Great to see a new euc rider and see the learning curve. Seems to soon for offroad being a newer rider. He must be tough not to wear more gear.

@@Speedyfeetuk UK people are alot tougher thats for sure. Wheels are alot faster and heavier now though compared to 2014. Gear is so affordable. Why chance it? Especially when trying out a new environment.

@@eucryan Yep, just yesterday read a guy saying how he broke his wrist, ruined his whole summer and his wrist will never be the same again. Or, you know, a $15 pair of wrist-sliders. Main paid for themselves my 2nd ride, where I fell into a bike rack.

You can't learn it all in one day... you will learn more while asleep the night after riding. One thing to remember with EUCs is, you have to be in front of the wheel, or behind it... you are better to slow down (behind the wheel) when approaching a gate/turn. then accelerate (in front of the wheel) around the post or corner... any time you are straight up and down on the wheel... it can take over, so, don't be afraid to speed up and slow down for stability. Also, because you can ride a long distance, doesn't mean you should when learning. You will be better to ride 10' then slow down and dismount.... then mount and ride another 10' then stop and dismount again... try and dismount where you want (mark a box to dismount in) rather than dismounting where you end up haha

Hilarious, so, so funny, certainly a trier :-) Coming up to gates and obstacles, make sure you stop first, don't try to grab on to it for stability, that wont up end up well, clipping foot plates on things isn't good either, I picked up a bramble once and that had me off. So cool watching this, I think he is going to overtake my skills quite quickly, which will piss me off immensely - well I am 64, that's my excuse and I'm keeping to it :-)

you need knee, shin, elbow and wrist protection pads, otherwise you will have injuries, I'm afraid

From my point of view since 2014 no injuries (beyond scrapes of course) after 2 years of riding I then started wearing a helmet as the wheels got quicker. Now in all my testing and tens of thousands of miles I typically wear: Helmet, Gloves, motorbike trousers, upper body armour and thats it. Each to their own (and budget depending).

@@Speedyfeetuk i agree i rode bmx for 20 years in skate parks and never wore any gear except a helmet amd i never had any serious injuries now im 40 and i wear a helmet and gloves riding my euc and same results (so far knock on wood) no serious injuries in 4 years of riding. But i am also mindful of where i take the risks i dont ride stupid in traffic because you are no longer in control of the risks in traffic

Don't be afraid. Be safe, and have fun. "Needs" might differ a lot from rider to rider and situation to situation, and telling people what they need usually won't help much. Stay safe!

This helps me I'm still very much on the fence about getting euc, seeing the amount of falls im in for and being well into my 50s it doesn't look good. If I get one I will have full protective gear for certain.

I learned at the age of 59 Nigel. Be brave and go for it… you will fall, but if you have the protective gear, and keep you speed restricted initially, you’ll be fine. Once you start to get it I promise, you’ll be hooked!

@@gytrash thanks, I'm definitely capable of learning and know I'd be addicted once I got it. Watching people ride the faster wheels it looks incredible , what wheel would you think is good to start on without being stuck with something that is too slow , I would want to be going off road eventually, car drivers and roads are poor around here, I ride mountain bikes for that reason too

some of these falls were absolutely brutal to watch. I'm in my 40s and if you ease into it with 15-30 min daily sessions on hard level surfaces with sleep in between to help get your muscle memory down, you will fair much better! protective gear is a good idea either way though.

You will 100% have falls so defo take that into account. More worried you are the more gear you may need. I typically wear helmet, gloves, motorbike trousers and full upper armour. Each to their own though. If I am riding slow with the kids it would be nothing usually.

brilliant, man. it reminds me of myself some time ago, first real off-road after over 1500km on RS on paved roads - i did worse than you. my excuse is that i was in my fifties, hehe. kutgw!

@@Speedyfeetuk Yeah, I mean Harry. He really needs those wrist guards, from how he falls he's not trained to fall (like years of martial arts practice, hehe), and he needs at least taller shoes to protect his ankles and achiles' tendons, especially for heavy wheels, a bad move and the pedal sections the back of your heel... OTOH, you are all younger and stronger, so I won't be so worried about you >:P On my side, I often "forget" my helmet and other gear, but I never, and I mean NEVER, ride without wrist guards and tall shoes.

Keep offroad riding and on different terrains/weather its worth it makes you all the more skilled, i do lots of off road, saved me from a few dumb boxed drivers in traffic btw nice vid. but i cant stress it enough, guys helmet is great but not enough you can never have enough protector on yourself i had recetnly my first high speed crash on sherman after 12K km's at 82km/h cutoff cause retard me pushed it too much with below 50% battery so it served me right the amazing thing is sherman got only 2 scrathes, but all my 6 U rams broke wich did their purpose and i totally survived unscratched i was sliding on asphalt for like 25meters on my back arms and legs but i had protector all over me pretty much like riot police gear its worth that extra time of 10-15minutes gearing up cause you never know... i never crashed on EUC on ashpalt ever since i started riding them 15months ago and boom shit just happened and it was to own stupidity wich i rarely do, but it just takes once and you get rekt TIP: also use hiking shoes or something with more grip on pedals if you can afford, swap the trashy base pedals with spiked ones unless it comes with spiked pedals

@@Speedyfeetuk Not much, i got mine this march. Truth be told i never used it on slippery, muddy terrain though. Worst terrain where i tried to use it, was deep gravel, where i stepped down from the wheel and it fell.

Terrible mentorship to be in a position of authority, put your intern in a context where he's guarantee to fall, and let him go with no gear. Then giving him challenges and filming the whole thing for extra pressure 🤦‍♂️

Nah he asked to be challenged and to film it. Wouldn’t have otherwise, would have enjoyed the ride and not shared it, that way the fun police wouldn’t have been out in force with the nee knaw nee knaw going PS he is not an actual intern (hence the ‘intern’ in the description to denote that)

@@Speedyfeetuk I taught a few people and new riders do stupid stuff, make some really bad choices in the beginning, having no clue how they'll get hurt. It doesn't take much effort to tell them. Okay let's do this, but first; and lending them some gloves or basic wrist and knee protection.

Padless? You mean the power pads? If so we all ride padless…well unless stock pads come with the wheel (like s20…although I have heard reviewers saying they are useless..which is odd! Opinions are 2 a penny!)
