In this episode of our New Orleans travel vlog we visit Mosca’s Restaurant for our restaurant review videos to experience the good stuff in here with their fantastic New Orleans Italian food. This New Orleans Creole Italian restaurant is very popular for their delicious Italian food and New Orleans Creole food. Mosca’s is located on the Westbank of the Mississippi River in the greater New Orleans suburb of Westwego, LA at 4137 US-90 West which is about 25 minutes and 17 miles away from the New Orleans French Quarter. Mosca’s was established in 1946 by Provino Mosca who immigrated to America in 1913 from San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy. Provino first lived in Chicago Heights, Illinois where he got married and had a family before moving to Louisiana in 1946 where he opened this restaurant which was originally called Willswood before becoming known simply as Mosca’s Restaurant. In 1999 Mosca’s won a James Beard Award in America’s Regional Classics category. This is a really great spot with a lot of good times in here! We continue our best food quest as first we feast with me through the New Orleans restaurants for the best New Orleans food at the best New Orleans restaurants. In our restaurant review videos we show you the best food New Orleans has inside New Orleans best restaurants. New Orleans has a lot of great food and Mosca’s has definitely been among New Orleans favorite Italian-American restaurant options that we will show you in this visit with our restaurant review videos.

We tend to have some good times! This time we actually had some kooky old drunk guy come yelling at us wanting to fight us because we were being "too loud" even though the entire restaurant was at a roar level of loudness in general.

Growing up where we did, I can remember numerous restaurants that were cash only. So, for me, this is somewhat nostalgic. And don't let that stop you because you'll miss out on the outstanding food. That chicken is something special...some of the best in the Greater New Orleans area. And, of course, the Oysters too! This is one of those unique places that I don't get to often enough, but it's always special when we do. Great unspoken history as well. I can't wait for my next visit! GREAT video for a great restaurant. - The Commodore

In Italy , they don't serve spaghetti and meatballs. It's 2 separate orders I heard. Never been there although when I was in the Air Force I requested to be assigned there
@NOLAGent1
@NOLAGent1 2 года назад
That is true they don't do the two combined. Some of them also get very furious when Americans call our Italian food "Italian food" as their position is that only food in Italy can be called "Italian Food" even when actual Italians from Italy are making the American Italian Food... So I guess they just have to be unhappy because we ain't gonna stop calling it Italian food just like in Italy they call Chinese food "Chinese food" and Spanish food "Spanish food" so they sorta forget that 😀

They have meatballs and spaghetti in Italy, but the meatballs in the spaghetti are tiny. An Italian on RU-vid makes it on his channel called Vincenzo’s plate. Once Italians got to the USA where meat was plentiful, their meatballs got bigger. Much bigger. Type “Vincenzo’s plate spaghetti meatballs” in the RU-vid search and see for yourself.

The prices of the wines 🍷 they should throw in the food for free. Have you ever eaten an entire meal based on the appetizers?

@@NOLAGent1 Yes I know. Many locals like myself know the story. The place is notoriously known to have been Carlos Marcello’s and the Matranga family a.k.a the New Orleans family meeting place with Marcello owning the property itself then.

Used to be a LOT of cash only joints in NOLA. Not so many anymore BUT plenty do an upcharge credit card "fee" and a lower cash price.

I may be misremembering, but I thought they have an ATM handy in the restaurant to handle the cash-only request. Same with the famed Joe T. Garcia's Mexican restaurant in Fort Worth, Texas. Cash only probably helps pay the help a little better in the long run, ha.

They still have an ATM with a fee of course. Lots of places have a credit card fee that seems to be getting pretty substantial these days too. The credit card companies must be making a fortune!
