As someone with the majority of their family living in New Orleans and who has spent 85% of their life there (I wasn’t born there; I was born in Florida, and my parents were born in Pennsylvania and Ohio, but the entire rest of my family lives there, and I’ve been there so many times I might as well have lived there), this is your Authentic nighttime New Orleans jazz experience right here. Awesome performance by the band and great job to the person who recorded it in such good quality! Keep it up! 👍😄
Thanks so much. This is the first video I ever posted on RU-vid back a long time ago, I think JazzFest 2013. We come down every year but I have yet to catch the same sort of magic.
This video is my most viewed of hundreds I have posted. I come back and watch it at least once a week to remember my weekend in NOLA during JazzFest. I saw these guys a few times that weekend - always enjoyable!
I hope you have gotten to go. It's great. I went by myself 1st, then told my family. They didn't believe me. I took them. They can't stop talking about it.
I saw the police chase them off Frenchmen St under some sort of noise ordinance. This happened last May. I really hope that they are now freely allowed to ply their trade, as they should be considered the pride of their town and nation.
Jaymz Carter, Um, so? It wasn’t curfew, clearly, or the POLICE wouldn’t be involved. I’ve never heard of such curfew laws, and it seems not that later there, because people are still out and about.
New Orleans is a wonderful place. If you are a music lover it is heaven. You should visit when this pandemic is done. I shot this on Frenchmen street about 8 years ago. A version of this particular band is playing there just about every night. Well, I don't know about right now. I was supposed to go in April and had reservations for this October. Maybe next year. Really, go. You will thank yourself.
Pretty sure these guys were there on Wednesday night, on the corner opposite Dat Dogs, playing louder & prouder than ever. Brilliant band, did an amazing version of Soul Finger
@@TripleRPhotographyLLC I was just there and the white dude has a trombone but the short dude with the long red jacket still plays his trumpet with them. IDk who else is still there, I only recognized the 2.
Wow, I'm pretty sure I was in the crowd on the corner across from them. My brother took me to Frenchman street and this was the first thing I saw on Frenchman.
Ya'll are the best ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ Please RU-vid SHOWTIME RAW. Titled FIVE on it. SHOWTIME RAW.... Ull see these guys n I.. And French QUARTER SHOWTIME RAW.. And New two thousand SHOWTIME RAW.... Please enjoy........... Keep up the great work
@Reilly Linehan *"Second Line street band" : pivotal of the transition from R&B to FUNK* = Accord to scholar Alexander Stewart, the 2 biggest influences that make James Brown goes to Funk were the coming of jazz musicians to his band and the incorporation of NOLA Drummer *Clayton Fillyau* by 1962
"Alright white dude, you can be in our band but you can't stand with us. You have to stand in front". "Like I get to solo?" "No. You just play rhythm. You just can't stand with us"
Don’t put your racism on these kids. New Orleans is a very cosmopolitan place and you will be hard pressed to find racism in this city, unless you are talking about the tourist.
i think this kid is good, but obviously he bought his way into this setting. sorry folks. not part of the original flavor...yeah he is good, but there are soo many kids playing in free bands who are soo and equally gifted and more talented.. i think he should haunt other neighborhoods.
This was really good! I really liked your video. Would like to invite you to check out our music channel and subscribe if you see something you like! We have weekly covers. Maybe there is a collaboration we could imagine?? Drop us a line here or at the discussion box. Cheers!
if you're a great performer and you get these opportunities. you have to give props and pay postage where postage is due. i'm just sayin'. take a back seat where you belong. live and learn a little.
thank god for the internet , oteherwise id probably never get to feel new orleans at all . hope i make it there for real one day, but hey, at least for now i can dig something
