I have a Nexx X.WRL (colour scheme Atika White/Red) and I truly like this helmet. I wonder whether it will stand the test of time, because I am not too sure about the resistance of the plastic bits that hold the lining in place but, so far (I've had for some 2.000 kms only) it has been great and since I bought it with a great discount I could not be happier. Excellent review, as always. Thank you!
Greetings! Here's me wondering whether the padding fastening has been improved in any shape or form since X.WED2? On both the first and second iteration I have had the problem that over time the insides start coming out with my head, and needless to say, it is rather annoying. So much as that I actually tried out the AGV equivalent helmet for a while, but it just wasn't the same.. Currently the X.WED2 is my main lid and I am making it do reinstalling the padding after every use, but I am apprehensive whether I'd be making the same mistake again should I go for the X.WED3... Going out on a limb here hoping this will actually get an answer :D
@@NEXX-HELMETS Great to know and thanks for replying! Got my X.WED3 on the way. Not gonna lie - the gopro mounting point on the chin-bar was the final deciding factor that I need this helmet ;)
@@NEXX-HELMETS Got the helmet and indeed the lining seems to be a lot better. Wish I could say the same about the chin-curtain though, which for the life of me I can't fix in place well enough for it to not come loose when putting the helmet on and flying off when removing the helmet.. Guess I just need to wait and hope that the weather gets warm enough that I wouldn't need it anymore.
Been looking at the helmet for a while. Last check on reviews before ordering and spotted your code. Ordered and good discount with the current 16% off intercoms too. Been riding with a Nexx XG 100 for few years and been very pleased with that so expecting good things
I own a X.WED2 and even though its not the quietest of helmets, I love it. However, when it's time to change helmets, I'll be moving away from Nexx. Why? Because their replacement parts service is really, really bad. I needed to change the interior of the helmet and it took me 6 months to gather the two packages (center lining + sides). The sides I managed to source from a store in Spain and the center from a store in Portugal. In both stores, I've had to wait all this time to get the parts. Oh and btw... I'm in Portugal! I even tried to contact the factory to buy directly but they wouldn't sell it to me and also refused to provide a list of resellers. The portuguese shop that manage to get hold of the center lining told me that, for replacement parts, Nexx takes weeks, even months to fulfill the orders. If I wanted a brand new helmet, I would have it in 1 week max but the parts, Nexx delay them a lot. I can't accept that, specially from a Portuguese brand when I'm in Portugal. I'll go to Arai next.
just got the Touratech Carbon Adventuro 2 and cannot wait to ride in it ( made by Nexx) ... I dont use peak since I ride road , but like the large vision of these helmet , will compare it to my Scorpion AT960 wich is much heavier but a great helmet...( with no peak ) ...thank for the great review Allain & Yellow
Good review there! After 16k+ miles of the gen 2, im not sure Id get this iteration, they're clearly making some good progress but Im tempted to skip this one and look at gen 4. My liner lost all integrity on gen 2 making it a loose fit, and Nexx claiming 'a helmet for life' i got in touch. This was not something they would cover as 'we've never had this problem before, but you can buy a replacement if its a real problem' which at 10k miles of use, hardly a lifetime (assuming 5 years is typical helmet lifespan). But, maybe as summer approaches others may convince me otherwise. I have successfully mounted my Sena 20s evo on the gen 2, even with the awkward contours, i simply chocked it with a rubber block toward the top of the mount. After 3.5 years, no problems.
Nexx is starting to make a name for themselves. I learned about them as they also manufacture TourTech helmets. I ended up buying the Nexx X.Vilijord Carbon which weighs 1749g on my scale which is very lite for a modular with peak & internal visor. We pay quite a bit more in the US for Nexx and no included PinLock or shaded face shield.
I bought the Trailmania it's great but I am very disappointed with the drop down sunvisor... after just one ride amount of dust it's now very hard to operate. Is there a way to open and clean the mechanism?
There isnt one in the box, not sure theres an accessory either, but its not really something you'd need with this. Yes you can shut the face shield with goggles (i've just tried) not withstanding the goggle straps of course
Great review thanks. I was watching another reviewer from the USA who lambasted the x wed 3's detent capability. Basically said that the wind just pulled the visor open when he opened it even slightly. Did you experience this at all during your rides?
Good review and very pretty helmet!! Still can't get on with the Arai Adventure helmet, feels like you're drunk when looking through the visor! Hopefully this one doesn't have the same problem.
I have just moved from a Tuono to a Husqvarna 701sm. I use a Shoei GT air2, I'm finding it really noisy and buffets badly. Do you think the Nexx would be a better helmet for my style of bike?
First, i was introduced to your channel a few days ago, and i love your content. Second, how is it at higher speeds on freeways? With or without the peak. I do understand it isn't made for that type of riding, but i really like the wide and large visor and FOV.
Hi, and thank you. I've had no issue with it at higher speeds, well nothing you wouldnt expect from this kind of helmet, even whne the speedo shows three digits
I've owned the original XD.1 and currently am using the X.WED2. With both my biggest gripes by far have been that over time the insides start coming out with my head when removing the lid. The padding just won't stay in place. They said they made it better with the X.WED2, I'm not seeing that. The other major problem I have with the X.WED2 is that the chin-sock is crooked (has been since day 1) and it still lets a lot of cold air in. Somehow actually tons of cold wind is flowing in even with all vents closed. I've used electrical tape to tape shut every conceivable crevice but still to no avail.. Needless to say, I am not terribly happy. Having said that, I will likely risk it again and go for the third iteration and hope for the best. There simply is no other lid that quite tickles my fancy in a way this one does..
agree with the gaps to let the cold air in. just noticed that when riding my first naked bike (only touring / adv with a windshield before). In summer I guess I will appreciate the additional airflow.
@@ArmaMoto I sold it after a few rides. Every time at 1 hour mark it would generate insane pressure points on my head and cause a headache to the point I actually had to stop and get the lid off my head.. Not sure what changes as it is the same size as my XWED2.. Even if some of the new features were nice, I just couldn't use it. Also realised how nice a light carbon lid is so pretty happy going back to my XWED2 even if it means chucking those liners back every time I remove it from my head...
Its a tough question. I really like both. If you want a drop down visor then the X.Wed3 would be the one, plus you have the action cam mounts in the box if thats your thing. The Tour X5 is a classier and i think better looking helmet, which is also comfy. So really the question to ask is if you want/need the internal visor or not?
Great review - was kinda afraid how it would turn out after seeing reviews of the previous model. So I'll be in need to swap my Neotec 2 (if not the age I would just change the lining :3), and I've been wondering if not to buy Schubert E2, or just recently Neotec 3. But there's Nexx, and I seriously wonder if my huge head will be compatible with it (64cm around the brow >_>). Would be nice if the eyeglasses would fit too. This helmet looks very interesting with it's features, and I'm looking to upgrade into the 'semi-adventure' type of helmet (4th year of owning R1250GSA and not even once on the trail...). Will this helmet work for me or is it just wishful thinking? To sum: big ass head, (preferably) possibility to use eyeglasses, no need for it be able to flip up, good ventilation.
Sounds like Nexx have pulled their socks up. I am on my second Nexx lid now, a WST 2 I think it is, and it is a disappointment beyond the comfort and vision. The visor locking lugs are woefully weak and the visor seal absolutely useless. I was going to go the Shoei route to replace it, but now I might reconsider Nexx again. This lid has great features and has been shown off with a great review.
I think this and the new X-WST3 are big improvements on the previous versions. I rode in the WST3 on the factory trip and really liked it. There will be a review of it coming as soon as i can get hold of one
Hello! thanks a lot for the review :D I just got mine home today in the post. I measured my head and got the perfect helmed according to my head size. It is very tight - as a brand new helmet should be. But it really hurt in my right temple and eventually gives me a massive headache. Do you think that will go away once I'm done breaking in the helmet? Really don't want to send it back xD Thank you. Anyone else have the same experience?
I’ve got an HJC flip front helmet, cost £120. To get a better, quieter flip front what price point do I need to go to. Reluctant to go as far as £600/£700 for a Neotec or similar
Really its all about the fit, in my experience a more expensive helmet isn't necessarily quieter, although of course better quality material and construction help. Once you get into the £300ish territory, quality picks up. But the better the helmet fits you, the quieter its likely to be.
@@mancavemoto you're right thank you, I have ordered mine, saw it at ABR and it fitted lovely and looks 🤩spec so 🤞🏼 thanks for such a great review (and the discount)
It was going so well and looking like a contender in the ADV helmet market, that was right up until the mention of a proprietary coms unit. Why do helmet makers do this, it instantly puts off so many potential buyers, me included.
my main worry is wind noise. I own the LS2 MX 436 (which is very loud) and the LS2 Storm (which is almost quiet). Would you mind sharing your thoughts on WED3 when compared to these two LS2 helmets? Does it make a difference in terms of noise?
Totally agree, i bought the carbon one year ago, ended up sitting on a shelf while I keep using my 5 years old 130€ hjc ds-x1.. I might even sell it and get an scorpion adf9000 or smt like that.
Shame on the design to allow third party comms. Looks like you’re really have to accept theirs which is a real downside for me. I would prefer if manufacturers didn’t do this but they do. Oh well one less customer. It’s disappointing as it’s a really nice helmet.
I put a simple Sena system in it and it worked out pretty good. Since the helmet has chanels it is really easy to install any system. Really cool helmet. Love it
I have just bought carbon pro wed3 Chin curtain is horroible to put on and take off. It does not work. Horror. Who designed it ??????? Idiot. Itried to mount peak extension.... I quit after 10min without result
the curtain is a pain to fit, I used a plastic wedge tool to push it into place. But once its in, it holds in place with no problem. The Peak extension is easy whne you know how
What relevance do helmet reviews bring to the viewer? If you want to buy a guitar you must try many before settling on the one that speaks to you. I see no point whatsoever in this content, if it is 'content'. Sorry.
You are talking bollocks mate. It’s an in depth helmet review one might consider, pros and cons. Most discerning viewers of this channel would obviously try on “in house” before spending this amount of money.
Of course you try it before buying but videos like this help you visualize it and saves you time by talking about its features. When you go try it eventually, you have this video to refer to. Dumbass comment!
