*NEW RESTAURANT* REVIEWS at Disney World's Caribbean Beach Resort! 

I’ve been a vegetarian for 5 years. Meat eaters simply don’t seem to like meatless options because they compare them to real meat-which they typically eat regularly. For someone that hasn’t tasted meat in years, meatless options are typically not compared to meat in terms of flavor. Instead, we enjoy the seasonings and texture. So jackfruit does work in place of pork. Tofu often works in place of meat. But you can’t expect it to taste “just like” something it is not. It just tastes /good/.

We checked out CB last week and loved the renovations. We ate at Spy Glass Grill which was great and we didn't even know it existed before.

I find it amusing the amount of crab there is at Sebastian's. You get to make jokes about that..

I havent eaten meat for decades, and I'm over the moon at the many options that have become available recently. It is so crucial to our environment and our health to consider alternatives to animal flesh, and I'm so grateful that Disney has seen the benefits. I've been forced to either pack a PB&J or be satisfied with potato chips for many of my meals at WDW over the years, so Kudos to Disney for providing options for those of us who dont eat meat, and those who want to try plant based alternatives.

We have our reservation for January and can't wait! CBR has always been our favorite non DVC resort and we've stayed there over a dozen times since 2007! So Excited for this! Thanks AJ for giving us a sneak peak!

The new CBR central area looks gorgeous, and seems to have a great vibe - let's hope it stays that way. This is weird they ONLY have grab and go, for lunch, as you mentioned. Somebody else also said there is only 1 order/ cashier area, which created (and will continue to create) EXTREMELY long lines to order/pay, instead of having separate order areas for each pod/type of food. They definitely need to rethink that, IMHO. I do like that they are using the "fast casual" model you see everywhere - order your food, then it's brought to the table for you - convenient, especially for someone like me, who uses a cane, and has to carry my own trays, drinks, etc - a very "not pretty" juggling act at times! Thanx for being right on top of this!!

As a vegetarian, I LOVE all of the meat substitutes Disney is adding to all their new menus. And no, jackfruit does not taste like pork, but it is super yummy and not sweet like you may expect :) Definitely worth a try for anyone!

Never considered staying at this resort before- but there are so many awesome vegan/ plant based options here now- that is so great to see!!! This resort is definitely a contender on our next visit- even if we don't end up staying here- we would definitely make the trip over to eat there!! Disney is doing such a great job offering healthier and more diverse options now!!

Jackfruit and pork have the same texture but not the same taste. If you drown it in barbecue sauce though it’s actually pretty good.

I think the jackfruit is a wonderful idea to reduce environmental impact, animal consumption, and to provide a lighter option for people who watch their diets or are on a meat-free diet. :) I honestly have never tried it myself, but I intend to when I'm able! I so appreciate Disney's effort to provide for us vegheads!

I miss Shutter's. It was one of my favorite restaurants at Disney World.

I LOVE BBQ JACKFRUIT! I don't know that I would say that it tastes exactly like pork, but it's super tasty and a great alternative.

Just left Caribbean resort on 10/6. So bummed we missed the opening. Overall had a great experience at this resort. Can’t wait to go back in the future!

Yassss we went in August and stayed at carribean beach. We had breakfast in the tent once and we never went back again. It was really unorganised and wasn’t somewhere you could eat comfortably. However I think they did quite well considering they had to find an alternative.

I'm at least glad the referb is finished, even if I dislike some of the menu options. I have a boring food pallet, so I wish they'd at least kept my bacon double cheeseburger option. Also, I agree with others who say Sebastian's is an odd choice aince they're essentially serving up his friends. I guess Chef Louis (the Chef in The Little Mermaid) wasn't as catchy haha Also, love your vids A.J.

all of disney looks like every time the renovate it gets blander which is disappointing. i expect bright colors and magic not fancy bs.

I'm assuming the grab n go for lunch is because they didn't do enough business at lunch to justify more than that. When I stayed there 3 years ago I ate lunch there like twice and it was pretty empty.

I’ve never stayed at Caribbean Beach but the renovations have peaked my interest. I know it’s in the Epcot resort area technically, does the walking path that goes to the boardwalk, Hollywood and Epcot it’s self connect over to Caribbean beach? What about the boat?

We are planning to stay here in March and have a Pirate room booked. I have heard a couple of knocks against these rooms is that they are very far away from the main area. Anyone have any thoughts about this?

Hey AJ, My concern about the New Banana Cabana, is that now it seems like it will be full of families waiting for there dinner reservations...when I get back from the parks and want to unwind , I don't want to see kids sitting at the bar drinking Shirley temples taking up seats ,while there parents are standing behind them blocking up the whole area (strollers,bags,etc.) never had that problem at the old banana cabana....this seems like it will become an issue .

Is Banana Cabana a quick service or table service on the DDP

How many person can come with 1 platinum annual pass? Is there a early morning magic in Disney in March ?

I used to work there(2011-2016), and the menu at Shutters was small and pricey. Now it's HUGE and pricey. Love the decor and the selections, just the prices are getting too high.

Can you still get pancakes at Carribean Beach? Not ok the mobile order menu. 😞

Centertown looks so much better than it used to....It was too over the top before and almost made me want to puke. Love the new styling...a definite reason to go there again.

Very excited vegetarian headed to Disney this month and can't wait to hang out pool side here. The new renovations look beautiful, I appreciate how they kept some of the old Caribbean vibes but updated it to a more modern look. A lot of resorts when you travel to the Caribbean islands have a more updated look but when you travel to the street markets you still get that vibrant Caribbean culture and amazing food. I really hope they bring a little bit more Caribbean flair to the resorts though... Food seems safe (but they are trying to introduce people to the Caribbean flavor without overwhelming) just a little bit more color and culture should be showcased. But I do love the mural they painted!

Saw your video today, since we were resort hopping and checking things out. Banana Cabana bartender said we could order the pull apart bread and the fritters at Sebastian’s, but we could not order them at cabana. We go to Sebastian’s and they tell us no carry out, only inside seating. Bartender was amazed and took care of us... but over cooked fritters and 4 rolls (that did NOT look like items in video) were $25. 😳 So FYI, not worth the hassle OR the price (especially when eating out of take out container. 😬

Has anyone noticed an increase in the price of the rooms at CB now that the restaurants are running? Also, the breakfast menu items that you showed seemed a bit overpriced, some at 4.99 and most at about $8, what’s up with that?? 👀

That’s horrifying that they call the restaurant Sebastian’s bistro and they serve crab 😱

The only thing that stood out to me were the Keylime tarts

To a vegetarian Jack Fruit is a good substitute for carnitas tacos or pulled pork. But we are not expecting it to taste exactly like meat. 😉😉😉

Been staying there for 25 years and am a little disappointed in the refurb. Its looks too modern and sterile and has lost its colorful Caribbean flair. Also whats with no lunch served in Centertown? Don't really want to spend 20.00 for a burger at Sebastian's. Also for the kids NO MORE ARCADE!!

An upvote for the fine piece you did on this, but I wish I could downvote Disney for doing this. Part of the reason I made my Jan 2019 reservations to come here was to see that cool Centertown I've been seeing in videos for years. Now it doens't look like an outdoor market that happens to be indoors. Those muted colors aren't a modernization of improvement, they're a departure from what I ( the paying customer ) wanted to see. Every time Disney makes a change to a resort they make it more like every other non-Disney resort I've ever seen, and a lot less "Wow, this is amazing! Only Disney could do this!" They've been leaving that Wow Factor behind for some time now. I wish they'd quit "improving" and just leave the things they did correctly the first time, alone.

I had always wanted to try Shutters, and I'm disappointed because the menu at Sebastian's Bistro does not appeal to me at all, and I think they made the decor look too bland now.

How do you know that they use cage free eggs?

I have two pirate rooms booked here for June 2019. Its the first time I'll be staying at this particular D. resort. I've seen so many pics of the old design which I think looked more whemsical and interesting. However, I do like how they moved the old check in building to Old Port Royal where every thing else is. But l agree with others who feel the new interior design just looks like so many other hotels in Florida. It seems Disney is moving away from the magic and going ultra urban or something. And I hope they plan on doing something about those ugly Sky liner towers they've planted in the middle of all that lush Caribbean landscape. They've done the same thing to the World Of Magic store in Disney Springs. It just seems plain compared to the way it looked before.

Is it just me or is it somewhat scarring how the restaurant, starring the crab from the Little Mermaid, is serving crab cakes? Like as if you’re eating him? LOL

I’m vegan and I am not a fan of jackfruit as pork or jackfruit as anything savory for that matter. 😂 I have yet to try a jackfruit ‘pork’ dish that I enjoyed. Frankly I think they would be better off using some soy curls or something.

The color palette at Sebastian's is identical to Old Country Buffet. Or at least what I remember Old Country Buffet being in the 90s. Very meh, extremely outdated, and just plain blah looking. Can't say if it's an improvement as I never saw the old scheme. But it's definitely the look I associate with old people getting senior discounts. It's hilarious that anyone could think it's modern.

They removed all the good options from the food court. As a Caribbean, I'm disappointed how much less Caribbean they have made this. Also, arepas and tacos? Those are not Caribbean at all. I know Disney does a lot of fusion menus but I feel like whoever planned these menus thinks arepas are Caribbean. On the islands, houses and markets are bright colors sometimes making the views of the towns look like Easter egg baskets. The change from Old Port Royale to Centertown has completely washed out the magic. I won't be staying at CBR again.
