New PowerWall2.1 with SEPLOS Battery & Victron Cerbo GX. BMS slows charging at 16%SOC already?

The new #PowerWall 2.1 is now LIVE. I've connected the Pool Fence solar to the #Victron MPPT as the incoming energy source to the Victron Lynx 'Peter' Distributor.
On the other side of the Lynx Shunt, I have now connected the #Seplos battery to the Victron Power In. For now, I'm running the batteries in parallel with just one cable connected to the bus bars.
In the last step we connect the only MPPT and the battery to the Cerbo GX which is a true plug'n play task. Immediately, the system shows up on the Victron VRM. But, what do I have to see!? The Seplos BMS already slows down our charging?

It is obvious why the Victron solar charger is refusing to charge. It has gone on strike! due to the fact that it is not part of the big system, not on the same level and connected to a bunch of second hand panels leaning on a fence!!!!!! Keep up the great work Andy love you inquisitive nature.

I think it is important to point out that one has to pay attention to the voltage rating of fuses. For instance most Mega fuses are rated up to 24V or even less. Inexperienced people might not be aware of that and just pick the far less expensive fuses from ebay or Aliexpress.

Andy, On some of my installs i have used a bridge rectifier similar to jaycar ZR-1324. The ones i got off Ali were alloy encased but provided Jaycar reference as i can't provide comments with links to Ali. As a example of one install (note this only works with common ground). 12V Starter Battery (FLA) +ve fused and connected to AC leg 1. 24V House (LiFEO4) +ve fused and connected to AC leg 2. +ve out of bridge connected into Buck Converter to convert to 5v that is connected to RPi etc Using the above, both sources have fail before i loose mgmt power, and the house battery being higher than starter it is preferentially used.

You could also plug the smart shunt of the lynx into cerbo-gx, as a secondary measurement. I would swap the distribution & power in of lynx around. So the battery cable is not at max stretch just incase battery is knocked & moved.
@OffGridGarageAustralia
@OffGridGarageAustralia Год назад
That won't work. You can nominate only one battery monitor in the system (which makes sense), so either the shunt or the BMS. The Power In always needs to stay left of the shunt and distributor on the right. Otherwise the current measured in the shunt is reversed.

Do you plan to add a class T fuse (or a noark breaker?) prior to the power-in? The ANL fuse in the lynx shunt module is quite far from the battery to provide short protection. Or are you happy that the 400A fuse in the battery enclosure is fast enough and got high enough interrupt current to suffice for this purpose?

I had the a similar issue. It turned out to be the BMS was stuck in Pre-charge mode even after 10% SOC... even after a BMS reset and set to default settings the issue occurred. What is the point of placing the Victron shunt in the system when we already have a Shunt on the Seplos BMS board? If so, which would be the priority? Quick question I've been pondering guys- If I'm using a Renogy DC to DC charger between my lifepo4 battery and my vehicle's battery - would I need to have the "on" switch connected to the relay area or is it enough to use the switch that is already connected in my vehicle which controls the power from the van battery to the pos and neg that are going back to the cargo area? (It had an isolator setup to an auxiliary battery when I bought the vehicle, controllable through this switch to charge through the alternator power.) Thanks much! I know you guys love the batteries and solar setups! Much appreciated

We have the same inverter, my son got an AC shunt for the AC output which plugs into the raspberry pi and now shows the AC usage on the victron app.... I'm not sure where he got the AC shunt from but I think that it's on the victron website.... It would be great to connect the inverter to the raspberry pi via the remote switch connector on the inverter to be able to remotely turn on or off the inverter as needed, not sure if a relay would be needed or the raspberry pi could directly do the switching? Someone with more experience with the raspberry pi would know better than me, I'm not sure what voltage or current would be at the remote switch for the inverter either..... But the AC shunt is well worth it... I highly recommend it.

have you seen those dc fuses catch fire when you cutoff power from solar when 10 amps are going through them. They now use disconnect solar switches as that fuse will do nothing but cause a fire. I seen 2 videos showing that and they are made by Australians. The disconnects have a greater distance so the arc is not able to keep firing like with that PV breaker you have. Just want you to not burn down your garage/house etc.

For me the Victron Multiplus or Phoenix inverters 48V/5000va are so expensive. Also, you will be using a Non-Victron inverter and you won't have load data in the system. I was thinking if in this case it would be possible to connect a Victron Energy meter ET112 behind the Non-Victron inverter, which can be connected to the Victron Cergo GX and deliver load data to the system that way even when using the Non-Victron inverter. What do you think about this?

I have a feeling that DVCC may have some influence on your charging problem, I have a sneaky feeling, I had to disable DVCC on my system, it was messing around with my setup.... Well see though.

What was your problem? DVCC should not be disabled if you have BMS coms.

@@ShaneFromSA DVCC was causing major charging problems with my BMS's, it was limiting current and as in Andy's case and it was messing with my top end voltages in batteries. I disabled it and just set my MPPT logic to follow set charge curves and have been running for 4 months flat and zero issues. DVCC does NOT play nicely with all BMS's, software or firmware wise that is. Understandably though, and in all fairness to Victron, whom I have quite a few products of, the DVCC logic was developed to run on their systems, they can't (and should not) have to guarantee 100% operation or interface with other manufacturers BMS's it should be the other way around. That being said though, once DVCC was disabled Bob was running 100%.

Go Setting then DVCC then SVS, STS , SCS disable then try

Why should I disable that? Just checked, only SVS is active...

24V, I believe. Maybe 36V.

@@OffGridGarageAustralia will they do in a 48v system if fuse is 32v

@@zxrjimmy1 it's just for my test setup. For a real system, I would get the correct voltage rating fuses.

I am not a big proponent of daisy chain batteries. Make them all parallel.

Too much for what. It's a 1000A busbar it protects, so it should be right.

We don't need the Lynx shunt when using batteries with a Smart BMS.
