If anyone's wondering, jumping in the void shows a whole extra end credits scene based around potatoes lol

the warden portal should lead to the potato dimension to further confuse those who try to understand minecraft lore

i feel like april fools updates are great showcases of what mojang devs can truly do when not limited by things such as "quality of content" and "common sense"

A few things I found out with the Floataters: 1) they can move obsidian 2) you can set it up so that a redstone block is constantly touching the floatater, doubling its speed 3) it can be activated with any redstone 4) not about floatater, but if you stand on the potato battery it makes a funny sound and sends out particles

Hear me out: Maybe they use the April Fools update to experiment with new features in a way that won't be heavily criticized. Like, they've just built this massive components system and they want a way to test out its features in an environment that is relatively low stakes. That way, they can gauge community feedback and make the appropriate changes necessary to bring their new ideas to the game.

This really put emphasis on what Mojang said, they can make great work. Microsoft just doesn't allows change.

My crackpot copium theory is this is a test run of an official Aether, which would explain the floating dimension full of clouds, as well as the traversal related mechanics like the grappling hook and flying machines

haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but Potatiesh, Greatstaff of the Peasant is a reference to World of Warcraft, the weapon in that being a legendary called Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian that has an infamous questline to acquire

Would just like to remind everyone that there is no mandate at the Mojang offices to optimize or balance test an April Fool’s update. All features in this update are experimental to a degree that the parent company (Microsoft) wouldn’t allow under normal circumstances.

fun fact: the floatater speed stacks depending on how many you use and if the block group is being moved by the floatater, if tick speed is frozen when the player stands on the moving object they get flung into that direction (also can be harder depending on the amount of floatater) also there is a new potion that lets you climb walls

I'd just like to point out as a french viewer that I really like the "Terre De Pomme" item a potato in french is called a "Pomme De Terre" literally meaning an Apple buried/Apple of Dirt and the fact they just swapped it around to make this abomination is kinda funny because it just loses the potato meaning, instead being called an "Apple's Earth/ Apple's Dirt"

Potato is in french "pomme de terre" (or patate but whatever), "terre de pomme" is thus just a pun over that Also, "terre de pomme" = earth from the apple (≠ the apple from the earth, which is a word by word translation of "pomme de terre") Edit: using *from* as a translation for *de* here instead of using *of* / *'s*

Each of the last few years' April Fool's updates have been so much fun, and if Mojang won't give us the stuff in them as regular minecraft things, I wish they'd give us a compiled April Fools' build that includes all the material....

I'd like to correct a few things from the video and wiki. In regards to the *floatater* : From the video it is implied only the floatato and battery can make flying things, the floatater can attach to most non-fluid, non-tile entity blocks, and can be activated by any redstone emmiting block (The battery has a power of 15 when active). And to correct the wiki after extensive testing, the floatater movable structure has a max size of 32 blocks in each direction(floatater is included in this measurement), regardless of the actual position of the floatater in it, not a 30 block radius as stated in the wiki. And this one is just for the wiki editors In regards to the *Toxifin slab* and *Plaguewhale slab* , it is stated they can stack to resemble a dual tailed guardian/elder guardian respectively, however they can actually go up to a triple stack, making them resemble a slightly taller guardian/elder guardian. I presume this, similarly to the boss, is to make them rectangular to resemble a potato.

For those who say as always that Mojang puts too much effort into the April fools updates, just remember that this is their way to test features for the next update. Remember the swaggy blocks? Aka netherite?

I highly doubt any of the things in this snapshot were ever written purely for the snapshot. You can see it from the assets, everythings been recycled. When, why or from where the floatato, floater, grappling hook etc. were recycled is anybodys guess. I like most of the "unique" stuff here, hopefully its been recycled from a potential feature and not from a scrapped one.

It's truly a shame that Technoblade couldn't live to see this

The whole snapshot is very old mod coded, like the whole aether aesthetic with floating island and dungeon, the cloud block is like the open block angel block, one of the peel blocks that spawns mobs is like the cursed earth in extra utilities

You can use the oil inside the refinery to lubricate items, this makes them slide further when thrown

I think the fact that Mojang clearly puts so much effort into the April Fools' updates lends credence to the rumor that the executives at Microsoft are too afraid to let the devs actually change the base game. So the only time the devs can add creative things that change the game is April 1st.

For everyone saying "They do this but cant add 3 mobs" is missing the joke, because they're the ones being made fun of in this snapshot. This is all absolutely abysmal content, the hooks and floaters are the only things of note. Everything else is just basic blocks and reskins, this update is -making fun of you- for having this opinion. The reason why Mojang is slow to update the game is because Microsoft is gonna have them continue to update the game long past it's popularity, probably past some minecraft player's natural lifespans. They're adding things slowly because if every update was The Poisonous Potato update, the game would be incomprehensible by 2030.

I feel like most of the people saying that they put more effort into the April Fool's updates would immediately complain that the update "killed the atmosphere of the game" if Mojang actually added this into the game (also you can clearly tell that a lot of it is just slapped together with a lot of features just being reskinned mobs and blocks or some of the new stuff being very buggy and unbalanced) that being said I'd still love to see the grappling hook in vanilla

1 day. 1 day people will understand that adding a new dimention is not technically hard, adding a fun dimention with high replayability is. An experienced modder could have thrown this together in a week or two (maybe except floaters), but if this made it to vanilla, the novelty would be gone after some time, and nobody would use most of these features. It'd be like 1.20 but even worse.
