I’ve rode that road many of times. Dawsonville is my old stomping grounds.

It’s a great road but they are starting to widen it to 3 and 4 lanes in a lot of areas and the construction is annoying when you hit it. Thanks for watching and ride safe.

Enjoyed the video. The VStrom 650 would be my choice for a second bike with all the secondary dirt roads we have here in SC to explore.

There are quite a few here in GA too. Lots of forest service roads up here in the mountains. Thanks for watching.

The thing I like about the Yamaha Bolt is that it is an old-style, air-cooled, vee twin, without an ugly radiator stuck up at the front, as is the latest trend! Its weight at 542 Lbs is the main problem for li'le-old, 5 feet-6 inch, 140 Lbs me! The Bolt is nearly twice as heavy as my trusty Honda Rebel at 320 Lbs!! (Safe and comfortable for me!).Shame about the Digital Speedometer on the Bolt! I like chronometric Speedos, with needles!! I'll tell you what, George, that helmet video camera of yours, sure takes a crystal-clear video of the scenery around you, with perfect Electronic Image Stabilisation...which model?! A Wonderful scenic ride, George, I enjoyed every minute of it! Take care!....😀....😀...!

The Bolt did have a nice feel to it and was very nimble in the curves. Plenty of power and smooth. Sounds like your trusty Honda Rebel suits you to a tee. I had one a few years ago and it was a great little bike. Just too small for my 6-0” frame. The camera I have on my helmet is the GoPro Hero 8. It does have amazing clarity, color and very good image stabilization. I’m amazed at what they can do with these small cameras. Thanks for watching as always. Cherio mate!

Being lucky enough to own three bikes that are completely different, I can say that I enjoy my VStrom 650 more than any bike I've ever owned. It is my go to bike for dirt trails and mountain riding around Blue Ridge. I have a Victory Vision that is and has been an excellent bike and I wouldn't hesitate going on a cross country trip on any time, but it is heavy and though it handles great. it does get tiring in the twisties. My other bike [actually my wife's] is a Vulcan 650 and it is lots of fun but tends to be less comfortable for long trips. The VStrom is good for long trips and good for twisties and also for trail riding. This Swiss army knife of bikes, everyone should own one.

I really like the looks of the V-Strom. Can’t wait to test ride it. I may go back to Freedom Powersports this weekend and do that. Thanks for watching and commenting. Lots of great riding around Blue Ridge! Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe.

Nice gear choices and you can’t go wrong with Japanese adventure motorcycles. I’ve owned 2 BMW GSA’s and a Honda VFR 1200X adventure bike and I tell you that Honda was special.

I have met GREAT people thru RU-vid and I really hope one day, I will have the honor of meeting you. For me personally, I'll just have one bike. The Spyder will be enough for me for now. Can-Am was not so strict on there demo rides.

The Versys 650 is a great bike. I had one for two years and really enjoyed it. However, I’d recommend you try a Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor. I’ve owned mine for over two years now and love it. So much bike for so little money! Ride safe.

A lot of bike for little $ is definitely what I’m looking for. I’ll have to give the Royal Enfield a test ride if I can find a dealer in the Atlanta area. I’m sure there’s one not too far away. Thanks for watching. Ride safe.

There’s a Vlogger named whiskey chaser he rides a bolt matter of fact he’s just on his way back now from Florida he was down there with Shade tree surgeon and he’s got a bolt and he rode it all the way from New York to Florida this is the second time in Imand he’ll be coming back tomorrow back to New York City he loves his volt . Might check out his vlogs see what do you think about his bike from them . Stay safe 😎👍
@GARamblinMan
@GARamblinMan 2 года назад
I’ll have to check him out. The Bolt is way too small for me to take from NY to Florida, but a lot of folks do ride these type bikes a long way. Just depends on your size and how comfortable you feel on it I guess. It had plenty of power for the Highway and being light it was very nimble in the curves. Fun bike, but I would probably go for a Sportster or Kawasaki Vulcan S. It’s a blast to try out all different types and makes of motorcycles. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe.

My buddy had a 650 vstrom and it was awesome. I loved that bike but they used to be taller and it was a little too tall for me at 5 10. I have heard the newer ones are shorter. At that price you might want to at least give it a shot.
@GARamblinMan
@GARamblinMan 2 года назад
The seat height on the 2016 model was a lot lower than the Versys 1000 I sat on. Not sure if the previous owner might have lowered it if that’s possible. I may go back there and at least test ride it. It’s a pretty good deal at $6K. Thanks for watching. Ride safe.

Love your latest video... Nice gear choices. I need a transitional seasonal type jacket too. I am vertically challenged at 5'7" and like a thicker heal ie boots, but may try the "approved" riding shoes when the time comes. Right now I am struggling to locate a decent handlebar bag for my '21 Heritage. I am considering temporarily removing windshield and saddlebags for when I am just running around town etc. I have a swingarm bag on the way but would also like something smaller on the bars. Second bike for you? Take your time and get exactly what you want :)🏍
@GARamblinMan
@GARamblinMan 2 года назад
I have the Harley tail bag and the small leather windshield bag that fills the bill for me. If I was going to take a really long trip, I might go for a sissy bar and larger bag on the back. I love the new First Mfr jacket. Very heavy denim with nice lining and leather sleeves. Keeps the wind out on these days in the 50’s and 60’s without having to wear the really heavy winter leather jacket. It has pockets for armor too, but doesn’t come with any. It’s probably a little too hot for Georgia and Oklahoma summers, but that’s where the mesh jacket works.

Having two bikes of the same type (cruiser style) would be odd for me. I ride a Tiger 1200. ADV bikes are not bought because they are beautiful. They are bought to go just about anywhere and be comfortable for 12 hour days on the road. I've done cross country (USA) trips and the Tiger was excellent. From 45 degrees F in WY to 120 degrees F in CA, it just worked. If you get the Suzi, you will like it I am sure. You will also be spending money to make it the bike you really want by adding multiple accessories. I see guys doing it all the time. I call it "chasing value". i.e. Buying a japanese bike, then spending another $1,000-$2,000 on things to make it the bike they really want. Why not look at the premium brands like you did with Harley? Get the accessories you want, and warrantied by the single manufacturer. Some like to tinker and I get that. I'd rather be riding than taking the bike apart and putting it back together. Also, I wish I had your patience! When GRM says, "I will eventually get one." - 2 years later he pulls the trigger. When I say, "I will eventually get one." - 4 DAYS later I pull the trigger. o_O Another quality ride with GRM. Thanks for taking us along!
@GARamblinMan

You are right. I’m pretty cautious and deliberate when I make big purchases. Sometimes Mrs GRM has to just give the push I need. I agree with your point that buying a cheap bike for the price and then adding thousands of dollars in accessories kind of defeats the purpose. We have a new Triumph dealer here in Roswell, GA and he has some nice motorcycles. I like the Bonnevilles but before I bought an adventure style bike, I would ride them all including Japanese, Triumph and BMW. Thanks for watching and the great comments. Ride safe.

Agree with you about the Japanese manufacturers prohibition against video devices at demo days. I think it makes little sense - which suggests to me that a lawyer is behind it. Some legal issue. Harley and Indian don’t have it; you can use a video device with them. I test rode a Bolt. Not impressed. It seems to be Yamaha’s answer to a Sportster. I’m way too tall for it and was unimpressed with the pickup/acceleration. Try an Indian Scout! 100hp. Much more zip! I rented one once. Again, too small for me but impressive speed and a very handsome bike in green and tan. Or navy and tan. Or… and here’s a radical choice, test ride s Zero electric bike for a smaller second bike. They are FUN! Great bikes for short rides or commuting. I can see getting one for occasional use. And maintenance is very minimal.

Another Great Vlog I do like your Hwy 53 route. The new boots look comfortable. What cameras do you use, the picture quality, stabilization and sound are very good? They look like GoPro's maybe model 8, do you have a separate mic to record the audio or is it interfaced with your Sena? I have been looking at cameras recently, a friend and I are planning a ride in mid-April from Miami to Key West (picking up Bikes thru Eagle Rider in Miami) and I would like to record portions of that ride. Just wanting one camera for the front of the Helmet and have been reviewing a variety of brands on You Tube, Go Pro's 8 and 9, Akaso Brave 8, OSMO DGI and Inst 360. Your Input would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have 2 GoPro’s and a Sony Action camera. I use the GoPro Hero 8 for the main video mounted to my helmet chin section. I also have the media mod that goes with the Hero 8 so I don’t need a mic adapter. I use a separate Purple Panda 3.5mm lavalier microphone with a TRSS to TRS adapter between the purple panda and the media mod (or the mic adapter if you don’t use the media mod). I have a foam wind sock on the mic and tape it inside the chin of my helmet and route the mic cord behind the cheek pads and out to the GoPro. It takes a little practice to get the audio right but this set up with the separate Purple Panda mic works well. The image stabilization on the GoPro Hero 8 is awesome and the picture quality great. I use the wide Super View at 1080p resolution and 60 fps settings. I use my older Hero 7 to mount in my handlebars to point back at me. I don’t have a mic with this camera and just use the video. I use an editing software called Power Director to sync the videos from the Hero 8 and Hero 7 but use the audio from the Hero 8. Hope this helps! Good luck.
