💯💯💯 I don’t care about packaging unless it makes the product heard to dispense. ELF’s vitamin C serum has the worst packaging. Barely any product goes into the dropper. I choose the Ordinary any day over that crappy packaging!
Agreed. However, I DO wish the boxes of Ordinary products used a larger font for the product name. It would be nice if your eye was more readily drawn to that, and it was a little easier to read without burying your face in the shelf.
I love The Ordinary package. Straight, clean, no bs. Excessive packaging/labels make me think they are trying to sell the bottle but not the actual product. I like The Inkey List too.
I have used products from The Ordinary for years. Some are OK while others are essential in my daily routine. This serum was a hit as soon as I first tried it! I do not notice a pink cast but I only use half a dropper and at night. I’m very glad you gave it your seal of approval! 🎉
The Ordinary is having a 23% sale. I am an esthetics student, almost 60 years old, and had never even had a facial done by anyone but myself. I get compliments on my skin every time we do skin analysis and the woods lamp. SPF and moisturizer are the best things I use for my skin. I also use Argeriline from The Ordinary. Live their products and price point. Thank you for this recommendation ❤
I’ve been using it for couple of weeks and it’s totally worth the hype. I even started my 70yo mom on it and she said it’s the best thing I ever gave her.
I think that thIS “ PINK LOTION” ( Barrier Support Lotion ) from the Ordinary is worth every penny. I 10:44 have been using it a few times weeks now. And of late I have been getting lots of compliments on my st looking so good and glowing. So it takes a minute. But it works. And yes I use it with my other Ordinary skin care products as I have been using. And it seems to be compatible with everything that I have been using. Like you said “ No instant miracles “. But cumulative improvements. And NO IRRITATION whatsoever. Great protect. And I am 77 years old.
😀 So funny to watch you two applying this product in a totally different way. One using the "rub in on my face like I would massage marinate into a steak" method and the other one using the "gentle with fingertips like I would apply cream to my newborns bottom" technique.
It seems to me that a lot of viral derms have some kind of issue with this brand...maybe, warranted. For me, they actually started the trend of consumers knowing and understanding ingredient based skincare, which in turn prompted a lot of derms becoming influencers and having a platform on social media to discuss skin. I only started watching derms because The Ordinary made me more aware of specified ingredients. Effective, economical, and accessible is always beneficial to everyone. As for this serum, it has really helped me with the appearance of my skin while using retinols.
I really didn’t like this at first. My skin was sensitive to it at the time, but I was in the middle of a bad eczema flare up. Once my skin calmed down a little bit, I started using it again and it started improving my skin even faster and got better than before. This is now a must have in the winter for me.
I totally agree with all you said. I do love the simple, easy to use, functionality of their packaging. Find I can put this into my routine very easily and makes my skin feel calm. The pink fades really quickly!!
This serum came at just the right time for me! I love it, my skin had one of the worst breakouts ive had in over a year and this serum was the only thing i used besides (moisturizer and cleanser) i truly think it helped hasten my skins recovery
Hey Docs… since both of you rock facial hair to some degree, can you do a skin care video for men who have beard / facial hair? do’s and don’ts… popular roller microneedling with facial hair? Beard oils, shampoos? How do we care for our skin and beards simultaneously.
I love this serum!! I have sensitive skin and i accidentally over-exfoliated one day so my skin was ultra sensitive for days, thought i'd give it a try and omg my skin has NEVER recovered so fast not even two days later my skin was back to normal, truly a miracle products 10/10!! Also could ya'll do a video on e.l.f skin products?
Well, I have dry, sensitive, aging drama queen skin and I love it!!! It does calm and moisturize it. For an excellent price too! (And pink has been my favorite color since I was a little girl 🙂)
I'm on my second bottle and I love this product. The price is now $17. I would like to see a pump and not a dropper and an option to buy a bigger sized bottle. This has changed my skin and I can't go without it!!!
I switched from adapalene to tretinoin about 10 days ago and did experience a reaction. Dryness, redness, flaking... This thing actually calmed my skin very quickly. I kept using tretinoin with this on top of it and in 3-4 days my skin already got used to the tretinoin and is now completely calm! I only use it at night over tretinoin because it does have a pink hue.
😅 lucky you. I’ve been using tretinoin for almost 2 years and still experience dryness and sensitivity 🤷🏻♀️ all well. I Just take breaks from it. Of course my skin does way better in the summer humidity with tretinoin versus the colder months
I picked it up during a vacation trip when it was first launched because I forgot my prescription ceramide cream at home for my perioral dermatitis. I found it very soothing and comforting. Interestingly, my stubborn perioral dermatitis that bothered me for 4-5 years has mostly gone away after about 4 weeks of use!!! I am not sure if it’s a result of a less stressful psychological state, or if it’s all from this product. Just thought I should share my experience out there for people who are hopeless with their skin sensitivity. It’s definitely worth a try with this price point 😊
I just purchase this and it came yesterday! So far I love it! I have been hitting my tretinoin and using other exfoliants pretty hard! After only one application I’m quite impressed! Thank you guys for sharing your opinion on this lovely serum!
I'd say it absolutely has the capacity to be causing a bit of coloration on my face. I've been ramping up my adapalene usage, and sometimes when skin flakes off later in the day it'll be a bright pink! Never ever happened prior to using this product. Still like it though.
Could you do a video on skin oiling? I am a 54 yr old women and have started oiling my skin with a mixture of Jojoba/Frankincense/Black Castor oil and I have never looked better. My skin is so plump and clear, wrinkles only appear when I smile. It has changed my life. I would like to know what your take is on this. I know oil can be bad for some skin types, but going through menopause left me with dry irritated skin and trying several brands of skincare left me with breakouts and scaring. I gave up and went holistic. It’s amazing what my skin looks like.
love the fact that you rate and tell your experience with the ordinary products. i just bought this serum. I'm not sure when to use in the application order. any tips? Thanks.
I personally didn't have a good experience with this, i actually got fungal acne after using it. I'm sure just a mixture of my own natural biome and other products I was using didn't help, but definitely did not work for me. Glad others found it to be useful.
b12 (riboflavin) has a fluorescent bright yellow glow naturally. it actually naturally glows crazy under a black light. there might be another ingredient making it more green looking
I really enjoy the ordinary products and inkey list products. I wish y’all would just do a series over main brands and which products you like from each major brand that is within a normal price range. With 3 kiddos I don’t take time for myself and I don’t want to spend a ton of money. I have normal combination skin with fine lines starting because I’m getting closer to 40 everyday.
I am surprised how much i like this. I don't think the pink really stays pink very long because i use it immediately before bed and sleep with a white pillowcase and no pink stains it
I recently got in the band wagon of this product. For a The Ordinary product I feel like it’s a bit on the pricey end. Finally decided to buy it because of a really bad allergic reaction on my face. This is a holy grail, my skin improved in about two days of use along with Avène’s cicalfate lotion. the pink does go away after a few minutes. Might be one of my favorite products from TO
Pre turning 35yo, my skin was always combo- oily. After 35yo it switched to combo dry but then started just getting drier and drier.. I was diagnosed with hashimotos thyroiditis (hypo) & pernicious anaemia just over a year ago - both know for causing dry skin issues. I obviously switched my products when i switched from oily combo to dry combo but this last year I've REALLY had to focus on it to prevent my skin, face in particular from turning into snake skin shedding off. I also experienced my 1st bout of eczema 2 months ago, 1 large palm size patch on my throat and 2 small patches under my left eye and on the eyelid. Used 1% steroid cream on my neck but was told not to use it on my face. Slowvember sale had just started, i normally stock up on my fav products from the ordinary and get a years worth. Ive stopped all actives whilst having the eczema flare and have been using the barrier support serum & the b oil ever since. The combo cleared up the eczema on my face faster than the steriod cream cleared up my neck! I actually started using the combo on my neck too to help it out. Was/am using the aveeno baby dermexa emoliant cream on my face and the goodnight emolilient balm on my neck to keep it moisturised. Am now finally back to where i can START bringing back in actives again like retanol & exfoliants. (I pay to see a private dermatologist here in the UK). Feels a little disheartening to start over again but i understand why, however the ordinary and its pricing has allowed me to first try new things, change strenghts when needsd, buy totally new products if my skin changes like the eczema flare up and rebuy less potent actives when I need to, and not have to think twice or overthink due to the price. I do use oyher brands for clensing/moisturizing/sunscreen, but nearly all my actives are from the ordinary, except for my favourite glycolic acid toner.
$13?! In Canada it’s $25.80. I know our stuff is usually more expensive but that’s a lot lol. The majority of their products here are usually $10-$15. It is a lovely serum though and way cheaper than what you’d pay even for a lot of the drugstore face products. The new Oil of Olay super serum is $56 which is outrageous.
WAIT GUYS... The b12 is supposed to have a function. Dr dray says its supposed to reduce itch/irritation. Its not just in there for the color theres a function too
Hey doctorly approved, I’m running to Ulta🏃🏻♀️…so this video was just in time, I was actually eyeballing it because with the weather and my hypothyroidism my skin gets itchy and dry and when I use retinol or Bakuchiol serums at night I get red spots and itchiness. I was looking for something to incorporate into my skin care routine with retinol and Bakuchiol
This serum burned my skin. Not for me apparently. I have very sensitive skin with broken capillaries. But the pinky skin after using it was ok for me. The problem was the burning sensation. Not for everyone I guess.
Please do a video of products for pregnant/breastfeeding women. It's so hard to navigate in the market, but I trust your knowledge. I've aged 10 years since given birth 4 months ago I feel like, so please PLEASE do a video 🙏🏻
I recent,y had a really intense reaction on my face from something I don’t know what around when I first introduced this to my regiment and just reintroduced this and oh my gosh it felt so nice on my face and soothing. Highly recommend giving it a shot.
I tried it. It wasn’t great. I have dry eczema prone skin. It made my skin dry no matter what moisturizer I used with it. So I stopped using it. Then decided to try again because maybe it wasn’t the serum but something else that made my skin dry. TBH I was using a new moisturizer at the same time I started the serum. Same thing though. Just dry skin and didn’t do much for my skin barrier, redness, etc. I’m willing to give it a third try before I throw it away.
I had a completely different experience with this serum. It stung my face and made it red. It pilled no matter how or what order I used it. I got through one bottle, just barely, and couldn’t wait to be finished with it.
Do not use anything that stings your skin. You may either be allergic or have a severely compromised skin barrier. Stick to basic unscented non-comedogenic moisturizers like vaniccream, hydrating toners and essences like corsx snail mucin to repair.
The packaging is not using extensive dyes and inks in the labels and packaging, is not using excessive plastics but is using glass, that is the easiest to recycle. That is a 10 in my book.
I would give it 7.5 out of 10 BECAUSE it is Simple. I give higher scores for packaging that helps preserve potency not for gimmicky application or looks.
I was sold until you said niacinamide. It's so frustrating that skincare without high amounts of niacinamide and/or hyaluronic acid basically doesn't exist. I wish companies would offer products that don't use them or use low percentages for people who can't tolerate them.
My exact same thought! Sounds great until you see it contains niacinamide. Where are the soothing products that don't contain niacinamide for people who's skin does not find niacinamide to be soothing??
@@DavidCruickshank Purito Dermide moisturizer doesn't contain niacinamide and has ceramides. A few korean products doesn't and contain centella (I only have the centella water in mind from Skin1004) . La Roche Posay Cicaplast and Avene Cicalfate creams but they are thick.... La Roche Posay Dermallelgo moisturizer would be a good pick and I think some Avene moisturizers as well.Good luck exploring those !
I don't care for the package 📦 the most important thing to me are the ingredients and the efficacy of the product , thanks for sharing your opinion about 😊❤
Their chemists said that the colour was an accident... they were all surprised by it, but they liked it and decided to keep it. Also, It costs 26$ in Canada. 😢
Sometimes with tretinoin my skin becomes so SO sensitive where I can’t use anything besides something incredibly pure and gentle, for example lately I’ve been using pure vitamin E oil and I dilute it with an organic oil, right now I’m using avocado oil to thin it out. My favorite lotion is the la roche posay lipikar balm lotion which is great, but even the most gentle lotion is too much for my skin to handle when I have tretinoin burn. I also love the cera ve ointment on those Tretinoin burn days. But I’m really loving the thickness and gentleness of the vitamin e oil
I have been using it as the step before I apply Differin. I find that I have a lot less irritation than I have had in the past when attempting to start differin or any retinoid for that matter. It does sting when my skin is super irritated from over doing it with differin. But the shorter healing time of my barrier is so worth it!
@@Parislutèce-s6w I know. I use the sand which method on tretinoin. I still suffer from irritation and when my skin barrier is disrupted I do as listed above which helps. I have now given up on tretinoin and will just stick to RetinAl. I’m ok with that.
I just started using the Ordinary AHA 30% BHA 2% Peeling Solution twice a week. What is your input on it? I have quite a few ordinary products. Enjoy your journey in life and keep spreading your sunshine..
One of the ingredients is Xylitol. As a dog owner, this makes it a hard no for me as it is highly toxic to dogs. For this reason, I'd give the ingredient list a zero out of 10. Is there any reason for an artificial sweetener to be in a product like this from a dermatology standpoint?
I like it. I don't use it all the time, I find it a little bit stingy in comparison to other barrier support serums but it's a decent product. Like most of the ordinary products, it's decent, inexpensive and does what it should do. I think I'm the only person that would find it stingy though
I find it a little bit stingy, too, and I think that's the niacinamide in it. I can be sensitive to products with a high concentration of niacinamide, and so I was glad that at first, I didn't notice any irritation with this, but after using it every day for a few weeks, it started to sting more, so I take a few days break from it now and then, before going back to using it.
@@nyamoonshadow3259 I think it might be the niacinamide for me as well, I can't use the ordinary's niacinamide because it stings like a bitch but I don't have the same problem with other niacinamide serums or products containing it, they are fine but the ordinary stings for some reason. I am the same, I use the barrier serum every couple of days.
I had a bout of inflammed irritation on my decollete (from using a too strong retinol) I used this serum for only 3 days and the irritation vanished completely! I couldn't recommend this serum more highly. I continue to use it wherever I'm experiencing slight dryness or discomfort from retinol and it solves the issue quickly and soothingly. I wouldn't be without it now. Thanks for another great video you 2 😘
