Nice! Very glad they have the upgrade kit available for those of us who already have the Charger 3 damper in our forks. I'm def gonna pick up that kit and do the upgrade when it comes time to service my '22 Zeb. I always felt like the Charger 3 was more harsh than I wanted over the chattery stuff, so hopefully the Charger 3.1 will give me the plushness and comfort that I'm lookin' for!
You guys nailed this video, nailed it! I have to give it up to Rockshox. They have really, in my mind, moved past Fox. I have a brand new 2025 fox x2, tried a Vivid, thanks to your video Mike. Let's just say, the X2 is going up for sale. The Vivid never came off.
I was about to ask the same! Love the Zeb but the bike I plan on buying an updated fork/damper for, is better suited to the Lyrik. Charlie Murray is running a red Lyrik on his Stumpy Evo, ews rider btw
The .1 is SRAM/RS's reaction to all of the .0 beta testers' (AKA us) complaints. My 2.1 Pike felt way better than my 3.0 Ultimate....... Waiting patiently for the Charger 3.1.1
100% agree! I rode a 2024 Lyrik with the Charger 3.0 and wasn‘t happy at all. Switched to a 2024 Fox 36 Per.Elite and the difference is night and day. Speaking with my bike shop they all told me that the Charger 2.1 is way better than the 3.0. Too bad I didn‘t wait long enough!
@@Schnabulation Same. I was very disappointed with the performance of my 3.0 Zeb and ended up dumping it for a Fox 38. By far the worst fork I've ridden in a long time.
@@Schnabulation I've been riding a Fox 36 on my trail bike for quite some time so I could say it feels a lot like that (which is great). Maybe a tad more damped but that could just be the wear on the 36 now.
@@SidiNic I really don’t have the small bump sensitivity I was hoping for, the fork feels burly and has a lot of support, but at that given spring rate it lacks the small bump. I’ve played with various PSI and when it’s super sensitive I’m simply just wallowing in the travel too much
Amd thats why everyones complaining about the vivid air and coil not having the support fox does great video otter done on them recently and loads for sale now not sure if should pick one up as alot cheaper than a new used fox DHX2
I found my Zeb sitting alot in the middle when riding. Is that a pressure thing or rebound? I always have 10mm over on travel so pressure should be enough
Zeb needs fast rebound. So i usually use 2 klicks more then parking lot test. Works good. I use a trutune cause mine had too much left even after hard landings. Lg
Neither is better, they're just different! The Fox stuff just seems to lean towards the feeling of being glued to the ground while the RockShox stuff tends to use more travel more often, and gives it a little bit more of a "pop" feeling. -Mike
Guys what rear shock would you recomend for Trek rail. Im looking to upgrade my front shock to 170 mm from 160 mm and rear from 150mm to 165 ish mm. Im looking for Vivid ultimate and vivid coil ultimate. Any recomendations?
@@MasterBlaster69 Zeb is the front. I already have Zeb ultimate with charger 3. I will get the piston and airspring for the upgrade. Just 70 bucks. Im more thinking about the rear shock.
We have those in stock for the Charger dampers right now: thelostco.com/products/rockshox-fork-damper-tune-assembly-includes-shims-for-compression-rebound-configs-piston-tool-charger-3-1-pike-c1-lyrik-d1-zeb-a1-boxxer-d1
I fixed the ramping up problem on my Zeb with a TruTune activated carbon insert, which effectively increased the size of the positive chamber, making it more linear. There are other solutions , but this worked really well for me. Love the thing.
Cool, new tech. How about this? - I’ll keep riding my old 2019 revelation charger RC 160mm and pre-hbo super deluxe coil and still go faster and have more fun then 90% of the people on my local trails. Also with the cash i’ve saved i’m going on three week-long bike park visits this summer all in different countries.
Absolutely. Ran a Lyrik 2.1, Pike 2.1 and a Fox 34 performance but none of them can match a Formula Selva S with a negative air coil spring for plushness and perfect mid stroke support along with a very linear end stroke. Too bad Formula hasn't pushed there product more in the states or you would see a lot of people switching over. Done with Rockshox and Fox.
