The govee backlight 3 lite is in my shopping cart. Prefer hdmi, but too expensive. I’m not sure but presume it has the best music settings. (Because nobody covers it)
The investment price is very high in my region. A sync box 399.99, light strip for 65" tv 319.99, bridge 69.99. Then you need to power all three devices and set them up. For the effort and funds required I will wait for a different hdmi 2.1 sync box product. Great review though!
SYNC BOX! So if I got the syncbox with the lightstrip for my tv, would I "HAVE" to get the bridge? Or is that only if I want to sync up other Philips Hue lighting?
I'm guessing this is the same OEM / SoC as the FancyBox 3 and the Govee SyncBox 2, given they all have similar release periods, feature sets, and form factor.
Hello, First of all, thank you for all your reviews. They are incredibly helpful not only to me but also to many others. Could you please compare the 3 HDMI 2.1 Fancy Sync Box with the Philips Sync Box and provide your honest opinion on which one is the better choice? I noticed that if you choose the Philips Sync Box, Hub, Play Gradient Light Tube (Large), and Play Gradient Light Strip for a 75-inch TV, the total cost is almost $1000 and Fancy sync box for 75 inch TV with RGBW version cost 270 Euro. Is there any crucial feature that deserves to pay this much money for a Philips setup instead of choosing a fancy sync box?
@@GeekStreet Yes, it would be nice because We all know that Philips has a huge advantage. Because They have a lot of Light bulbs and everything to add later In your setup, But if we put aside this huge advantage and only compare this two product It will be nice to know which one is logical choice.
I have a question. I returned the previous version of the hue sync box because it did not work. All of my HDMI equipment is plugged into a splitter (which the hue box would replace) and then into a Samsung Q990C soundbar and out to an LGC1 OLED TV. I don’t use EARC on the TV as both the sound and picture quality is better without. Will this new 8K hue sync box send both a sound and a picture to the TV when connected via a soundbar? Great video by the way 👍
Yes the sync box will send picture and sound to the TV. If you do get it let me know how it goes, as if you had an if with the first one then this should be similar, but personally I don't see why you'd have an issue.
Great video! About connections. I have Apple TV 4k, PS5 and Xbox series X and and I will get Sonos Arc soon as well. How to connect? Apple TV/PS5/Xbox --> Hue sync box --> TV´s hdmi port. Sonos soundbar to TV´s eARC port? Is this the best setup and it should work?
2 questions pls 1) which is better lighting overall between this and fancyled? 2) if your tv is larger than 65 inches then fancy led is only solution as Philips doesn’t do light strips for tv 75 inches and bigger? Cheers !
1) It has a larger ecosystem and when your using multiple lights it seem to work better. The selection of colour scenes look stunning providing great lighting in a room giving a great vibe. And I can pair with other devices like a remote. 2) there is a 75inch version! Main negative for Philips is the Price
We're still waiting for Govee to release a hdmi 2.1 sync box, Fancy leds is the best budget option but if money was no issue and you wanted full room immersion go for Philips Hue my favourite at this moment in time.
SYNC BOX Is the delay with the lights something to be concerned about? The delay with Toy Story at the end was very noticeable for me but the rest of the video I did not notice the delay.
Hi, nice video. Would you say this Philips’ solution is better or not compared to the 2.1 Fancy Sync Box from Fancyleds (especially the one with 3 HDMI)?
With Philips there are more options for expanding to get a full room immersive experience. Whereas the fancyleds sync is limited but the best budget option at this moment in time.
question is the led strip and the sync box better than the fancyleds one? I don't care about compability with other hue products, just want to know if this has better response and looks better overall in terms of light.
Thumbs up for the video! Just never liked that the hue tv strip didn't wrap around the whole tv and you need to get the tube separately to complete the immersion.
They need to make the kit for 43" to 50" TVs. As I've been saying with years they should include an os like android TV or fire TV in these boxes with at least one usb input for external drive for videos. It would make a good all in one unit.
thanks for sharing. Planning to play a Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip, wondering can I put it behind my couch? I'm using a projector and can't attach it behind my screen?
@@GeekStreet how about the issue with VRR on previous gen Sync Box and 2.1 splitter? Was it fixed? I also saw that Dolby Vision had a warning message on your Series X on previous gen + splitter. How about now on that config?
@blackskull very similar if you're on a budget and didn't want to expand out getting more light then go for the fancyleds, but if money was no issue go for Philips Hue the full room immersion is absolutely amazing
@@GeekStreet thank you boss! I actually just got the Philips strip, I found out I can use it natively on my TV without a sync box and it’ll even sync to my smart tvs apps! It’s with the Philips hue sync app which is on newer Samsung tvs. Pretty awesome as it works with HDMI 2.1 and everything
After paying over $300 for this new 8K sync box. I’m frustrated. I have 10 lights connected to It, but they get real bright at times, very annoying. My previous hue sync box did not do that. I wonder what could be causing the lights to get bright and then Dim and then Bright again when they’re not supposed to?
are there still HDCP limitations? So can you use netflix and so on via apple tv, ps5, xbox and so on? Or do they have those copiright things going on where the box can't read the material
Looking in the app store your right it's not in there! I downloaded the app last year I wonder if that's because the functionality has been moved to the Hue app I'll have to look around it at some point
which tv backlights out there do literally have zero delay? if someone knows i would appreciate it allot. since he said in the video this has a slight delay because it is wireless
Thumbs up for covering music! But it didn’t choose the colors from the screen? Did you at least choose the colors it used? Disappointing there were not any patterns and settings to choose from.
Hello, great video, thanks for the details! The lamp from the left side is a Philips signe? Does it work in a gradient way with the syncbox or it shows just one color at the time?
@dynamikr tough one as we are still waiting for Govee to release a hdmi 2.1 syncbox. Personally govee have better developed their eco system of lights better than Philips Hue but the full room immersion and quality of lighting given off sways me more towards Philips Hue at this moment in time.
Another piece of impressive hardware. Philips is competing with the best of them with this new sync box. Your room is a fascinating light show with this setup. It's an expensive setup but with impressive results. Sync box 👍👍
Excellent video and perfect timing! I bought my Hue 8k Sync Box last week and hooked it up today on my LG C3 together with a 65´´ Gradient Play lightstrip and under the tv a Gradient Ambiance lightstrip. And I paired it with the new Google TV streamer and my Xbox series X and the Samsung Q990b soundbar. Let the good times begin!
Ahh beautifull, very similar to mine. I am also on a C3 65", Q990B which is a freakin beast of a sounbar. Im on ps5 tho, also planning to get the hue setup soon. Enjoy!
@@AlmostFamoush Thank you brother. The 8k sync box is definitely the perfect addition to your set up. Mine works flawlessly. I do recommend taking the Gradient Ambiance Lightstrip to put under your tv instead of the Light Tube. And the Q990B sure is a monster haha! Good luck with acquiring your Hue toys!
Personally for me less is more, syncing all the lights in my living room with the tv gradient light strip is distracting when watching movies, after a week the novelty worned off and I’m only using the TV gradient light strip and it’s so much better, less distracting
Yea what a great product. I see these in almost every commercial movie theater I go. It's not distracting at all. Your TV looks like a strip club, it's not a bad thing if you like that kind of stuff.
Shits like 400 dollars just for the BOX. Then you need whatever dongles and lightstrips. Costs almost like a whole TV. Then if you buy said box, you kinda have to invest into the hue eco system. Now you truly are fucked. Every single piece of equipment costs an arm and or a leg.
@@GeekStreet Exactly. I've had my 4k TV for six years now and there was nothing ever connected to it besides the portable SSD drive. Shame, cause I always liked the Ambilight idea.
No they're not. I have had LG TVs and Philips TVs. The built in apps in any smart TV I've used have been laggy. I play videos via external SSD too. I'm using a Homatics box R 4k plus for all streaming and video playback. These products would be ok for people like me if my TV didn't already have ambilight on it already.
That's the problem with this. I debated over getting the govee HDMI and Phillips but decided on the camera from govee since it doesn't require an HDMI. Yes it's not perfectly in sync and the set up is kiiiiinda annoying, but once you get over that it's pretty awesome since no matter what is on your TV you'll get that ambient light. My whole living room is decked out with these lights and it's amazing. The customization is fantastic. Go with the camera if you use the built in TV apps like I do. Govee camera ver 3 is out (I have ver 2)
lol, what does 8k have to do with anything with lights? you do no there is close to ZERO 8k content and Sony hasn't introduced a new 8k tv or projector in years. 8K is going NO WHERE
