Another thing I love about IMSA - they know what to do when they see fire. I've watched every race for 3 seasons, and they have their share of fires, no doubt. But I have yet to see anyone get hurt, other than possible minor burns that the pit crewmembers are too hardass to complain about. (I'd be calling 9-1-1 if it were me. Then the laundry service.)

Well, racing organizer should take note to pit stop orders. Change tire first, meanwhile you can swap drivers (& wipe the windscreen on GT racing), after all finished, last thing is refueling, & one crew standby close holding fire extingusher.
Car and people catch in fire and they just continue the race but in football players fall theatrically when an opponent touches them or even just looks at their direction.
Can you imagine the time when Pit crews rocked up in short shorts and baseball caps, no protection or the very first cars used as race cars had the oil drum right behind the driver and they would just dump oil in, and the drivers would be drinking and insanely enough, some nearby would be smoking. All you have to see is Jos Verstappen's pit lane fire to know that even then, safety had come a long way which helped save his entire pit crew from major injury.
People in general should learn from pit stop crews. When an accident happen they act and act fast instead of running circles and yelling in panic. They act first even if it is someone's mistake and don't spend time arguing or blaming each other. That is chivalry. That is heroism. That is a proper way to be a human.
Could be a lot of stuff, sparks from the tyre change, fuel leaking onto hot parts of the car (brakes, exhaust, manifold etc.) or other external sources.
There're two sorts of pitstop guys.. One is getting the hell outta here like you smash firecrackers in front of chicken and the other ones act like nothing happens and don't give a shit.
