The Department of Education (DepEd) produced an updated version of the "Panatang Makabayan" following discussions with linguists and specialists.
In DepEd Order No. 004 series of 2023, signed by Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte, the department directed the “immediate dissemination of and strict compliance” of the amended version of the “Panatang Makabayan” which featured a change in terminology. The word “nagdarasal” was changed into “nananalangin.”
