British military used to issue a poncho that you used as your shelter (basher/Bivvy) you don't need to put grommet in the thing, you just need to knot the hood and tie your cord or bungee around the knot. The old German one's were made of rubber and totally water proof.

I concure, tie the hood up with the draw string, then attached to the sky hook.

Enjoyed Kenny. I’m a big fan of the wrangler Riggs ranger pants too. I’ve got a really well worn pair of green ones. I wore them on a grouse hunt yesterday. Shelter would be soggy in the rain but not bad on a dry night.

Geometry. Shorter pole and it could be a bit more useful as a sleeping shelter.

Yeah, it was a great invention. I have that Poncho and I think it's works quite well. I'm actually going to take it for a spin again any day now.

on nights I'm cold and restless and can't sleep I get out the e-tool and start a hole until I wish I were laying down to sleep, just gotta go easy so you don't break a sweat 😬

I have the UCO mini candle lantern which can be carefully put between my legs, inside of poncho when seated as a heater. Also have the full size UCO, but use it at home. Peace

Hey Kenny, I am not trying to be a Monday morning quarterback, but I am thinking that if the shelter could be set up just high enough to set up comfortably that it would give a little more room for laying down. Also it could keep a little more heat it better. Thanks for the video.

Pretty inexpensive poncho. But look at Wilderness Innovation poncho. They are the rolls Royce of the poncho and it’s many attachments. But it is not “ budget” “ common man”, etc. I guess a Bushcrafters with a million subscribers will have to showcase it so everyone will jump on it. 😂

Seems like a good emergency shelter. That Kuksa should be bullet proof when you get it finished. What was the name of insulated long coat like poncho you were wearing at the fall meetup? Looked like it may have been what you were wearing in this video too. I can't remember to save my life.

Hey man🙂 how have you been doing? Great video. I love overnights. I think maybe the cold came from that sleeping pad. They are not rated very high. I forget what the r value is but I remember looking through them shopping

Old trick: If the FRH is not working good add a little salt. Over filling it with water wont make it not work it will make it steam more and can burn you. Ask me how i know? LOL
