Squeaky can be easily fixed with TWSBI silicon. Just a drop. Enjoy. (I have several). Not flush. It's the O-ring. The upside of the multiple turns to screw on cap is that the cap seals very well. Happy Birthday.
My Opus 88 Omar, Fantasia, and Halo are all 3 full turns exactly. I always assumed, or maybe I heard somewhere, that it is for extra security with eyedroppers. It hasn't ever bothered me as I am not usually in a rush when I'm using them. That pen is so tempting with those colours! I just fell back in love with my Omar though.
A beautiful Opus 88! Those colours are my jam! I have 2 other Opus pens that I find are great for long writing sessions (a #6 and a #5). They are very comfortable and no hand cramping. There are a lot of turns for the cap but I don’t use this one for note taking or quick notes. I bought other Opus nib units to inter-change. I think I’ll put this on my list for my next Opus!
Congrats Seemownay, it’s a beautiful pen! The pictures on Stilostile also show the nib not being screwed in all the way down. It seems to just be that way. I‘m eying it, but I really shouldn’t, haha!
I love my Opus 88s, and now that you have shown me this one, I ordered 2 more! This pen has all of my favorite colors in it, so it is perfect for me, even though I am not supposed to be buying more pens that aren't already on my Wish List! As soon as I saw the Opus 88 Demonstrator, I figured you were planning on the Pilot Parallel hack. As Azizah explains in her Gourmet Pens video, there is a small O-ring at the base of the Opus 88 nib unit that can pop off. You need to make sure that O-ring stays with the Opus 88 nib unit. There's also an O-ring near the base of the Pilot Parallel nib unit. You need to keep each O-ring with its respective nib and not end up losing one or accidentally ending up with both of them in the pen. Also, the finial on the Opus 88 does screw off as you speculated -- you can remove the clip if you prefer.
I absolutely love these colors! It’s so cute and versatile. I’m impressed that your #6 nib looks to be a great writer in both directions. The singing of that nib though! So wild! 🤘🏼😸🧡🖋
Very nice. Now you have to get more 88 Demostrators. You can get the Sapphire next, and if they make an Emerald you can get that for another Parallel nib. I love it when a nib sings or aqueaks.
