I lived in the hood before…and would throw the trash away…but in the same day somebody is just going to throw more trash on your lawn….it’s a lot of foot traffic so the walkers just throw the trash on the ground and the wind blows it into your yard…I stopped picking it up everyday because it’ll come back within the hour…..I end up just picking it up some days or when I cut the grass. It’s annoying and there’s nothing you can do to prevent it….you can be the perfect citizen, but you’ll have neighbors that will mess shit up.
EXACTLY...!! And I’m from this area in the video.... Its not the neighborhood itself that makes bad people, its the bad people that turn a neighborhood bad and run it down.... That said, some of this is still damage from hurricane Katrina 15 years ago... After the hurricane, they built some brand new beautiful homes here and gave them to some former residents. Well, you know what happened right? In 5 years time, most of those beautiful homes, were run down shit holes you can’t give away... And they got those homes for free! And still!! Smh. I was born and raised in this area, and left this area. Other parts of New Orleans are beautiful, and the people that live in those other areas, take care of their neighborhoods.
Thank you for showing these forgotten places, no one ever sees this when they visit New Orleans! 😢. And smart move @ 10:00, good lawd that woulda swallowed your car whole! 😱🕳️🚗
After Katrina the city of New Orleans just was never the same. That's when all the focus was on tourism. Every bet of money goes into catering tourists.. Roads are fixed up only for the rich and popular neighborhoods. Locals are slowly being pushed out to make way for more air BNB"s. They destroyed the Treme area. With outside money buying up property for short term rentals. Kicking out families that lived in neighborhoods for years. It's not the same. So locals have no choice but to take what they can get. The struggle is real. The rent is high . The city's resources aren't as good either. Much worse sense covid. Local businesses and family owned businesses end up being pushed out. Losing that local community feel. What we have we try keep. Hanging on to traditions and our spirit. Seeing this breaks my heart and I start to think of how the city once was. Katrina flipped the script for sure.
I get it love. I'm from here too. To read these comments hurts me... They don't know what it really is here.. they only seeing what this clown is showing... Show the real city... Show them same hoods with the good streets.. stop making the city look like it ain't shit
@@thomasjones516 Just came from nola recently. Never visited before. The city looked like crap, even saw dead people, was a total cesspool full of gutter punk trash trying to pass themselves off as ‘artists’. Saw lots of racism, many homeless, lack of police and terrible streets. The whole city was hood. Even the so called good parts like lake view were crap. Met several airbnb owners too. Many from california, lots of them were trash and it was clear that they were there to exploit the city. Many were racist and pulled the classic, black men are invisible act. Also met arrogant artists, like the one who puts the crappy fish around. Again, quite racist, arrogant transplant from california. Was not impressed. There was an air of desperation in everyone. Also the denial of how horrible it is there was off the chart. Saw the levees, the water was very high. It made me feel uncomfortable. The place is a disaster waiting to happen and looks to be doomed. Sorry, I don’t have any attachment to the place. I call it like I saw it. I went everywhere and I didn’t see much difference. It was a 3rd world country, it was depressing, dark, hopeless and full of hate. Even the musicians seemed desperate. The streets damaged my car. It was horrible and so sad that this situation is actually a part of the usa. Not sure how long the city has left but the next time it goes under I feel that it will be the last time. Its doomed, no matter if the people there want to accept it or not.
My city my area its so sad that after all these years the streets are still fkd up...I'm 38 now as far as I can remember they still the same way..this just breaks my heart..smh..
I believe New Orleans and Louisiana are so corrupt the federal government doesn't even want to bother sending any aid. The money just evaporates. No money's going into the roads. That's obvious. People should demand better.
Keep voting democratic and their false promises and lies......... and keep getting the same results. Its not complicated. but like I said in another comment..... at least mattresses are cheap there.
It was that way when I was a kid in the 60's. Nothing has really changed. I was there when Betsy and Camille hit, they had plenty of warning that if we had another big hurricane it would be a disaster, they did nothing.
Throughout the whole state you have that same problem of potholes in the road or in parking lots. They say it’s due to the clay soil drying and cracking beneath the concrete and asphalt that weakens whatever is on top.
I had a Pontiac Grand Prix once, they sit low….cracked my front bumper bcuz I hit a pothole so hard…it was dark and I couldn’t see it coming…hit that bih going 30 mph smh
It is so sad to see neighborhood after neighborhood in New Orleans so decrepit overrun with trash, weeds, abandoned cars, dilapidated homes and businesses, pot holed flooded streets, even neglected infrastructure like bridges and overpasses. Where is the tourist and tax money going if not to repair streets, pick up trash, and mow and maintain grass and weeds on public streets an property? Where did all the government money from Katrina go? Is anyone being held accountable for this urban squalor? Are city officials and employees just collecting a paycheck and returning no work product? What the hell is happening to the inner city of NOLA? It's like the forgotten city.. Then they wonder why crime has escalated to historical records. I'm sadden and angry by this neglect.
The streets are in disrepair and the homes are nothing but shacks. Of course these hoods are forgotten. I feel bad for people who have to live in them!
True. I also noticed plenty of high end vehicles parked in front of those shacks on those raggedy streets. They may have been forgotten but the people living there haven't forgotten where the car dealerships are. So how many of them really have to live there? Or is it better to live in a shack while driving a Lexus? Some people are victims of circumstances while others create their circumstances.
Fam that's the 8th Ward.. I'm from there.. my people lived in those exact apartments... That's not a busy part of our city... That's almonaster st. U can't hear when a car passes through. But u can hear when a semi pass... I spent many nights hanging right there under that over pass.... The sad part is, the first 6 minutes of this video is the same area from different angles... He took the worse roads and drove them from both ways..our streets are bad but not how he portrayed them.. this is a part of the city that's still trying to recover from the storm. I can show u real footage of this area and the work that's being done right now... All this footage is old... The city is fixing all the streets around there... Facts
This is the outer Upper Ninth Ward. Clearly people are letting it go; it seems the only houses that are kept up are owned by occupants who are working their tails off
Imagine if all that money wasted blowing up and rebuilding other countries was actually spent building up America instead... Most cities and small towns across the USA are depressing falling apart shit holes!!!
I always think about that when watching these urban decay videos. People in America shouldn't have to live like this eve if you are poor. But don't forget how many new apartment complexes have been built then the residents trash them. IF you did a lot for these people, would they appreciate it?
The 9th ward is by far the most forgotten area of the city and it’s not even close, it feels so disconnected from everything else because of how neglected it is
Why bother when the "residents" throw their trash on the street? That one word is in quotes because we all know not a single one of these houses are owned, they are all section 8 rental trashcans.
Shit sad I'm from that 9 ctc ya heard me I graduated HS in 2005 a few months b4 the storm and let me tell ya our shit was not like this b4 the storm believe that. I was just there this place is a shell of one of the greatest city. Homeless all on canal st. And shit. Keep in mind the N.O. culture and people will never die but what happened to the city was a death blow that will be felt til whenever. its construction all over but it's been 16 years the potholes could have got touched by now that's government shit
This is hollygrove Carrollton area and you are right. The streets are horrible. I’ve taken photos and sent them to all of the council members and Mayors office. NOTHING.. They don’t care period. Sad
So many movies was made in Louisiana like Candyman 2, The Crow 2, Black and Blue, Unhinged, Hatchet, some parts of Queen & Slim, The Waterboy, and many many more 😁
@@BatmanPops Southern Comfort was actually based on a true story. Many of the movie scenes were factual but were taken out of context and made somewhat fictional. In real life it was a military experiment. They wanted to see how sociopaths and psychopaths and dissociates would function together as a unit. It was "an experiment that went terribly wrong in the end" is how it was stated. Five years after the incident the squad leader's father demanded to know what happened to his son but the military would not tell him since the experiment was classified. So he spoke to investigating reporters who then investigated and it made the news. When it made the news the military then opened up with the father and the father learned what happened. His son who was a sociopath/psychopath basically screwed up and got himself and others killed. The father then asked the military to debrief the incident. The incident was already debriefed meaning the records are filed away and forgotten. I was a Marine when the incident happened. I know all about it. I in fact am a dissociate. I have amnesia and I forget things too. Chow
Of all the towns Charlie Boo has presented that I've watched, I think these were the worst roads. Then there's always a few that dump old mattresses out along the street. How do the graffiti artists get up to high to paint their murals?
i think what you talk about is arround 9:42 theyre called "roll-ups" with regular paint, done with a roller and mostly with a telescopic pole. u easily can reach higher spots with it.
The craziest thing about the potholes is majority of the people living in these areas are senior citizens in the late 70s-80s they are confined to their homes because of this. There’s a pothole so big on one street people just drive through the corner house yard. That’s the district for yo azz.
Home sweet home, born and raised.... but, moved away... What you’re showing isn’t that bad an area. New Orleans is a very old city, much of it just looks this way. Theres also still Katrina damage being seen in the neighborhood.
y you blockin us? baller blockin us? u #$%#% keep tryin' aint no stoppin' us, Loved that VHS tape and the Hot Boys and E40 man good memories, Gar! wheres my muthaF%#$%n check
Look I'm from Dem streets and I take my hat off to you. Them boys don't play I don't know how much people pay att..but them boys on both sides of the street was peeping really hard after you second pass by at 4:19 And lets not get it twisted they watched you the first time as well them boys on the right watched you from the 2:58 start all the way through plus them boys on the left also watched.. Them boys 1000% Bout that shit and ready to put in work.. You a brave man. TY for this content people need to see this side so they know where not to go.
@@DIVISIONINCISION what i meant about the government messed up new Orleans. Is when they blowed down the levee walls for to get rid of us black people out of new Orleans and keep the white people in.
I would say most of New Orleans looks rundown like this. Even in downtown you find broken and abandoned buildings. I find on average the natives here don’t give a shit about their city and those that did moved away after Katrina. People here need a change of heart for community to improve.
A lot of these houses were/are owned by earlier generations and are not being cared for anymore. Here you need homeowners insurance so you can fix the house when storms come. The newer generation just doesn’t care. The city never fixes the streets in the back neighborhoods. Sad.
Was down there a few years back with my buddy to see his sister. They had no running water, no electricity, no drywall, just a gas lamp and a camping stove. I guess they got the house for only a few bucks because it had massive damage from Katrina. It was weird and sad but they were good people. Not so sure about some of their neighbors.
@@DIVISIONINCISION The desire to live I suppose. I guess you do what you have to do to survive, and they have. Last I heard the kids have moved out trying to make a better life.
What is the state Government & local authority doing about it. Where are the elected representatives. I cant believe this place is in the good old US of A !
The thing about New Orleans it’s hard to tell when you in the hood or not 😂 you’ll think your in the hood but then see a bunch of blond girls waking around looking like they to yoga
A good portion was cleaned during the aftermath of Katrina though (not enough considering the amount of money donated and granted). So, it took a hurricane (weather wise) to clean up a bit. Many people were saying Katrina was a blessing and a nightmare at the same time.
People probably don’t pay the taxes on properties and that usually goes to fix the roads. Nasty, disgusting and a total disgrace! Don’t people have pride anymore? Total swamp!
What gives you the right to judge these people places at least they're living please let them live and leave alone before God put you in a place you would not want to be
Cops are best to be avoided if impossible both compliance and vigilant protection of your rights are necessary. "What crime have I committed? I don't have to ID unless you have reasonable articulable suspicion that I've committed a crime, was committing a crime, or was about to commit a crime." Nine times out of ten he'll say something lame or that he doesn't have to tell ya, but he'll conjure up RAS by copsplaining later. "You realise it's safer for BOTH of us if I don't get out of my car. There's plenty of room to conduct your business on the passenger side." But you'll have to get out anyway if he orders you to. "I don't consent to searches." Usually you'll have to under duress let him search your vehicle or frisk you anyway. "I don't answer questions." "I want a lawyer."
@@edwardmiessner6502 Like I told people when I worked in the prison system, if you aren't doing anything illegal, you shouldn't be worried about being stopped by a cop. Unfortunately, people like you are usually caught up by warrants or doing something illegal and that's why you worry so much.
Im from Detroit went to Louisiana I felt like I was in the slave era the houses look like slave quarters wtf 😒 sad I'm glad I wasn't raised there blacks got it hard I saw that soon as we got there
2:42 This block is quite nice. The houses look taken care of for the most part and lots are newly painted in vibrant colours. I bet this part of the neighbourhood has a long history behind it (judging by the way the houses/infrastructure look).
The Homestead Exemption in Orleans parish covers the first $75,000 of a home's value. Given the condition of these homes, I would venture to guess that most of these residents are not generating a dime of property tax revenue.
The way this country is going the WHOLE country is gonna look like this in the future. You know what I'm talking about!!! That's OK. I'm old now so I'll only see it from the other side.
"And if your from out of town, welcome to the third world". Watch out for pick pockets and loose women. NOLA has it's problems but that's just to weed out the weak. I made 20 years without being robbed, carjacked or killed. I'm one of the lucky ones.
I was there in the mi 80s to the late 80s ... exchange my 1972 VW Beetle imitation copy Ford 1940 hood KIT for a original one and the guy just loved it when i showed up at there garage and i loved to drive and do business in city hood supossetly bad but never add problem there...
