK part III. (Probably Demetri and Hawk are gonna help Daniel with this, dunno) Whatever happens, Daniel is gonna find out something fishy about Terry. In that photo of him with all the adults there, either Daniel messed up at spying on Terry so that Daniel gets accused or something else. - I think Miguel has something he needs to deal with that he can't join Robby, Sam, and the others at Miyagi-Do. It's also weird if Miguel is put at the back since he's one of the main characters in Cobra Kai. I think it's Bert at the background, but I wonder why Bert's face is not shown. Interesting. There will always be lots of stuff I wanna see in this next season since each new season's been getting bigger than ever, but these are my thoughts (for now) after looking at the new photos. Feel free to comment if you disagree with me at some point. Thanks
The Thing I don't like about Daniel is that he claims to pass on Miyagi's Knowledge and his own supposed "Wisdom" yet he disregards Miyagi's Quote about those seeking revenge may as well dig two Graves. He's still trying to take out Cobra Kai and even if they were eventually successful in doing so (I don't see that happening) it would come at a great Cost to those in his Circle as well with many being hurt and potentially ruined with his Business being shut down which could also take it's toll on his Marriage considering that Amanda seems like She's fed up with this Karate War with Cobra Kai. Every Season ends with a big Fight of some Sort (be it Tournament or Brawl) so since a Tournament just happened there's gonna be a big Brawl surpassing those of the previous two ending with many hurt on both Sides in the Aftermath.
Daniel always stood up to bullies and that is what Terry is and that is what he is teaching the kids. Why you think Robby left?It was because when the kid attacked Daniel son even though he did bullied the kid he could see the kid becoming the bully himself.
Have to admit, when I first heard Cobra Kai was coming, I was (mostly) interested...however, when it was released, I was too busy (mostly due to my job) to get into it...so, I never bothered watching it. Move forward to season 4 being released, I finally started watching (obviously, starting with season 1)...and, I love it. It brought back all the great memories of the original movies...and, even better, the show was made even better by not only bringing back characters from the original movies, but all the actors who played those characters. I have very high hopes for season 5, and look forward to any additional 'old' characters returning. While I know Cobra Kai is mostly about the "currently living" characters, and where they are now, I also see the series as a "memoriam to Mr. Miyagi". For some reason, I see Pat Morita smiling down from above.
I still think the end of the series will be kreese finding out his girl had a kid while he was in Vietnam, he reconnects with his son/daughter and has his redemption.
Another thing with the photo of the students at Miyagi-Do…with the exception of Mitch, looks like everyone there is Miyagi-Do. Can’t spot any of the Eagle Fang group such as Bert, but would be strange for Miguel not to be there given how he bonded with Daniel and his relationship with Sam. Could be a number of reasons why he isn’t present though
People think that Barnes will be one of Silvers best Sensei's but the writers rarely do what you assume they will. Is it possible Mike will be back to trick Silver into thinking he is with him only to destroy Silver? Terry once promised him 50% of his dojos but didn't deliver. Could Mike be back to take what was promised to him?
The scene where Mike Barnes is mad is most probably at Daniel because as a result of Daniel beating him, he lost all his fortune that was promised to him by Terry silver. Another scenario could be that Mike Barnes is challenging Johnny Lawrence since Johnny is always the one that never shuts up. Another scenario could be that Mike Barnes is there outraged and frustrated because Terry silver didn't call him for the new Cobra Kai dojos and didn't care to put Mike aboard Terry silver's shiip. These could be some of the circumstances. Who knows though.
This is how you do a reboot/reimagining ... whatever you call it THIS is how you make a good show, while still respecting and even building, on the old property. Everything about this show is *chefs kiss*
Would love to see Daniel, Johnny and Chozen versus Mike, Kreese and Terry. The fight nears its end with Mike down, getting told “you’re STILL not champion, get up, get on that line, Barnes!
It'd be cool if they used Korean terms like Sonseang-nim instead of 'sensei' when she arrives. Y'know, because Japanese and Korean cultures are not the same, and in fact, have open disagreements with being confused with one or the other.
Kreese might even help Daniel because Terry silver is still powerful having all his sensei’s and Dojo’s around the valley, I think Kreese is gonna train Shawn Payne in prison and help his brother Kenny get out of Cobra Kai. The real problem would be Kenny having problems with Miyagi Do because he was bullied by Anthony, Hawk, Nate, and Bert. If shawn finds out about this, god have mercy! Seeing what Shawn did to Robby without learning Karate, he’s going to be unstoppable
@@THETalesFromTheAbyss Robby told Kreese about Shawn Payne, so he let his brother Kenny in Cobra Kai, that means Kreese is going to get Shawn to help his little brother out
@@tb90321 yes Robby won, But Shawn still held his ground in the 2nd encounter, if he learns karate then it’s going to be hard fighting him especially if he finds out that his little brother got bullied
Terry and Mike returning to Cobra Kai is like Ken's ultimate dream came true cuz no way in hell anyone though we'd see these characters again after the movie before the tv series was even a thing. I wish every fandom gets the same cake as Ken cuz this man is EATING good with all his favs returning lol
Keep in mind that the fight between Tory and Sam would best be indeterminate--its not a linear series of events, the minute the judge makes a call in favor of Tory the entire fight changes..we only know the beginning of the fight and the end of the fight.
I think the reason you don't see Miguel in the picture of the students bowing is because they're bowing TO Miguel. Maybe there was a reconciliation and they're welcoming him back. Just a guess. I don't find it odd that Terry's offering Amanda a glass of wine. I would, too. Daniel did well for himself there 😁
1:58 Are those Miguel's red sneakers in the shot behind Anthony and Eli? Could be a slow and low camera pan in order to reveal Miguel is back and with the others after Mexico?
