It’s not even tax stamped, the NFA is so amazingly stupid that this legally isn’t considered a shotgun and so isn’t restricted like normal shotguns are
I use Aguilla short shells with buckshot. They are perfect for this weapon. Reduced recoil, great spread and very controllable. I use a utg laser sight which is great for hip firing. Sighted for 20 feet, the spread is about 12 inches wide.
I love mine, i have the magazine fed version. you can add a pistol grip as long as you add a brace to bring the overall legnth to the legal limit. love the holster!
I talked to Mossberg myself (about) two months ago, because Shockwaves were so difficult to find. They said we've been experiencing a (sort of) market test, after their Shot Show unveiling, but they're now in full production. We should start seeing more of them on shelves in June. They're like hen's teeth to find in my neck of the woods too. I installed that safety selector (you received) on my Shockwave, along with a side saddle, and GG&G quick detach sling mounts, between the grip and receiver, and between the mag tube cap and barrel ring. *Those QD mounts are the ticket.* I also got an adapter for the loading port, and have been shooting the Aguila mini shells. Talk about fun! These Shockwaves are worth every penny. When you shoot the full size, high brass "whamo" shells, you'll learn to appreciate that forearm strap, unless you have some front teeth you're not doing anything with. Get ready to enjoy this little 590; they're a BLAST.
www.midwayusa.com/s?userSearchQuery=mossberg+590+qd+sling+mount&userItemsPerPage=48 I just got 'em from Midway. They're pretty much the same price everywhere, so I bought them from a reputable source. The front one was $27.99. The rear one was $38.99. If the rear one isn't "exactly" flush with the grip (I'm OCD as heck), a few swipes with a file will take care of it, if it requires anything at all. I wish I had the money back for my "trials and errors". It would take care of the price I paid for these QD mounts, and then some. I hope this helps, and I hope I saved you a few bucks.
Thanks for showing. I want one! You mentioned sights, what about that laser that puts the shot pattern on the target, or even a white light...any way to mount that?
Remington just announced they will be coming out very soon with their version of the shockwave !!! From what I've seen it holds one less round, I prefer the safety on the Mossy !!! 3 months still waiting patiently for mine that I prepaid 349.
Very cool gun, I'd love to have one...my 870 Express has an 18' barrel and full stock and I love it. I put a synthetic pump and pistol grip on it for awhile but didn't really dig the pistol grip at all but understood how it could be very effective in a late night "oh shit" I just got woken up by intruders situation. I like that mossberg and Remington are both making versions of this new kind of "firearm" so there are choices if I decide to really look into one of these..what I like is that I could have a gun that is completely dedicated to defense and I could explore versatility with my other shotgun because I enjoy recreational shooting...these guns are pretty much designed for one purpose and I believe that they're pretty good at that purpose...
Congratulations on your new fun gun. I really like mine. FYI the newer ones are shipping with a sling swivel stud installed on the raptor grip. I called Mossberg and they were nice enough to send me a swivel stud screw free👍 It is the short screw and needs a 1/8 " pilot hole. Just make the gun look complete. Thunder ranch had one installed on his gun. Happy shooting. I have the scabbard too🇺🇸😄
I have one ,,bought it at a pawn shop, even has a breach barrel totally awesome but I would like to know where you got this carrying case looks great,,,
I have never seen any of your videos prior to this one. I recently purchased the Shockwave, have the exact same scabbard - in OD green (it's offered in 3 colors), just ordered the same safety accessory AND have the same darn shirt in blue. When I started the video and saw the same shirt I got a little nervous, lol. I'm just glad you didn't have the Tractiongrips accessory for the grip. Obviously I had to sub, that's a lot of similarities, lol. Good video. 👍🏼
I’m new to guns, I’m in a very restricted city But I finally moved out of the city and own a place in the suburbs where I’m allowed to own a shockwave I’ve always love that gun and it will be one of my first home defense guns I will buy. Thanks for the video it’s very informative.
What city were you living in? Never heard of a city in America banning these to own. As far as I know, shockwaves are legal to own in every State. Even in California and New York.
01:25 Yeah, duh...my 300 Blackout came the same way - pistol version with Sig brace, which allowed me to play with it until my Form 1 was approved. Mossberg finally figured out the loophole that carbine manufacturers have known for years...and good for them (and us who live in unoccupied states). BTW, if you run mini shells, go to OPSol TEXAS and get their extractor adapter!!
It requires an adapter to shoot the short 1 3/4 inch shorty shells. The short 590S will shoot all length shells up to 3 inch without an adapter for the 1 3/4 inch rounds. You can mix up the different length shells in the tube without a problem. They cost a little more but it's worth it.
I want to upgrade because I've been working this new security job for the last 3 months where I can carry anything from a rifle and it's beautiful Shockwave but now I am carrying a pistol with a pistol permit and the uniform sweet gig love my co-workers keeps me up on my toes shows me love from working 11-hour shifts just got off work now about an hour ago by the lay it down thanks for the video
4 years later do you still love it? Thinking of getting one but not sure. I just bought a 590S with a 20 inch barrel but I think it's a little long. I might just get a fold up stock. But I still might get the shockwave.
Where can I buy a Shockwave 12ga? I have a nice .410ga but now prefer a 2ga and the scabbard is also very attractive to me also! Please advise me. And advice on ammo would be greatly appreciated also!!! Thank you. I subscribed to your channel several months ago.
Where is this available for purchase? I have a Mossberg 500A or B and love it since it’s never let me down!. I changed out the Bbl to a 18 but still hold 6 shells ! In NY this is not concealed as long as the stock and bbl length are factory items and not any after market pieces!
I plan on buying a 590S Shockwave which is the redesigned action so it can reliably cycle 1¾, 2¾ & 3 inch shells without the Opsol Miniclip adapter. You can also mix shell sizes in the mag without issue.
Just an FYI, you mentioned paying a $5 tax stamp and making it into an AOW, but that is incorrect. It's a $200 tax stamp to MANUFACTURE an AOW. It's a $5 tax stamp to TRANSFER an AOW. So if you wanted to put a pistol grip on the Shockwave you would need to pay a $200 to manufacture an AOW, but if you were to sell it to your buddy he'd only be paying a $5 tax stamp, and everyone else after him. Great video though, I'm really thinking of picking one of these up!
I have a Mossberg JIC M500 Cruiser with a pistol grip. Barrel length is 18-1/2 inches and the total overall length is 28 inches. I assume Mossberg had the 26 inch minimum in mind when they designed it.
Nice review. I am considering the Shockwave. I also found out that if you add a mini-shell adapter you can upload 8-9 12 ga. mini-shells in the standard tube. So increased capacity & less perceived recoil using mini-shells.The anti-gun crowd will want to ban this gun eventually. Their true goal is UK/Australia style gun laws that ban all handguns, all semiauto & pump action firearms and the elimination of 2A rights. Gun owners need to be single issue voters & oppose any politician who wants more gun control.
It's actually the "Stakeout 870", I just referred back to Suarez Intl. USA newsletter where I saw it. They have a video on it if you want to see the comparison, I like the strap on the Mossberg much better so that your hand doesn't slip, the remington doesn't look as safe.
I was going to go with the tac14, but the shop near me just got the shockwave spx that I’m seriously considering. Have you had any issues with the safety location? I heard of ppl getting cut during recoil
@@GorillaGlue42 i bought a new safty button bc of all the bad reviews but I end up keeping the original and never replaced it. I added a lazer and a hand grip!
cyrusdavirus007 I added a rail and a flat mini laser on top of the receiver. Day or night, you’ll know where it’s pointing. It works well in the scabbard also.
Wonder if you can slap a Magpul forend on it; not a fan of those corn cob style forends. Those safety switches are AWESOME, but it's a pain to take off that one way screw.
I'm having grief trying to install mine :( Seems like the fore end would have to go back 1/2" further than I can get it before the fine threads would be exposed enough to get the locking ring even started on it? Any ideas?
I got mine to work last night, but it was over an hour of serious dremmling. Thread on arfcom describing process in detail. Even though mine feels solid, if Magpul comes up with a factory setup I'll pick one up. www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_1/428232_.html&page=1
I had no idea that it would not fit!! I have a couple other video's where the guy had one on his Shockwave. If I told you it would fit, sorry for the wrong info!
