I recognized Cafe Dumonde as soon as I saw the shot. My husband, son, and I stopped in New Orleans on the way home to North Carolina from a trip to Texas. It was pre Katrina, so was nice to see some things I recognized. We loved their beignets. We stayed in the Garden District, but went to the French Quarter a few times.

I used to live in Baton Rouge LA. NOLA was a favorite place to go on the weekends. It looks like it hasn't changed much. I did love the food there but Bourbon St. has its own special kind of odor, a mix of "booze and urine". Happy New Year to you Colonel and the family.

Many thanks Colonel for lettin' us cavort with the ravishing Mrs. Ritter, Bella and you good sir! Bourbon street right now is so quiet and tranquil but one month and half, more or less into the future and it will get crazy hectic! Love the ol' style buildings, is it o.k. to call it "colonial"? Thank you Colonel Sir, 👍and maybe now your beautiful wifey will appear with ya on screen?😂😉

Happy New Year!!! Great viewing! We visited New Orleans several times in the years we lived in Baton Rouge back in the 80’s. Loved taking our girls to zoo in New Orleans back then while they were still young. It was a great zoo but not sure how it is now since Katrina! Would love to visit the WWII museum! My father fought in the Army in the South Pacific for 3 years, mostly in the Philippines, I think. So will be watching for that video!

Steve, I see you made it to my State -- Louisiana! I was thinking the same as you said about the cathedral -- it was very reminiscent of Europe! Glad you guys enjoyed the trip. Yes, Mardi Gras is a crazy time -- not just in New Orleans.

A walk well worth every footstep. I agree the architecture is so beautiful with all the iron railings and the balcony’s. I guess that is what they call the French Caribbean influence. I especially love the bright colors of the buildings. Theyre so cheerful and can definitely make your day. I also like their courtyard gardens where the homes are built around the courtyards. I’ve love the French quarter and the garden district. Thanks for sharing. I love New Orleans.

Hi Steve, I Love New Orleans and Cafe du Monde is my favorite place there. I can eat beignets morning, noon, and night! Also, love the food there. K Paul’s is my favorite place to eat dinner there. When I worked for the airlines, I probably went to New Orleans eight or more times. Love the St. Charles trolley to the Garden District too. My husband and I would go there for Jazz Fest. It’s a fun town with fantastic food. Thanks for the memories. Hope you go back and have a wonderful trip. Kindness, Teresa

Just saw this - oh NOLA! The memories! I was born and raised in Hammond - a little NE of there. I have family there and we go back frequently. I miss the food terribly. I can cook most of the dishes, but I really miss the boiled crawfish and going to Cafe DuMonde for our beignets. Have walked on the MS Riverwalk so many times. No place like it, but I don't desire to live there anymore - had more than enough of our share of hurricanes.

The architecture of the French Quarter of New Orleans is beautiful, but the last time I went there, it was so raunchy, I was embarrassed to have brought my kids. We left pretty quickly. We did enjoy some of the plantations nearby, though.
