In this tutorial Chris Dutton will teach you how to master Power BI’s brand new card visual, first introduced in June 2023.
We’ll start with basic setup and styling, practice adding images and reference labels, then apply conditional formatting and custom icons using the DAX UNICHAR function.
As a bonus, we’ll show you how to add custom embedded visuals to cards using scalable vector graphics (SVGs) and free online templates.

Quick tip for bulk editing the DAX, if you use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + F2 (or Ctrl + Shift + L) after you have selected the 1st "financials[Date]", it will select all versions of that wording and you can overtype them in one move.

I enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing. One question I have is... where can I find the list of unicodes that includes 129129 and 129131. I am unable to find any codes in that range. And then I am hoping that there are other similar codes that I could peruse. Thanks!

Thanks for the video! I followed your steps, created new card and added few reference labels. When I did that, the first top of the card is so massive, you can’t see any of the reference label data below the devider. I have to make the card almost as big as my whole dashboard for all the info to be visible. How can I adjust it? Ideally I would want to move the devider up, so the rest of the data shows up. Any ideas?

I've heard similar reports, and I think it's likely a bug (not uncommon for preview features)

Absolutely fabulous run through of the New Card. I am a Power BI instructor, and need to show the New Card to my learners next week. Do I show it myself or just show them this visual (and let them see how a master does it)? Tricky decision.

Thanks a lot for the video I followed through but somehow the context filter of start month is applying even to the reference labels and not displaying values for previous month How do I work around this?

Just had to google a bit, sorry. STARTOFMONTH(DateTime[DateKey]) It is a standart DAX script, in my case I wanted start of the week and used this line StartOfWeek = [Date] + 1 - WEEKDAY([Date], 2) This works for weeks that start on Monday, also careful with it for the weeks that start/end on the border of the year.
