The long-awaited successor to the immensely popular KROSS, the KROSS 2 is an amazingly compact and portable workstation.

Which has better organic pads and real string pads, Kross or Juno DS?

Whichever, but you must program those organic pads yourself as they come with none but are more than capable of such. Strings are equally good on both, in my opinion. Kross2 for more bite, Juno-DS for fuller strings. Kross lacks pad presets utilizing the acoustic strings, but they can be programmed easily, the machine is more than equipped for that. Whichever you go for, to get your money's worth, you've got to delve into sound design. Factory presets are mostly "underprogrammed", a bit more so on the Juno-DS, all merit tweaking for even better sound than what you can hear in any youtube demo. Kross2 utterly destroys the Juno-DS when it comes to general music production, it is the only true workstation in its price range. For just live performance, you might like the Juno a bit better.

Cant wait for a New Krome with sampling pads/sampler, fuller sound and better keybed to challenge the Roalnd FA06 features…… The Kross 2 is decent for starters with limited funds. I need a better synth than Kross 2, Krome 2 will be Nice.

keybed just like the R3 VA synth from long ago, and who knows what older products, keybed is probably some low-cost junk they've been making since the '90s or '80s for lower-end products, I bet

It's also impossible to do much with it unless you use a third party editor. It sounds fine of course any many people buy it just for that reason alone but in terms of functionality it is definitely lagging behind the Kross V2

For the most part,I would agree....Yamaha got their asses handed to them,by Korg...with the Kross 2.I had become really fed up with hardware and sold off all my gear,but the Kross 2 is really a game changer and to me,it is the ultimate midi controller for my PC set up.It's so sleek & sexy looking and is jam packed with more features than any other product in this price range...amazing!

+Prodigal Son That's all well & good,but seems hardly relevant...as the Blofeld is in an entirely different category...just saying.The Blofeld is a fine sound designing tool,but as for myself,I prefer to leave the task of sound designing,mostly to my PC.Personally,the Kross 2,will serve as a very capable midi controller for my computer,with some very nice bonuses.The Kross 2 represents a tremendous value to me,as it is perfect for a second PC workstation,while also allowing me an occasional reprieve from my computer.

@@PeterGarofalo yeah the 61 has the awful keybed, both gens do (just to leave this comment here for anyone else coming through here later) 88 is overall better, but the pianists online complain that the responsiveness of the black keys does not match the white keys on the 88-key model, enough to make pros sound like they are rookies if they don't learn to compensate for the difference in their playing, so they'd rather not and go for the MX88 or Juno-DS88 instead, which have better keybeds, especially the Juno I'm not so picky, I go with 61-key keyboards, but even I dislike the Kross keybed a lot.

Please Santa......can I have one. I hope you can change values with something other than the data wheel....i.e. Type them in. It's very black......not quite as funky looking as v1.....Korg should be bold and make future keyboards look more funky.....but maybe black is a safe bet for them. The pads are a nice addition.

Not on the 61 key. The 88 key is. Both are velocity sensitive though.

nope, they aren't even drum pads, they are just a cosmetically different version of the 16 button row of Kross1 no joke, they are just trying to look cool with the drum pad look, I don't like how they mislead that way, but for triggering one-shot samples and what not, they do respond more conveniently than the Kross1 buttons would if they had kept them

I’ve had one of these a few weeks now and find it difficult to use. The manual is headache material. Was hoping for some clarity here, but no. I’m sure it’s easy once you know, so I must push on. Amazes me how hopeless people are at explaining things.

Roland should make every board with an option for weighted keys cause sometimes it’s hard to get the same feel and emotion out of a synth vs a real piano because of key strike and pedal use and sustain and all of it

No, no raise... he's tall enough. Just give him more quids. a few more buttons than the first but, does it have more sounds, more pcm memory, a larger SD card accepted than the first, what is new or better than the original kross? not explained here...

Darrin Wilson,yes yr very right but I,m fed up with lugging huge equipment around and had to give up a lot of playing and change to a guitar,most of the lighter stuff is overloaded with stuff I don,t need,got a drummer,bass player etc think this is for studio and recording all I need is a piano and epiano etc.and 48keys would do.No wonder the guitar dominates.peace

@YZS Group Lots of things accesing menus lots of pages ,and the sounds are not great its my honest opinion, ( there where some great sounds but only a few) sold it after 2 weeks I bought the limited edition white ( my opinion is this go try it out in store before you buy dont make my mistake buying without even trying it, my opinion is this try before you buy dont make my mistake and listen to youtube reviews only

@@SynthGrooves any complex digital synth has pages of parameters everywhere, why is this a complaint? most of the presets can be tweaked for much better sound, no different than the competition at that, really versatility and functionality is unequaled in its price range by far, too, but if you only want it for performing, then yeah, probably not your best option depending on what you're doing

@Licinius Varrus Im sorry if I offended you in any way but what I say is an opinion Ive owned synths before and keyboards aswell but I wasnt impressed by the sound quality I bought the kross 2 I expected more out of it and the dissapointment i had is beyond everything after selling it and losing money
