New Opel Corsa-e 2020 Test Drive Review POV | 100% Electric.
The Electric Car for Everyone: New Opel Corsa-e for €29,9001
Sixth-generation Corsa: with electric driving range up to 337 kilometres (WLTP)1
Attractive leasing rates in Germany: Corsa-e available from €299 per month
Powerful: 100kW (136hp) in every Corsa-e
Active safety: systems include active lane assist and front collision warning
Bright idea: IntelliLux LED® matrix light for first time in high-volume small car segment
Successful: Corsa elected “Best Buy Car of Europe” by AUTOBEST, winner of “Connected Car Award” from Auto Bild group, “Company Car Of The Year” title-holder
The Opel Corsa is democratising electric mobility. With the all-new, sixth-generation Corsa, Opel is offering for the first time a battery-electric version with a range of up to 337 kilometres (WLTP)2. The Corsa-e is orderable for €29,900 (RRP incl. VAT in Germany). Where applicable, incentives lower the price.
The Corsa-e Selection already offers automatic climate control with remote control, electric parking brake and keyless start, the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible Multimedia radio with 7-inch colour touchscreen and a digital cockpit. Systems such as forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, active lane assist, traffic sign recognition and cruise control are on-board at no extra cost. The Edition is the next higher equipped variant. The Corsa-e First Edition fulfils nearly every wish. Standard equipment here includes LED headlights, 17-inch light alloy wheels and a leather-trimmed steering wheel. The new-generation Corsa additionally offers segment-leading safety systems.
The new Corsa-e offers state-of-the-art electric mobility. With a range of up to 337 km according to WLTP2, the five-seat Corsa-e is suitable for every-day use. The 50 kWh battery can be fast-charged to up to 80 per cent state-of-charge in 30 minutes. The Corsa-e is ready for all charging options - via wall box, high-speed charging or cable for household sockets - and an eight-year/160,000km warranty covers the battery.
The driver can choose from three driving modes - Normal, Eco and Sport. Sport increases driving dynamics, with a moderate effect on driving range. In Eco mode, the Corsa-e supports the driver to achieve greater efficiency.
The Corsa-e’s propulsion system combines emission-free driving with a maximum “fun-to-drive” factor. Thanks to the 100kW (136hp) power output and a 260 Nm of instantaneous maximum torque, the highlights include responsiveness, agility and dynamic performance. The Corsa-e needs only 2.8 seconds to sprint from zero to 50 km/h, or only 8.1 seconds from zero to 100 km/h - a match for sports cars. The maximum speed of 150km/h is electronically controlled.
The Corsa-e delivers a dynamic drive thanks not only to its permanent-magnet synchronous motor but also to its sporty design, while retaining the compact exterior dimensions of previous generations. With a length of 4.06 metres, the Corsa remains an agile, practical and well-arranged five-seater. Aerodynamically optimized wheels further enhance looks as well as efficiency. The roofline is coupé-like and 48mm lower than that of the previous generation, without detriment to headroom. The driver sits 28mm lower. Handling and driving dynamics benefit from the lower centre of gravity. The handling of every new Corsa variant is responsive and dynamic, for maximum fun behind the steering wheel. Customers can further upgrade the interior with leather seats.
The Corsa-e uses a heat pump to warm and cool the interior. A heat pump is more efficient than a conventional HVAC (heating ventilation air conditioning) system, requiring less energy from the battery, to the benefit of driving range.
Technologies and assistance systems more often found in higher market segments make their debut in the Corsa-e. The top features include the adaptive, glare-free IntelliLux LED® matrix light that Opel offers for the first time in the small car segment. The eight LED elements, controlled by a high-resolution front camera of the newest-generation, continuously adapt the light beam to the prevailing traffic situation and the surroundings. The Corsa-e is also optionally available with especially efficient LED lights that save more than 80 per cent of energy compared with halogen, without compromising light output; on the contrary, thanks to a special reflector technology, the LED headlights also turn night into day.
Advanced driver assistance systems provide tangible additional safety. Thanks to the high-tech front camera, traffic sign recognition detects a wide range of information, such as LED signs. The speed limits saved in the system appear on the display.

I own one of these, and I can tell you right now, it is very hard to do over 200km in this car on one charging. And driving in eco mode during summer is impossible, because the A/C power is reduced signigicantly. But overall I love this car, it drives very well and as you said it is perfect for city driving

Fun aside: driving with windows open increases energy use more than running the AC, at least at medium and higher speeds where drag is a big enough factor...

200km is not enough. If you would tell me 300km in average then I would say the car worth the money, but with 200km you will need to charge everyday which is unacceptable. It's a beautiful car and I love electric cars, but 200km is way too short distance. Thanks for the info!

Too bad.. I was thinking on leasing one. But I have 550km to work. I don't have time to charge every day. 😔 So the old Renault Mégane diesel from 2012 will do for some more time.

I have this car from june and I really love it! I’m happy to hear that you like it so much, beacause you have a Tesla and I think that’s the best electric car in the market. But the Corsa e is really more affordable. To drive this car is a pleasure. I’ve made 18000 kms and every day I’m eager to drive again!

In the UK your are never more than a few miles from a charging station. The whole world will be like that in a year or two... Range in gas cars is not that huge. Less than 300 mile range is super common in Ice vehicles and I doubt you can say that you are never further than 4 miles from a gas station in any country...

show me a 99% electric car please. This one is 100% electric so there has to be cars that are various % electric for that 100% to make sense as a comparison... How do you specify a % for a hybrid for example... seems an impossible comparison to make....
@SDADanCars
@SDADanCars 4 года назад
Actually if you calculate you can find out how many % it is electric an Hybrid car ...anyway good point 👍
@atohms
@atohms 3 года назад
Actually if you’re driving a hybrid you are carying 2 cars in one. Twice the maintenace. Twice the toc price. Hybrids are done for. Pick ev or ice. Hybrids are very expensive to purchase & maintain.
