I've been using this foundation since it launched. I have very dry, mature skin. This product is fantastic. It plays well with physical and chemical SPF on my very dry skin. Highly recommend.
I've been using this foundation for about 6 weeks. I am 59 and oh my gosh....I love it! Chanel hit it out of the park AND I can use my Ulta points to purchase it, so it's a big winner for me!
I took the leap in purchasing this Chanel foundation. I have used Armani Luminous Oil free Foundation in my rotation and it’s almost gone so I decided to treat myself for my birthday. It is absolutely a stunning foundation on my 62 year old skin. I do have a Missha BB cream with SPF in it as well as the newest foundation from NARS, the Light Reflecting foundation. Because I have a health issue that causes me to have some discoloration on my face, I wanted something luxurious to put on and this Chanel foundation is IT!! For years, I couldn’t even contemplate anything beyond what I found at the drugstore but now I have a drugstore brand that is awesome and this one. After raising a large family, I felt it was totally the time to splurge on myself. Going to wear it today to a winery event…😉👍💋
I'm 68 with super duper oily skin and this wore well for me. I used Skin Aqua sunscreen and a pore filling primer. I use shade BD21, a slightly golden peachy shade. I really enjoy the look. I apply with a brush.
Camellia oil is really overlooked in the US. This and green tea are my favorite secret ingredients. Camellia is one of the facial oils that is very close to our natural skin oil.
Angie - you have knocked it out of the park for me again! I am 56, have combo skin & struggle to get the right foundation that doesn’t make me look older. I bought the Estée Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue foundation after your review and I LOVE IT! I have now ordered the No 1 de Chanel Foundation B30 after this review - thank you so much for all you do. Been subscribed for 7 years, my skin has improved so much - you never let me down! 💗
OMG!!!!! I absolutely LOVE...LOVE the Estee Lauder Hydra Rescue foundation.....AND I could kick myself because I just purchased the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate foundation. Guess what?? the Hydra Rescue from Estee Lauder was really prettier on me. Yeah, I spent $150. on the Tom Ford!!! Call me idiot!! Never again!! Actually I really feel I paid for the gorgeous bottle ii came in...Pathetic or what!! : (
Wow I LOVE that you do wear tests not only with/without sunscreen, but with chemical vs mineral sunscreen -- I wish every beauty reviewer did this!! Finding the right complexion products is only half the battle bc it's so hard to find a match with a sunscreen that doesn't pill. Thank you!
I bought the Healthy Glow but my pores show signifcantly so I exchanged it for this one but haven't tried it. I purchased the B40 rose but it looks like I have blush on - nice and bright face but I think one of the purposes for foundation is to get rid of the red (though it looks so natural). I am inbetween colors; it's either B30 warm (B32??) or B40 which is kind of a tad dark on me but may be okay for the summer. I have the velvet matte in 30 and I LOVE this. Love Chanel! UPDATE 11Feb2023: I LOVE this. The color seems to get better throughout the day; plus this looks so natural. I apply this with my fingers and it looks beautiful.
Hi Angie! I was so hesitant to purchase this foundation due to its heft price, but oh man, it's so worth it! It's like my perfect “no makeup” foundation, and it plays so well with the newer NYX Bare With Me Concealer! Thank you so much for this review Angie and for always sharing such reliable product recommendations!
I just bought it. Hated the price, but gotta say I am impressed so far. Doesn’t accentuate the lines and pores like others do. That is my goal. I used Elf (cheap) primer first.
Thanks so much for your thorough reviews of foundations for aging skin. Yours are THE best. I am 51 and have many foundations. I bought this one from your recommendation and it is my favorite of all time! Holy grail for sure. I want to use it daily. I’m so happy with it. My skin looks better than it has in years. Thank you so much for helping us find the best foundation. ❤️
Chanel No. 1 is my new holy grail foundation. It is perfect on my normal to slightly dry skin and looks the most natural of all my foundations, while evening out my skin tone. The only negative for me is the price. Thank you for your thorough review!
I 🖤🖤 Chanel foundation. I have this one, and it’s beautiful on the skin. I wear it on top of Chanel’s CC cream for extra coverage. It also plays nicely with my other Chanel foundations.
This is music to my ears. I had planned to make this my next purchase as it sounded good and now after this review, I’m sold. You have the best reviews, especially for us mature gals. You’re a gem 💎
Angie, your skin looks amazing in that foundation, thank you for trying it. FYI, as an ex Chanel VP, the Camelia oil is a reference to Coco Chanel's favorite flower, the camelia.:) Have you ever tried the Armani luminous silk foundation? I wore it for years, and would love to see how it compares. The look is similar. Trying the new Chanel asap, thank you again. xx
I have such a good skin color match with Armani Luminous Silk foundation, it is my holy grail. If I remember correctly, Angie did not like it at all. I think Luminous Silk tends to be a bit fussy with application. I find I need to shake it a lot and there still tends to be variation from the beginning of a bottle to the end of use. Working in medicine, it often does not hold up to the rigors of my work day. Currently using the Physician's Formula dupe for this and find it holds up well as I return to wearing foundation after using concealer as a foundation during pandemic and mask wearing.
@@javadivawithdog I love Armani LS! I don’t know if I’d get on with this Chanel foundation as it was so strange on my hand (I know hand & face are vastly different)
I have only seen good reviews on this foundation but I was waiting for yours. I noticed you were wearing it in other videos and the difference is amazing. You look radiant. The difference between a 50 usd foundation and a 70usd one is just two bottles of wine........so why not?
I'm 66, live in Colorado, have used Retin A for the past 35 years. The Sephora foundation is the best consistently. I've used most of all the foundations you are advertising. I use shade P11.5. It does oxidize to a warmer shade making it more neutral which is perfect for me. More expensive is not mean better.
Yey! sis, 1M subs! congratulations. I might have to try this foundation, it looked lovely on you. I have tried so many lately there are not enough days in a week to wear them all lol oxox Nisha
I REALLY HOPE YOU READ ALL OF THIS. I'm a fairly new subscriber and fan. I caught one of your videos a couple months ago and have been watching several of your videos including your pm and am skin care routine. I have to say that I'm so impressed by how much research you've done to learn so much about how skin care and skin care products work and that since there was no one your age putting out anti-aging videos or I like to call it aging gracefully, you filled that void. I also watch a board certified cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Shereene Idriss, that's her channel's name and a channel called Doctorly that is made up of Dr. Shah and Dr. Maxfield that are board certified dermatologists. I've watched a ton of videos from both channels on explaining how skin care and skin care products work. Dr. Idriss sometimes explains things better. I'm 41 and just got into skin care in fall of '21. I feel late to the party of skin care since Dr. Idriss said our skin starts to lose collagen by 1% every year after our mid-20s if we don't use any skin care products. I'm going very slow with retinoids. I started with just retinol this past fall and now I'm on retinaldehyde. Next I'm going to get Tretinoin 0.025% then up from there. I'm interested in preventing age spots also so I might sign up later to get the Agency dark spot helper. Do you use that on your face, neck, chest and hands? Or just your face? I have to watch that video again of your 4 holy grail multi takers so I can get the agency link. I wanted to tell you that I think it is a brilliant idea of putting Vitamin C on the back of your hands to brighten them and fight age spots! I started doing that. I just wanted to give you a heads up on a few things you said in your videos. You can put your Vitamin C in your mini fridge you have on your bathroom counter. It'll keep it clear longer. Coenzyme q10 doesn't increase your skin cell turnover time. It is a great antioxidant and can even tighten skin though so I'll probably want to add that into my skin care routine in a few years. You need to wait a few minutes to get the full benefits of your lactic acid and you're not supposed to use it every day. At the most, you want to use it 3-4 times weekly. I watch board certified dermatologists on RU-vid and they all say that sunscreen prevents future skin damage. It does not help repair past damage. Glycerin goes into the dermis so it is a great humectant. It gets moisture from your blood supply which is one reason I drink 8 cups of water daily. Hylauranic acid's molecules are too big to go through to your dermis so it just sucks moisture from the top layer of your skin (the stratum corneum). If your skin isn't damp then it can make your skin inflamed. It's highly over rated. It's good if your skin is damp for a plumping effect. UVA rays penetrate window glass so even if you're inside all day you should still reapply sunscreen at least once. Dr. Idriss highly recommends using goggles or some kind of cover for your eyes (even with eyes closed) when using a LED mask because the light can be too bright for your eyes even just 10 minutes every other day. You've got everything else covered in your videos. Are you looking forward to turning 60? You look fantastic! You easily look like you are in your late 40s. I'm very happy for your success and look forward to your future videos. Well, I might not be done with watching your past videos. :) A subscriber and fan, Melissa Galech.
Wow, looks lovely. Can't imagine anything looking better. I was going to go for the Chanel water touch. I think I will go in and try a few of them before deciding. But I think the #1 will be the winner. Thank you
Hi Angie! Thanks for your review. I purchased 1 de Channel this weekend and I am addicted. Since I am 69 with combination skin, I worried that I might be too glowy. Instead, it is glorious…disguises my pores and gives me a fresh, youthful, and dewy look. $70 seemed high until I saw the results. Thank you!!!
The foundation looks great, so though other foundations you had tested in the past. To me, its price is a deal-breaker, $70 X 12 we are talking about $840 a year for a Chanel brand, nop. Thanks for the review Angie, I am been learning and using most of your products, especially the skincare routine that made a huge improvement on my skin texture and appearance. Love the way how you test them and check ingredients.
Chanel hit it out of the park with this one. I have dry, sensitive skin and I love this foundation. I'm 56 with under eye crepiness and texture around my mouth and chin area. This foundation appears to diffuse these problem areas. My only complaint is the color range. I pull golden and I find BD 41 to be a hair too light. The next jump is BD 91 which I've purchased to mix especially as we move into warmer weather. I would prefer not to mix but this foundation is worth it.
Angie, I want to recommend Retin-A with Obagi blender on your upper lids as it will absolutely remove the tiny folds I see on them aka ‘hooded eyes’. I am 66 & my eyelids are that of a young woman thanks to this ‘Holy Grail’ in skin care💫
Purchased last night after watching the review. I also have the Chanel Velvet same problem, too, drying in winter months. I have no problem paying the price , I want a new Holy Grail foundation that does not settle into wrinkles or cake. I can't wait to receive the product.
So glad you liked it! I've been using it for a month now and I am completely in love with it. Used my Ulta points to get some $ off and it was worth it!!
Angie, you look fabulous! This foundation is absolutely lovely! The color match to your skin is amazing, lasts all day, feels so light on your skin as if you have nothing on. Super pleased that I have it, even before Angie reviewed it!
Always appreciate these videos. I wonder if you would please consider always adding to these reviews whether these items have fragrance or not. This is always most helpful for someone like myself and others who are fragrance sensitive. Thank you
I’m so excited you found a new holy grail foundation. I don’t like buying foundations until I’ve seen your reviews first. $70 is a little steep for me but it is beautiful on your skin. 😍😍😍
I thought how clear and beautiful your skin looks even without makeup Angie. This is definitely going to be on my must have list as soon as it comes to little ol' Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️ Thankyou. And maybe you could do another eye make-up video. Your eyelids look beautiful. Thanks Angie! 😊
Awesome review! Thank you! I tried this in an airport duty free shop after watching your video. I just bought a bottle in my shade from my local Ulta. It checks all the boxes for me. I've never spent this much on foundation, but I'm so glad I did. Holy grail for sure!!
Unless my skin looks like porcelain and some kind of magic happens I just can’t spend that. 😕 It’s so frustrating that brands expect us to pay more simply for the name vs what’s inside the bottle. I don’t think I’d notice a difference between this and the top drug store foundation? Not sure. Does anyone else feel similar? I’d be so curious if you did a blind test. Your fav drug store vs high end and see what happens!
Only problem with drug store foundations, is you can’t try them on first. I have wasted so much money on drugstore foundations. None of the foundations matched me, and all the undertones were off, on me, unfortunately. So, I buy foundations I can get a sample 1st, Sephora, and Nordstrom, they give out samples.
@@janicecroissiert9116 fyi you can return any makeup you buy at drug store after you try. They have a deal with the vendors to return to them so it’s not as though the drugstore is losing money.
I understand what you are saying. My upper limit spend was about £35 and now the premium beauty houses are bringing out foundations in the region of £55. It feels a big leap in price and I’m not sure I want to pay that huge jump in price
I couldn't sleep at night knowing I spent $70 on 1oz of foundation considering all the bills and expenses that are being debited from my bank account each month. I guess it's not for me. But thanks to Angie for showing us how a $70 foundation performs.
Hi Angie I bought this foundation 2 weeks ago and I’m not wearing it as we are still wearing masks..But after watching you I’m going to use it soon..It looks amazing on your skin so I need a boost to my skin..Tks Angie ur review was excellent ..
First, your skin alone looks amazing! Great review as always! Now, here comes the question. I know you get this all the time. Did you get a little filler in your cheeks and lips recently? I know you will tell us if you did, I just thought I noticed them a bit fuller. 💕
Tried B20….too light. Tried B30…..perfect! Getting the next darkest in neutral for summer months! Absolutely love this. Hate the smell….but am willing to suck it up….because I love it so much..,and it fades pretty fast.
I love this too! The price is crazy which is why I'm glad I can vary days with other faves that I love so I don't run out too soon. This foundation looks GORGEOUS on you... and it's a little obvious that you love it too - when something makes you feel and look as good as this one does, it's hard not to get excited! xoxox
Great review Angie! I’m looking for a new foundation as my skin has changed a lot this past year. I’ll have to try it. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Yay!! Thank you for reviewing this! I’m definitely going to to give it a try! I love when you do makeup reviews! Would you consider doing a full face of new releases? Have a great weekend Angie! 🥰
Looking so beautiful in white and hurray we have a winner ! Always so thoughtful and thorough with everything . Wishing you a great weekend Angie ! 👏👏♥️Pam
Angie, thank for this great review. I bought this foundation as a Birthday splurge. I have never had much luck color matching with Chanel so this was my first Chanel foundation. I am in love. My skin is different than yours - mature (63), not dry or oily but tend to be more dehydrated in the winter. I swear this foundation looked better a few hours after application than it did right off the bat. Yes, it’s expensive but that’s why it’s a splurge for me. 😊
Thank you for going to the time and trouble of testing this foundation but you lost me at $70/ounce. But, you're right you can use it for special occasions.
I was so sad to see my Lancome Absolue makeup Replenishing Cream foundation discontinued, and have been on the hunt for something to replace it with, and I think I might have to try this one! I think you look amazing ❤
So excited to try it! Have been waiting for your review to confirm that this new foundation makes sense for my skin type. Thank you for a very thorough review!
Love it! You should probably know that filter you use on your video is noticeable - the blur shows in certain distances, light, and with motion. You are truly an inspiration! :)
Angie, I love Channel Foundations! They are worth every penny because It lasts so long and it is as good on the last day as it was on day one. More importantly, it is a perfect match for my hard to match skin. I will be checking this out next time I am in Nordstroms! I love the concealers too, please do a review on them!
I tried this too and have normal to dry skin. 100% agree that it looked so skin-like; softly luminous, great color match, long lasting. I used my Ulta points to knock down the price to a more palatable price!
Angie that foundation in natural light wow!! I tried it on my hand and it felt dreadful, I really need to get a sample of this as it’s spendy. I know my hands aren’t my face but I hated the feel of it, yet it looks unreal on you.
Angie you look amazing. I hope you are proud of how phenomenal you look and how you’re dispelling the myths of ageing with every video you make. Thank you for the review!
I purchased and have to say I love the new Nars Light Reflecting Foundation much better. I will be returning this one. I thought it made my skin look dull.
It is sold at Ulta, and you can get points, which is a bonus! If there is a Chanel boutique in your town, they will give a sample - which is what I did. It is just as nice as you say... but, like you, I was turned off by the $70 price tag and decided that I have plenty of foundations already.. If it were $50, I'd go for it!
Angie congratulations on everything and thank you from the bottom of my heart. After this review I purchased the foundation and I do absolutely love it adore it. I just turned 69 and I think my skin is in good shape. In great part thanks to you. However I’m not quite sure which method of application is the best. What do you use? Your fingers, brush, or sponge? My daughters wedding is coming up on June 24 and I want to do the best I can do for that weekend in particular! It’s in New Orleans so I really need to know what I’m doing. We are having an exquisite team of make up artist to do our make up that day. That comment was too rambling and I apologize I know your time is extremely valuable. Thank you dear Angie!
Congratulations on the upcoming wedding! I like the Chanel applied with a sponge best, start with lighter coverage and only build it up if/where you need it. Hope everything is fabulous that weekend!! xo ~a.
Angie, I have to compliment you on your beautiful skin. I’m always in awe of how great it looks. What products/procedure would you say helped you achieve the even skin tone?
Been wearing the number 1 a little over a month and LOVE it! Thank you for the review and tring it with all the sunscreen, etc possibilities underneath. You are the best!
I was so impressed by the look of this foundation on your skin, especially in different lights. Wow! it was beautiful. You have a beautiful skin;. So, light foundations look great on you. With my skin, it may not, as I need more coverage. However, I am intrigued to try it. Hope Nordstrom will give me a sample. Thanks for the review.
I'd pretty much stopped wearing sunscreen on my face (I know, I know 😭) because everything I tried hurt my face so much and pilled really quickly. Stumbled across your videos the other day, ordered the Australian botanical, and am now happily wearing sunscreen again haha. Ty!!
I swear angie you seem to be aging in reverse. Your skin has been looking amazing! I had a question for you. How do you not have the dreaded Jowls? What part of your skincare routine do you think attributes to that? I’m just blown away by how fabulous your skin looks these days.
I enjoy foundation Friday. Angie looks good in all the foundations and also without foundation. Not sure I personally would spend $70 for a foundation but fun to see the results. ☺️
I'm impressed with how this performed on you, Angie. We are close in age. I'm 59 and turn 60 next January. I had another Chanel foundation that I loved (VITALUMIÈRE AQUA Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15) which was $50. I'm considering Kosas Revealer foundation, and I wonder how the No. 1 de Chanel compares. Kosas is only $42.00
I'm just starting to use this one and I'm in love with it... I have been using Chanel for a long time (a different one) then I tried YSL unsuccessfully until I found this one ❤
Just got my bottle today! Doing my mini test, so far so good for me too! Got a beautiful new lippy from Chanel as well. Rouge Coco Bloom in Radiant, perfect color, plus, as I usually find with Chanel lip, makes my teeth look whiter. I wonder if the SD Alcohol was necessary in the Velvet due to its minimal SPF of 15. No SPF in No 1. Thanks for this timely review!
Dry skin queen is through watching the review. Thank you Angie. I might try this one on my text trip to town. Not only do I have dry skin but also AK winters are brutal for the skin.
Our son is getting married tomorrow and I rewatched your self care video from early in quarantine days. I have to say that I just loved your hair up, Angie!! Do you ever wear it up for fun? It would look cute in the occasional video. Just my own thoughts, but wanted to let you know I think it is a nice look. Have a great weekend!! Come on Spring!!
I love it too Angie! I have dry/combo skin and every time I wear it, it looks amazing, and my skin feels lovely the next day. My holy grail too! I was waiting for your opinion- I knew you wld love it!!! Yay xx
I am trying my best to just focus on the effect of the make up but all I can think is WOW YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL 😍 I hope I get to my 50s youthful and beautiful too!
Hi Angie, can you expound more on the scent of the foundation for us chemically sensitive folk? The other Chanel foundation was beautiful but gave me a horrible headache the entire wear time. Is the #1 Chanel scent more subtle, less floral...? Why, oh why don't they make an unscented version??? :( P.S., I would LOVE to see an Elf skincare and cleansing balm review.
I recently purchased this foundation but it doesn't look nearly as good on my skin. I am 54 with normal to dry skin. I'll keep trying it though. Your skin is simply gorgeous!
I was able to find the old formula online at Saks in my color. I ordered 2 because I panicked, now I wish I would have waited. Your skin looks amazing with the new formula. Thanks for foundation friday's. Love them!
I wish I could afford that beautiful foundation! Thanks for the test! I still reach for my elf camo cc cream. Great bargain foundation, very buildable, lasts 12+ hours or so!
Angie, how exciting to find another HG! Your makeup looked so beautiful in this video. Question: are you looking at the new Nars foundation? I’ve got my eye on it but wanted your thoughts. 💜😀
How does this woman get better looking over the years? I'll have what she's having. Btw: Angie, since some folks are going back into the office 😞have you ever considered showing foundation under office lights?
@@atomiclisa agree…NO ONE wants to go back, especially with gas prices the way they are…let’s add two hours into our, day. Way to job satisfaction…not!
@@claudiameyer5275 The VP's are saying they want people in office to facilitate "collaboration". Uhhm, just what do they think we've been doing for 2 years?
The video that you posted where you said you were testing this out, your skin looked amazing, I knew I had to get a bottle asap!! My bottle is on the way now, I'm even more excited to try it after watching this video!! Thanks for your channel!!
Angie, I love your channel, and have used many of your recommendations over the years. I cannot spend $70 for 1 oz of foundation when I have found combinations of other foundations for much less which work really well from my 63 year old skin. I use IT cosmetics CC plus and Loreal true match combined with a drop of beauty oil. Lasts all day, covers my rosacea prone skin and looks great! Thanks for the video, I enjoyed watching it it does look great on you.
