I'm getting my first puppy soon! You helped me convinced my mom because she knows i'm edicucated enough for a dog. I learned so much from you, so helpful!
Harnesses are great, and I highly recommend them for extra small and small dogs. They have a fragile trachea (windpipe). If you are walking them with a collar and leash and they suddenly bolt they are at risk of seriously hurting or breaking the trachea because you are likely holding the other end. I recommend a harness for any dog in the Toy Breed category.
Not just toy breeds would be better with harnesses. Although you are right about smaller dogs' trachea, it isn't ver good for any dog to have their neck pulled at. I would recommend harnesses for all breeds of dogs to avoid injuring their throats/tracheas.
I would add a puppy toothbrush and toothpaste to get them used to having their teeth brushed while they are young. Enjoy your videos and such beautiful dogs you have.
Loved the video (actually all of them)!!!! Love your dogs. Dachshunds are my favorite breed of dogs and your the only account that focuses on dachshunds.👍🏼🐾🐶
animalluver04 mine is a French bulldog but I have a apple head Chihuahua I love her also I had a dashhound but she got out and never came back her name was hotdog
Also, check what each size means for each product/company. A small harness for one brand may be a medium to another in terms of measurements. Just because it's labeled "small", it doesn't mean that it will fit your Yorkie; they might have a Petite size or maybe not even a Yorkie size for that product. This can be beds, crates, harnesses, anything that factors in the dog's size and/or weight.
Very educational video. Loved it, and I'm sure all of the soon to be puppy owners did too! And ahhhh! You're at 700 subscribers! So close to 1K! I feel like only yesterday I was celebrating the fact you were at 200! I am super proud to be one of those subscribers:)
Your doggies are so cute!!! My babies have at least 50 toys & yet they are constantly getting into fights with each other over a particular 4 😑. Haha thanks for such an educational video!
Yes. It was very informative and love the way you are so detailed...please do more dog ownership videos. We are getting our first puppy and although excited also a little anxious. Can you do a video on training puppies to do things like: sit, stay etc and for housebreaking? Thanks...btw love your hair!!!! 😀
Flexi leashes are some of the most dangerous leashes! They can cause injury to you, your dog, or others. Also out in public and especially around other dogs on leashes your dog should never be allowed to be that far away from you. And they also don't allow you to have any control. It's a little different with smaller dogs and non pulling dogs but they can still be extremely dangerous. You are better of with a standard leash and getting one a little longer. If you want your dog to have space to run go to a dog park.
Thank you for your input. As with most things most of the time it comes down to knowing the equipment you're using. The Flexi leads have been a really asset to us but may not be for everyone. Again, thank you for your input as it's good to get all the facts out there
I would recomend to start your puppy off with a harness because if you use a callar at first it can cause breathing promlems because their just getting used to the new word so they'll want to run around and adventure. So if your pulling on the leash it will hurt them a lot. But with a harness it doesnt. :)
That’s a very good and helpful video it helped me a lot when I got my own little Cockapoo puppy last year (We’ve always had dogs but he’s my very own one) so I didn’t really know what to get. I watched a bunch of videos and find yours one of the best and found pretty much all of your tips helpful. Except for the flexi leash one. I personally find that flexi leashes aren’t very good with puppy’s because the imitate that pulling on their leash gives them more space hence they pull a lot on normal leashes as well. We used them too for our old Rottweilers but only when they were fully trained. But that all depends on your puppy and your decisions. Just try it for yourself and find your own opinion. You have very adorable dogs and make really good videos
I rescued a 6 year old Chiweenie and my Bearded Collie had to teach him how to act like a dog. Now he knows how to play, sniff other dog's butts, and stick his head out of the window. Sometimes you can teach them, sometimes you can't!
The thing that really worked for me was when she bites you pull your hand away and yelp and yip like a puppy would if it got hurt. Your puppy doesn't want to hurt you but she doesn't know that it does either. Hope this helps! Let me know!
I am getting a nova Scotia duck tolling retriever puppy in 2 months thank you so much for this video it helped so much. also what kind of dog is ginus (sorry if i spelled his name wrong) and i love your dogs
+The Adventures of Willy and Tilly aww my dad used to have one he said that he was amazing and I do love puppies too and I'm so excited to get my little princess
Totally go to a puppy class, they are so much fun! Get to meet other people with different breed puppies! Plus they help with all sorts of things like leash, crate, bite ambition, etc! Which just really helps the troubleshooting of puppy life!
Rawhide are bad..Considering they are bleach/dyed..then glued together, I wouldn't promote them instead like antlers, etc. Are just better to go with lol After having an incident with one of our adopters of a puppy we had that had to get pieces removed (aka surgery) because of the rawhide the owner gave it, always say just avoid them.. It's not worth the vet bills..
I actually don’t think you need a dog bed right away.. this is because when you get a new puppy you need to potty train it so I recommend starting off with a cage and just throw some towels in the cage as bedding
