3Ds is personally my favorite console ever, even though I have a switch and love that to death I finally upgraded to a new 3Ds XL after years of using my first edition 3Ds, bought it used. Best purchase ever, it's the best 3Ds
People are complaining that the New 3DS XL came out to early, but actually it's "normal." -Gameboy Color 1998 (When the trend started) -Gameboy Advance - 2001 -Gameboy Advance SP - 2003 -Gameboy Micro - 2005 -Nintendo DS - 2004 -Nintendo DS Lite - 2006 -Nintendo DSi and DSi XL - 2009 -Nintendo 3DS - 2011 -Nintendo 3DS XL - 2012 -Nintendo 2DS - 2013 -New 3DS and 3DS XL - 2014 See what I mean?
I would never want the regular sized after using the XL, faceplates or cheaper price or whatever. Not worth the loss of screen size and the hand strain I used to get on the normal 3DS.
Joshy, I was finally gonna be able to be done with my limited edition 3DS craze, and I could just buy face plates. Tell me it isn't so! Or at least tell me this doesn't mean we'll never get it ;-;
I literally have the Pikachu XL, LBW XL, and the Yoshi XL. I would never be tempted to get a limited edition system ever again because of the face plates ;-;
I never complained i just dealt with it. I'm gonna get the XL then since the smaller one which is what i wanted isnt coming only thing is watch me get the XL and 3 months later they announce the small version in the US..... Ill seriously send them a raging email lol
America don't seem to care about Nintendo in general like Nintendo 3DS and America only wants Mario these days. Why America only wants Mario and forget Nintendo in general like Pokemon? Yeah, blame Reggie and today's America for screwing America Nintendo releases.
The normal model didn't sell as well as the XL model in Japan. That's probably why they are only releasing a XL model over here. Not sure about how well the normal did in EU and Australia though.
This 2014/2015 revision is HANDS DOWN the best version of the 3DS. I bought this model on November 21, 2015. I was 13 at the time and I used my bar mitzvah money (or as I like to call it my faux mitzvah bc I never went to Hebrew school). I originally wanted to get the red 3DS but the Gamestop employee upgraded me to the Hyrule edition and gave me a starter kit with no extra charge. It was one of the happiest days of my life. This version of the 3DS still remains my favorite console of all time.
This is probably the best handheld I've ever used but it's such a shame it had a crappy name, they could've gone for something like the Nintendo 3DS Pro, or Nintendo 3DS Advanced
I was so excited, knowing Nintendo was going to announce the New 3DS today. My excitement died shen I saw it was just the XL version. Where is the smaller one Nintendo? Europe, Australia and Japan got it, why not America too?
Nintendo doesn't care about America and Nintendo only appeals Japan/Europe/Australia/Korea. America don't care about America Nintendo like Nintendo Of America and America Pokemon. It's like America doesn't seem to care about America is going strong because America is going downhill appearance is still dominating since 2004 11 year ago and never stop. Blame today's America and new millennium for screwing America and never stops. I guess the only way is inventions. America don't care about America is great appearance. America is broken these days since 2004.
Luigi Mario Aren't you guy getting that Skull Kid Statue with Majoras Mask? As a guy from Ireland who is a huge Zelda fan, I'm disapointed I can't get it.
Every other region gets to have the sleek, smaller, and customizable new 3DS except for NA.....why? How does this even make sense, apart from trying to wait it out for a season that has higher sales here in NA?
You have to also realize though that by the time the XL came out the 3ds was just starting to get its legs in the US due to pretty much no games for the first year and half to 2 years. Then when the XL came out they discontinued the smaller version. So of course the XL is going to do better because it's readily available whereas the smaller 3ds has been discontinued for about 2 years.
This system was really cool. I just wish the upgrades were much bigger than what we got. More storage, more processor power, and higher resolution to push back harder against mobile gaming and smartphones. But I suppose handheld had to compromise at some point due to price points and the PS Vita showing the fallings with proprietary storage cards and too many features inflating costs
I think you underestimate how much of a jump the New 3DS is over the OG 3DS. That thing was severely underpowered. I just wish more games were made to take advantage of the hardware, since games that weren't optimized, basically run identically to the OG 3DS. They had to do that for compatibility, but devs should have updated their games.
Nintendo of America, I hope you're reading all these highly-upvoted comments about how many U.S. gamers want the new _regular-sized_ 3DS... you've shown that you listen to your customers, so please show us that once again!
T Yoshisaur Munchakoopas those faceplates are far to busy and clash with the system. They just look ugly IMO and I don't understand the fuss. That being said, portability and cheapness are good points and even though I myself was planning on getting the XL anyway, I can understand why people are upset about not getting the regular sized one.
Why isn't there the regular sized new 3DS? I wanted the regular version because of the cool face plates... I think I'll wait until that happens (hopefully). Please Nintendo, I hope you release the regular sized new 3DS in the US.
I completely agree. The XL is nice don't get me wrong but I prefer the smaller one. I love the idea of face plates being brought back (gb mirco had them first) and the colored buttons to resemble the Super Famicom. Come on Nintendo, release this in the US
Why is there no non-XL model? Everywhere but North America is getting it. It'd be easy to deal with if I could import one but there's region locking. C,'Mon Nintendo of America, get your act together. :(
I agree. The problem is that America only cares about Mario/first person shooters/casuals/Activision and forget video games in general like Pokemon because America hates Nintendo like Kirby and worldwide hates America. That's why America can get easily walled against international places like Japan. Even internet doesn't help.
There's another problem, the new 3DS XL is coming out but without a 3DS charger, that means you'll need to use your DSi or your 3DS charger or just buy a separate charger for the 3DS LL XL
This nintendo console will always have a special place in my heart. So much love was put into the 3DS compared to the switch and many great games! And best of all playing online was free
I give zero f*cks about the customizable faceplates of the smaller New 3DS that you all are soo butthurt over. I'll happily trade my 3DS in for a New 3DS XL
Then there's no point in doing that because the "new" features the system offers are very minimal. Unless you enjoy browsing the internet on your handheld gaming system instead of your lightning quick smartphone.
Yep. Looking back on this awful version of the 3ds. Seriously, SD card slot behind screwdrivers and no AC adapter included? Thank God Nintendo learned.
I come from the future to tell you the New 3ds XL has been discontinued with only 2-3 big titles that are exclusive to the new 3ds models. Waste of money
What i love about nintendo is every console they made has a very cool features. From gameboy, wii u , 3ds and switch all has it's very own cool features.
We started with the 2D DS and we ended with the New Nintendo 2DS XL. That was a nice closing chapter to Nintendos most famous handheld console family. I have the Creeper Edition Japan Exclusive. I hardly run her. Ironically I setup the console without using a translator, I just guessed and it worked lol.
A really cool revision, I wish that they'd done more with this revision than just a handful of exclusive titles and faster load times in a couple games.
I had the original 2011 model, and it served me well. But damn, I’d gotten used to my original “Fat” DS and its chunky build... going to the slimmer 3DS felt really cramped. I remember wanting the 3DS XL in 2012, but I couldn’t justify the upgrade. However, with the “New” XL, I knew I was getting the benefit of the added features of the “New” models *in addition* to the size. This was such a great upgrade, and I’m still getting use out of it today!
I understand the shelf space issue of the faceplates for the normal-sized New 3DS. I know the US market is really stingy about where we sell electronics, and most store spaces just have too high of bidders for space so that's understandable for the faceplates. But in all honesty, there are people who prefer the regular-sized 3DS for the fact that it is more compact and can fit into your pocket easily. The XL is bulky and does not fit within most pockets like the standard model does. Plus, not everyone wants that big of a screen. As someone who grew up with handhelds, I think the standard 3DS model's screen is just fine. The DSiXL was a bit silly with how big the screen was, and I think the 3DSXL is the same. If people want it, that's fine. But it's rather unfortunate that we're not taking up all potential buyers with this new product. The standard 3DS and New 3DS sell for cheaper than the XL, which would make it an easier buy for consumers since it wouldn't be a hefty $200 tag. As well, there are some people that would rather there handheld not take up a ton of space. And I am one who thinks the original 3DS model's size was just fine. So I'm sorry to say, I won't be getting this New 3DS unless something more than Xenoblade is announced for it. There's not much of an incentive, especially if I'm forced to buy a model I'd prefer to not have.
it sucks thats there being discontinued the 3ds deserves to stay its brought us all so much joy and happiness and now nintendos taking that away by doing this theres so much that it can still have and do it deserves to stay
