@Julius Sama with the house and energy prices + inflation & coming recession in the UK it could be cheaper just to get a Dakar and live a simpler life ( if you are in the UK) 😅
Even a better intro that Top Gear itself. Scenes, background music and the slow mo pics. You can notice the effort and love for cars as well as the intention of creating something unique for the audience.
I'm glad to see all terrain sports cars finally arriving. There was that Aixam Megatrack in the 1990s... and the AMC Eagle SX4 kinda existed. Now there seems a handful of them so maybe we'll start seeing more affordable cars go this way too (raised 4wd Mustang that isn't also a SUV, for example)
In an era moving away from combustion engines, it's great to see Porsche and Lamborghini reluctant to let them go, and not just by releasing another regular model, but with left-field variants like the 911 Dakar and Huracán Sterrato. Keep the fires burning 🔥
Companies aren’t planning (but for a few) to move away from gas completely until they are forced to from what I can tell. Don’t worry bud, ur gas engines will be around for many a day.
Amazed by this variation of the 911. Loved the review gave a very clear and concise description of the benefits of this car as an alternative to other off road vehicles- with the height of the suspension etc and something different that you do not see other manufacturers doing in their range of vehicles… looking forward to further innovation from the guys at Porsche….
Wow this video presentation is beyond sick. Roy your narrative, the videography and your entire production have done an amazing job. I have watched other 911 Dakar reviews and yours is simply several notches above the rest.
Agreed. Shorter as well. And Rory is the top dog as presenters go. But good to see TG taking it to the snow. Next video for Rory I hope, and ideally near me (French Alps…..). 😂
Another great review backed up by some truly amazing photography from Rory and the team. Would really love to watch this on the big screen to enjoy every second again and again; and yes - it does make you dream of owning and driving a 911. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This might be the first factory spec bulit 911 off road, but I remember in the 80's/90's seeing people's Porsche cars modded for off road complete with the roof rack setup
I really hope that this will start a trend among all the manufacturers to bring back their estates with high ground clearance. I myself would love any Allroad, Allterrain, Alltrack, Scout or whatever they will call them before having an SUV. These type of cars, like the 911 Dakar, have so much better handling than an SUV, but they don't lack the ground clearance needed for rough roads.
I absolutely love this car. If / when I'm rich it's a definite buy. A rugged Porsche, that I don't mind just using day to day. Speed bumps, pot holes etc....no worries However I would really like them to do a every day version as such. No role cage and just a bit more luxury orientated.
Open your mind and think about it... It's the best solution for someone who wants a Dakar rally car, a WRC car and a highly capable sports car all in one and without having to pay for their extreme cost to buy them and also maintain them... Well played Porsche!!! Fantastic presented for one more time Rory and the whole team!!! PS I'm poor. Time to have a spin with my humble Hyundai and dream for a Dakar...
They must do it, it will be a huge hit. Not many years left till complete electrification, so they should go all in and after 10 year to continue adapt this style in new ev
Traditional YT/TV car reviews should look like this or not look at all. Amazing work, one of the best in the automotive media, ever. Also, new dream car unlocked, because of this review. I want one.
Curious to see how this Dakar would fend in the harsh Canadian winter since the nearest sand dune I can find is at my elementary school’s playground for little children and I think the school staff would have a thing or two to say about me doing drifts there in my Dakar…nonetheless great video as always. Rory for Mad Max 2!! 💪🏼
Rough Roads instead of Rothman's is a bit camp. I mean if I ordered a 911 Turbo in Martini livery would it say Mr Turbo in place of Martini? NO!! It would just have the Rothmans or Martini style livery and colors.
The perfect road trip car, it has the power, the espace, the comfort, and the ground clearance to not be worried about pot holes or making a wrong turn and be on a dirty gravel road
I've watched a bunch of different videos (Top Gear, etc.) on the 911 Dakar after the press was able to get their hands on them to test drive them in harsh conditions but I have to say that this was the most beautifully done. Kudos to the team who put this together!
they should do a toned down but similar package for the base /S. Would be so much more useful especially for the horrendous tarmac often found around Malaysia.
@@ibrahimmuyibi4489 why am I not even surprised you would be saying KL, come to Sarawak, you are practically on the moon if you experience driving on our road lol
nice intro cinematography & song, great overall video, most appealing Porsche to me. in that exact spec, if I'm ever rich enough to own 1, i just might, but it'l prol be distant memory or classic in an electrified world by then
Thank you for creating a story rooted in history, emotion, and magic. Makes us all feel like kids again. People may say there is no reason for its existence. But there absolutely is. It’s important to create things that comfortable, “rational” people find irrational because it puts a smile on the faces of everyone else that didn’t follow the script in life as well. And in this case-when the crazy ones out vote the suits-beautiful things can happen. Just waiting for the upgrade kit for my 991 GTS 🤣
I think you’re right, Rory, this car makes no sense, but yet it makes complete sense! 🤪 I’m gonna say that the 911 Dakar is quite impressive, it’s a cute and fast little off-roader
