Jeff Z not the only one. I feel like it would be easier to see the letters in the key when it’s dark with the covered design. The only reason I would want a non covered design is if I wanted to go all out with rgb but I like my setup to be sort of minimalistic with the rgb

@@jeffz4352 That makes 0 sense, just because less junk can fall into it doesn't mean the keyboard would be easier to clean. It's the exact opposite because if it does manage to get in there you won't be able to see it and it will build up over time. Having an exposed switch design makes the keyboard way easier to clean.

I really like the black widow and have been waiting for the dedicated sound keys. But the white background that allows the keyboard glow was what make the chroma series so nice. Eliminating that makes it a bummer.

Doesn't sound too bad. Cool that they're allowing 3rd parties into their software now. I really don't like the floating key look, but I agree that they do seem to be trying to make meaningful improvements to their product line. Wonder if they wil ever make a 60% board.

I have this keyboard and yes it can be loud when gaming fps (headphones sort that out), it's an ASMR delight. It's so nice to use and I love the per key lighting. Done 20+ hrs in World of Warcraft with it and the leather wrist rest is a pleasure.

Owner of a black widow elite here, it’s honestly an amazing keyboard if you are looking for a starter manual (first manual I’ve ever had) It took me a few days to get into it as long as you don’t mind price yo should get it

I must say, I been going crazy looking for a keyboard for regular typing for my business, and for gaming. I have also been searching until I found these keyboards. First I was very confused because both are very nice, but different and at the same time looking almost the same. I have been looking for something like a semi-industrial keyboard with a club stylish feeling. Because you pointed one from another. I was able to make an executive decision to buy the Blackwidow Elite. It sounds nice when typing, is heavy, and I like the armrest, and it's going to look so nice in my office. Plus little things like this keyboard gets me motivated in my business. So after watching your tutorial 5 times, and listening closely, I bought the Elite. So thank you so much.

Can you please give me a suggestion which of these two keyboards I should get either the logitech g513 with the gx blue switches or the bw elite with the new razer green switches? From my point of view I think the gx blue switches sound better but the stability of the new razer green switches is better. The razer's cable is also much more stable than that of the logitech keyboard. But for that logitech WASD has extra gaming buttons. So I wanted to ask you which one you would recommend to me.

CoreKay 72 in my opinion the GX blue switches are not good at all. I would go with the newer Razer greens over the gx. Watch my review of the g512 for my full thoughts on the gx blue.

I actually prefer not having the white background, the novelty of the excess lighting would wear off quick for me resulting in a constant visual distraction when typing. I like RGB, but I'm not overkill about it. I also like that they use a normal font as well instead of the muscle flex gamer font (xXxDevistator69xXx) that so many companies use.

No. Glad this doesn't have macro keys. Keep it like the Model M as much as possible with the addition of media keys, usb passthrough, and function key combos.

yeah macro keys make the keyboard less clean. i like the huntsman (base model, fuck the elite) because of how clean it looks. too bad there isnt a TKL version i can buy yet

I spent a few days being torn between the blackwidow elite and the huntsman elite, which I eventually chose the huntsman elite. I went to Best Buy and tested out the switches before hand, and I can say that I think that the 5g difference is noticeable enough to where I don’t feel fatigued after hours on my keyboard, which is a change of pace in my experience with razer keyboards. I’d say if you still are torn and reading this comment, go with the huntsman. The lightning is insane and the keys feel a bit better actually.

Sorry , i didnt think so. The Problem with the Huntsman that i have is the Sound of the Switches. I mean when you press , you get on some of the Keys a high frequent Ping. But only on some of them. I have tested two Huntsman elite. That high Sound is a no cgo for me. On the Blackwidow Elite all Keys sound the same. The Keys dont have the bad Ping Sound. I thik the Problem is the small metllic Holder on the Switch.

They need to make another version with a white or pâle silver board (to help the illumination), keep the caps, media control and wrist rest black! It would surely still not look as great as the BlackWidom Chroma V2 because the caps aren't encased but still would surely help make it even better! Kinda like Corsair did with the K95 (Black and GunMetal version) but even better...

I love mine. The only thing I wish I could do with it is make the dial control the brightness of the RGB Lighting, as I had a Redragon K580 Vata where the brightness was controlled by the volume wheel.

Great Review of the Razer BlackWidow Elite, I currently own a Logitech G213 Keyboard which went wrong recently, so I have been looking at buying my 1st Mechanical Keyboard, I already own a Razer Naga Molten MMO Gaming Mouse which I have had for years! So after watching you review I decided to by myself one from Amazon for £139.99 which will be delivered tomorrow! I like the idea of the USB and Audio Passthrough and Cable Routing really appeals to me, I couldn’t quite afford the Huntsman Elite, but I like all the features of this Razer BlackWidow Elite, like the Media controls, Wrist Rest being Magnetic, this is a massive step up from what I am currently using as the Logitech! I work hard, so why Not play hard is my Motto 😊

I've had the blackwidow elite for a bit over a week now. I ADORE this keyboard. I don't adore synapse 3. It completely ruins an amazing peripheral. If the software worked properly it would be really cool, but it doesn't. If I have it loaded then every 10-20 seconds the RGB flicker blank for an instant and then come back (for example during the usually smooth transitions of spectrum cycling) and sometimes it will stop taking input for a few seconds. I even had it continuously start typing a single letter today and had to ctrl-alt-del logout and back in to stop it. If I exit Synapse 3 the problems stop. But the other RGB effects, macros, keybinding, and the rest aren't available without Synapse 3 up. Does anyone have a remedy for these issues without leaving Synapse 3 unloaded?

I have a razer blackwidow elite keyboard, and this month, the mute key is no longer red, when I activate the mute key ... I already looked on the internet, and I saw that there are a lot of people complaining ... If i uninstall the keyboard and reinstall it, it works, but as soon as I restart the computer, it returns to it, that is, the red mute led stops working ... Do you have this problem ??? Same for the Huntsman Elite...

Hey brainbean. I really enjoy your keyboard reviews. They are made with Quality and dedication :) So i bought the blackwidow elite a couple days and im happy and a little bit unsatisfied. Tbh, it is my first mechanical keyboard, i had mecha-membran before. They green switches are very nice and the rgb lights are awesome. It is also synchronising with my razer naga, so they light up in the same patterns and colours. The only downsite i have Noticed, are the wrist rest and the missing Illumination for : ; , The wrist rest is nice and comfy, but those magnets wont hold at all. So i dont know if ill just bring it back and get something else. I'll decide in a couple days. Overall its a nice keyboard with an easy userfriendly Software. But do you guys maybe have any recommendations for another keyboard? :D Sorry for my english ^^

It’s this or the huntsman elite, what one should I get and what one is better? I do like the look of both and I’ve never had a razer keyboard or mouse, I’m quite young and I got a cooler master keyboard and mouse ages ago and I’ve been using those and they have been good but if you guys could tell me what one to get I’d appreciate it.

Evara Razer is generally known as overpriced and low life span. Its personal preference to what you get, but make sure you test both at a store. Razer switches feel cheap to me but maybe you will like them

Depends on what you like, but both are rather sensitive switches as the yellows actuate at 1.2mm while the optomech switch actuated at 1.5mm but with the yellow it’s smooth so there is no tactility, but on the purple switch there is little tactile feedback

still abs keycaps tho. as much as i love razer, i wish they would have pbt keycaps or at least sell them in their store, as not many other brands have the 6.0x bottom row. and the ones that do are either blank or have some stupid gamer font that looks atrocious. plus, it will earn them more money so i dont get why not. its not that much more expensive than abs anyway

Most likely to be membrane. I don't think they will design a new switch housing just for the media keys.

Thx. It sounds amazing. I was in the shop the other day touching keyboards on the display with no particular purpose. I came across Blackwidow elite and fell in love from the first click. It sounds perfect for me. To be honest it feels more quiet than my cherry mx board with brown switches because of the build quality... Mx board is plastic and sounds hollow when typing. Anyway next day I ordered blackwidow and its on the way.

Who here can't afford any of these expensive nice looking keyboards *cries* Well I can.... My wallet feels lighter already from buying 6 keyboards (Razer ornata d2, Razer black widow v2 greetech yellow, Razer blackwidow 2014 te kailh green, Corsair strafe silent reds, Razer hunstman elite for a friend, hyperx alloy reds) bonus a nomo osu keypad with blues browns reds and blacks. This is why I'm crying
