This week I'm working on more Patterned Plywood. These patterns are super easy to make and the results are really cool. All of them are based on a 45 degree miter joint that then gets cut into small tiles and reassembled. I came up with four patterns this week: the Alpine, Descending Square, Square Weave, and Double Weave.

With that last pattern, it'd be cool to stain them 3 to 4 different colors, to further the 3D effect.

Hey Micheal, Great video, I loved seeing all the patterns you came up with. One tip that always works for me when glueing up mitres is to use packing tape along the length of the mitre. You can also overlay the mitres slightly, then when you fold up the mitres it will stretch the tape which really makes the joint tight.

@@mercedesmarton3768 haha. It was a joke and the count of countries that uses imperial are 50 states of America and than 3 around the world so approximately 53 states uses imperial. But as I said... Is there other than metric. Lol have a great day 💕

I started this project tonight! After some exhausting and disappointing days working on 38 kitchen doors I really needed something fun and creative and I remembered your video. I got my plywood cut and I will start the first glue up tomorrow. I’m so grateful for your amazing video that has been so easy to follow along. Fingers crossed mine turns out half as good as yours!!

I love your patterned plywood videos. I made some small panels using your hexagon method and despite my angles not being spot on they turned out pretty cool. Having gained some confidence I made a charcuterie board using the "alpine" method. I need more practice to hone in my precision so my individual pieces fit tighter together but I plan to make more pattened plywood, thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks for giving some dimensions! Also, thanks much for showing that sometimes metric is the way to go to get the most precise cuts. I teach a tips and tricks class at a 50+ woodshop as a volunteer and I can't tell you how many times I've told folks to switch to metric when they're talking about measuring 32nds or 64ths when metric is dead on. Also, metric is easier on the math by far. I even donated a metric tape to the shop (kept one for myself and a third for my home shop).

it should be possible to make a celtic knot with plywood pattern, in a similar way than the last one. I can't prevent to mention that the metric system is in every form more precise than the imperial system. If you only use it, you will find it come in handy when working on very precise pieces.

The industrialist inside of me says to use a motorized roller to glue your pieces; just have it at low rpm, maybe foot pedal operated, so you just slide each row against it, then each column to get the whole set done as a batch operation.

Thank you. Since finding your RU-vid channel and watching what you do with plywood, I have started using up all my scrap pieces of plywood this way. I don’t make big stuff, just coasters, trays and the like. My question is this: what do you do with the inevitable small holes and voids in the plywood? I’ve tried wood filler, but don’t like the look. Is it something I need to just accept and embrace?

Michael, I love these patterned plywood projects! A quick question if I may: After I glue up the panels, can I resaw them thinner on the bandsaw, like to 0.2"? Provided the glue up was successful, would they hold together well? Plan on using it for a tray bottom, nothing heavy. Thank you sir! Looking forward to further builds.
