I love my Morels. Morel Hybrid 602's active in my 4Runner. Now I'm putting a Morel 3 way active system consisting of raw drivers in my GX470. You think the Hybrids have big VC's, the Morel Titanium Elate drivers are even bigger. I'm using the CCWR254's for mids and the MDT-12 tweeters. Morel is just so smooth, full and accurate. The speakers are so good and can't be localized when tuned. The sound stage is nice and high on the dash and sometimes sounds like it's out over the hood of the vehicle. I've been looking for years for exactly what Morel has to offer. I HIGHLY recommend their speakers.
Hey I was looking into buying those ccwr254 drivers for my mid/tweeter on my doors. Those are the 2.5” full range speakers if I’m not mistaking the part number ? How do you like them ? Are you still running them ? Does morel have any other option within their lineup of speakers in that same size category that’s also a full range driver ? So did you eventually upgrade to the hybrid 3 way you mention ?
First I will like to thank both Dean and Fernando. I am running a Morel Hybrid 62 in passive mode in a Toyota Highlander. Morel all around including their 5 channel amp. (That’s one big amp). I was able to squeezing under the passenger seat. They are paired with a KENWOOD 1057xr, the sub is a Morel Ultimo Ti Sc124 mounted in a purchased sealed 1.27 cu ft enclosure. I would not have tackled this project without your helpful videos!!!!! I do not trust the locals with an installation like this! I am not a car audio expert, but I have been around home high end audio all my life (61 years). I love the way they sound. This is the only car I want to drive now. I believe this is high praise! I listen to classic rock, salsa, classical music, jazz. My kids like some of the modern music. The percussion impact, the strings and piano music are excellent. This is as close to being there as I can hope in a car! PS. I have to change the tweeter setting to flat for my car. I am handling it through the head unit right now.
I had a full Morel/Alpine system put in my Dodge ram 1500 4-door pickup with a JBL 12" sub and an enclosure that I made under the right rear back seat. INCREDIBLE sound! Just beautiful, very accurate and pleasant, not straining at all! The system cost me $2,400, and I'm so bummed to say that the truck motor left me dead on the highway and I ended up selling the truck to the tow truck driver for exactly what I had in to the sound system 😔. Boy would I love to have that system put into another vehicle again one day, Israel and its people put out some incredible products 😄!!
Knocked it outta the park per usual. I love how when yall went into the "Lab" to test the speakers both of yall looked tired and was just staring straight ahead. I know its alot of extra work to bring us along with your work but we definitely appreciate it. Always great info and the right way to do Car Audio. Keep up the great work Amigos 👍
I'm sure they were tired, but it's more likely they had blank stares because they were listening critically. I often close my eyes when I listen critically. They were using their ears, not their eyes.
Going to try this set, but full three way. Active. Had to order from the manufacturer to get the active set, no need for crossovers, also found a guy on eBay that sells pods with ball swivel adjustments to get the mids/ tweets on axis as much as possible, in the sails, will run the 6.5 in the doors, no rear fill, and a 10” sub. Still unsure of the amp at this point, want a 8 channel with dsp. Still researching what would be best for me, amp/dsp wise. See how it turns out. Thanks for the review, bummed the mod was left out though.
So no feedback on the sound? Some people asked for comparisons between the hybrid and the virtus. I would like to know about how it compares to the elate. Specifically the mm3 midrange vs the cmd 700. Also the 6.5 hybrid vs the elate 6.5 woofer… You guys sell and install these. Tell the ones of us with no opportunity to hear them your thoughts please. The elate is probably better… but how? How do they compare? Thank for the professional content.
Hey Fernado I know it's an old video but do you prefer the hertz legend 6.5" over the Morel's. Cheers and thank you to all the hard work you and Dean do to making these videos.
I listened to both in person the other day and I found the morel to be louder, clearer and better audio. The hertz seemed warmer and almost like it had no tweeter in comparison
My experience with Morel is unfortunately not the best. In my RAM 2500 I installed a set of Virtus 603s in the front, and the Tempo Ultra 6x9s in my back. All 4 doors were completely sound treated as well as the area in the dash where the mid range speakers reside. So overall my front soundstage sounds amazing except for an occasional strange resonating sound that comes from the mid range drivers at certain frequencies between 3khz and 5khz. I've verified that it isn't coming from any mounting brackets or dash pieces but rather internal to the driver itself. I've learned to live with it as it's not frequent it happens, although phone calls and the human voice really make it flare up.. Also, in regards to the rear speakers I had a mid bass driver sometimes stop working and or crackle. You'd have to push on the cone to make the speaker work again. I tried contacting Morel directly but never received an email back. I also tried contacting Crutchfield whom couldn't help because it was about a month outside of the warranty period. Anyway, just wanted to share. Great sounding smooth speakers but I don't think I will be a customer again.
@@onesikm3 That strange resonating sound from the front midranges was since they were new. The rear issue happened within 6 months. I ended up ditching the entire thing and went with Focal 3-Way EVO Flax in the front, and their 6x9s in the back. This was 2 years ago or so, and I couldn’t be happier. The sound is even better than the Virtus, and I don’t get that weird resonating sound. The 6x9s have also held up better, although I’d say the sound is about the same with those(which is still excellent).
i just bought the morel shallow nano 6 1/2 due to my doors suck,and then im getting the mids and tweeters,cant do it all at once good lord its high dollar lol but i cant wait to hear it all from my pioneer 99 hell yea.
These are beautiful looking speakers. Never heard morels in person. Would love to see how they sound irl. Love my focal v30s I’ve had for 8 years though 😎
The morels sound great, I have the hybrid 502’s up front and tempo ultra 502’s rear and they sound super rich and detailed! The hybrid tweeters sound so big it’s unreal
I’m looking to spend around $1,000 for a nice 3 way front stage. Focal flax or this morels? Since you guys have heard both please advise me. Best audio channel on YT
btw they sure do keep changing speakers because im trying to find some demo's of the ones im buying and i cant find them but i guess morel is always improving so thats cool.

i have always likes morels i like that that i could hear that tweeter and richer different imaging even here at home on my focals but the track with the piano didnt sound right to me was missing mid bass ? i like the ideal with the new magnets how did it hold power ? and was a sub present ? what was the source of the music ? how did it play (source).... come on dean ...was it recorded with a dac? thanks for the info on them great work i enjoyed the demo
My current car set up is JL w 13 7 with JL 1000 watts amp this set up make bass so clean output I have a 3 way front and a 2 way rear factory speakers they sound way too bright and not natural warm I was thinking of buying Morel this 3 way your showing my question is if I do does the sound Come out natural and warm not bright and tini?
HI, you used an active crossover what crossover point did you choose. I actually would like to see how these perform at 2500hz crossover point what do you think?
As you guys know I have a set of the hybrids the previous version, and what I'm noticing with the ac/dsp and I cross the tweets over at 3500 it's almost like it's a combination between a mid-range and a tweet the way it just fills up for the front stage.I hope Fernando's enjoying them, I'm still considering possibly buying the carbon elate mid by itself, not sure if I would notice a difference or not though?
@@TickleFingers theyll even play as low as 1750, but I dont rec. it. I used to have mine crossed at 2500/24db, but blew one when I didnt have that channel muted in the dsp for 8k,0db sine wave gain setting,& it went POP!( ive removed the 15uf protection cap, bc I get a turn off pop with them) so no below 3500for me
@@christiandshatto7765 I did the math and used a 17uf non-polarized electrolytic capacitor to give me protection at 1771.39 hz @ 5.28 ohms. Low enough that it wouldn't effect the 24db slope at 2500hz. Mine doesn't have any pop at turn on or turn off, so I'm good. For some reason my dsp reverted to pass thru on my tweeter channels and those capacitors saved my tweeters and all the headache. I built them to be easily removable with xt60 connectors so I can remove them after tuning, but I've left them in because they do add that extra level of protection and haven't affected the response. So, why not.
@@TickleFingers i have 2 17uf as well, Maybe I’ll give them a try, because I don’t really know if because I went ahead and put a remote relay in if that took the pop away or by me removing the 15 UF off of them. Because I’m using the audio control amps and I was using the GTO.idk, I may try again this weekend👍🏼
Seems like a lot of money to discard the mid and crossover. You could have just bough a pair of tweeter and a pair of mids off Madisound. Save yourself some money.
