This city has SO much to offer. But experts say it will be under water in the future. And that's not good.

I lived in New Orleans/south LA for most of my life and even tho it has its pros i would certainly never recommend living there. Yes, the sights and attractions are overall great, I feel the city just ignores its problems. A lot of residential areas are run down and only get attention when there is opportunity for tourist attractions. The place I lived in was mostly ignored by the parish until they found that tourists go to the area to shop and for some parades. Even though the area is getting renovated which I am thankful for because I have friends who still live there, it’s upsetting that the neighborhoods problems don’t get heard until they find something they can profit off of. Even though the cons outweigh the pros when living there long term, I still miss it and tbh I wouldn’t be the person I am today without living there.

I absolutely agree, new orleans is great and all but not only is it very expensive to live in, and lots of heavy traffic, but aggressive people. Lots of crime. New orleans may look great to tourists but for the people who go or live there regularly, we know the dangers and know how scary it is.

We don’t have any swamps in New Orleans. And no one has houses on piers in the water like that in New Orleans. There are areas not too far where you’ll see that. But other than the Bourbon St shot, the lower 9 shot, the st charles shot, and the potholes, what was shown is not New Orleans. We need better policing. The city needs to stop over taxing property owners. It drives rents up and makes it harder for investors to make places like the 9th ward better. That’s to say nothing of how our city government mismanaged Fema money. Insurers won’t insure down here unless you’re willing to pay huge amounts (which again raises rent). It is a mess… for sure. But it is home.
